It doesn’t matter what you want, stop being so narcisitic. What matters is that people now have choices, because different people have different goals.
You now have more ore to mine, isn’t that what you wanted? Why can’t you simply accept that “more ore” (pro) also comes with “possible downsides” (possible con) to allow for different playstyles and goals?
What’s to roll over? My preferred playstyles got destroyed a decade ago, I raged and then adapted. Now I’ve adapted by having several playstyles.
We have no control over this universe but we CAN predict where the eye of Sauron focuses its gaze on next. If something is out of line expect it to attract attention, could take a few years tho
Also I don’t understand what the issue is, residue doesn’t affect normal players.
Do you really think they didn’t adjust base ore yield to allow for the waste mechanic?
They obviously have ore yields in mind for each ship, the overall balance, so obviously they adjusted the stats.
People are just angry that maximising the yield per asteroid is not the same anymore as maximising the yield per minute, because they’re afk alt/bot army miners.
They will never tell you because the answer is “if I afk mine my yield isn’t maxed” but they can’t say that as they all promised they’d never be afk and they LOVE mining.
Because it feels like a punishement to min/max your yield with more expensive modules, raising waste at the same time.
Yes you get more money by mining right now with waste then before changes. Still people cant get over the fact that you actually destroy some of the ores you actually want to mine.
Basically the “waste” is a carrot and a stick at the same time.
But thats just me and Im likely to get called an afk Miner now for siply stating that i dont like the mechanic.
You can very easily get more ehp than before, just use a LARGE shield extender.
The question is if the skiff is still the best option for your situation, all 3 are now viable with different Pros and cons whereas previously it was “Hulk lol no”.
Jesus stop telling me stuff that has no connection to what i said:
Yes you can get even above 100k but you cant do that while keeping up with the yields before the patch on T1 Strips at the same time.
THAT was the Problem and i never said that its impossible to get higher or better numbers on ehp at all.
Dont start with T2 Strips now or stuff like that. I tried to achieve the same stats i had before, after the patch. Right now its 76k ehp again and a loss of 1.5 m³ /s on Strip 1. Im fine with that and already nearly there to start using T2.
I even like the fact T2 is more then a viable option now.
I didn’t follow that whole earlier discussion, only saw your single post.
Here’s probably your best bet with the best defense against Void (which would probably be your biggest worry) while maximising T1 performance. If you have mining upgrades 5 you can switch to 2 multispectrums and one thermal amp.

Mining Laser Upgrade II
Yeah all good. Sry for being a bit bitchy but kinda rough day so sry again.
By the way thats basically my old/new fit now.
Mining Upgrades is on 4 though so missing out on a bit. Thats fine though since i was able to achieve what i wanted, lost no ehp and as said im fine with the changes regarding T1/T2 yield.
Never was a fan of the old crystal stuff and in my setup they basically just meant a small increase for more work (getting them, transport them or build them and so on). Now they basically are in a decent place i think.
Was the Orca supposed to retain it’s 3% bonus to Mining Foreman Burst strength. I was under the impression that that bonus was supposed to be moved to the Industrial core. However, item cards for both the the orca and the core list the bonus.
So, was that intentional? Has anyone tested to see if both bonuses are applying? Perhaps the orca is no longer providing the bonus, and the item card just needs to be updated.
What i do know, however, is if both items are providing bonuses, that would be a huge buff to fleet yield.
The intention was to keep an Orca on the Level Prepatch without Core. With Core its supposed to be better. So kinda think its intentional and might be subject to changes soonish.
Thanks for the clarification. I have taken note of the points you have made. Please don’t get me wrong, I am actually in favor of this mining update, as I do see, and will benefit from, some of the positive features to mining introduced in this update.
My only concern was on the use of mining drones, and these concerns have now been somewhat alleviated.
I wouldn’t be too ‘alleviated’ with the nurfs to the Orca and expansion of the fields themselves I’m not finding an argument for the addition cost and risks of the Augmented Mining drone. A significant boost to their range and speed might make them worthwhile. Still a lot of experimentation to be done but it’s not looking good.
I’m sitting of 9 of them and thinking I’ll be taking losses. At least I won’t need as many Elite drone AI’s as I use to.
