Version 19.11 - General Feedback

Nonono. It’s “content”, psychological content, or real yield if you use A type crystals and a lot more time. But the old poet asked “what’s in a name”. One miner’s waste is another miner’s extra yield. Unless *spoiler alert I use C type crystals in which case it’s every miner’s salt - and so intended by ccp, which I can only applaud. Best addition to interactive gameplay and interspace communication since quite a few years. The forum posts about flagging hisec C-users are already popping up. Good times.

They have pretty much rolled back everything. The drone bonus was 100% form role and 50% from industrial command. Its now going to be 75% from industrial command and 75% from a T2 core.

So once you get a T2 core fitted the ship is in the same place with some trade offs for travel time/fuel cost/locked in space when using core. Which when compression arrives will hopefully be the tradeoff.

As for augmented drones. The waste doesnt come form YOUR yeild. It comes form the asteriod. So they will still mine way faster than T1’s.

An asteriod that was 10k before the change will be 20k now thanks to the size doubling. If 40% of that is wasted using augmented drones you are still taking home 12K. So thats a 20% increase in available ore even with the waste/residue.

If its important to you that you get all 20k of the asteriod then use T1 drones. Sure do that. For things like moons or systems with limited amounts of ore i can see how that would make sense. But in most cases. Getting the Orca filled up faster is still going to be preferrable and using augmented drones still means you will be mining pretty much as fast and having more to mine.

I see that I can no longer use the fitting service on my porpoise from my barges. I can see that it’s still possible with an orca, or at least the right click context menu is still there.

Not that the word “porpoise” is mentioned in the release notes at all; but did I miss something in the patch notes?

My faith in the “augmented” mining drone has been restored. :grinning:

Okay @CCP_Paragon @CCP_Swift @CCP_Psych @CCP_Zoetrope

You have some explaining to do. Why was there a ninja patch not only to the Endurance. Going from 18725m3 to 19000m3 but then the Frostline Omnivore EVENT/Storyline Module was nerfed.

I had an Triple Frostline Endurance yesterday going at about oh. 43sec unimplanted 41sec implanted. Mind you this has been tweaked 1sec off from last 2020 Youlai event where I was at 48sec and 44sec. Then I get on today I am at 46sec implants in. No patch notes whatsoever.

Can I have some explainations as to why?

The mining crystal and mining skillz refactor, caused a big problem in our corp. Eve properly (as far as I can tell) added the appropriate amount of skill points to our character so that we could reapply them. Unfortunately, and this affected all of my corp members who mine, did not realize this has happened. So when we get the little message saying “You have unused skill points”, we just applied them to our current training queue, and losing the ability to use mining crystals. We should have been warned that the skillz have been realigned, please reconsider your mining skillz before applying the unused skill points. I was forced to by skill injectors, and am not pleased. If you realign skillz in the future, please warn with big screens or something that you need to reconsider those skillz.

Thank you

Julian

But if you mine like you did before two days ago it does nothing at all?

I have to completely retract this whiney post. (Won’t delete to maintain thread continuity)

The change does create a path for continued solo Orca mining. It’s more costly and time consuming and the risk has greatly increased with the use of the core. But, with utilizing the fleet hanger to store heavy water and carefully organized bookmarks I should be able to come close to the previous levels of isk/day as I use to even after new costs factored. After refitting I can now operate at 392k ehp which should be a fair offset for the gank risks

It’s still going to take a lot of hours to prove this out completely but scaled testing seems to bare this out as true.

----- original post -----

312 Days and 20mil isk to get the Orca’s Large Industrial Core I to 10ME/20TE.

For a ship that’s been effectively removed from the Solo Player toolbox thus decreasing buyer market
For a component that costs isk to run (heavy water) and less than a 4 hour water tank.
A component that forces you to be gank bait in order to use it.
A component that needs up to 150s to turn off so you can move again.

Personally I can’t justify it being in my research queue at this time…

So glad I’ve spent the last year researching out an Orca BP and still have months to go to finish it :frowning:

So not only is my solo gameplay style gone but a big piece of my business plan as well.
Solo Orca Mining - out
Orca Sales - down
Augmented mining drones sales - down (if not gone)

I’m committed to adapting to the changes, but holy crap CCP. You ganked more than my game play you’ve ganked a significant portion of my industry/business plan.

I wouldn’t’ t have re-allocated my SP refund the way I did had I a true understanding of the ramifications of these changes. I went through the Dev Blog in advance, I watched and read many discussions about them, and as a year old player I couldn’t fully grok just how impactful these changes would be to me.

I may be a solo player and only a year old but I’ve spent several thousand real dollars to get set up to be a moderately impactful high sec industrialist.

CCP, you may think you want more concurrent users and more socialization. But where does a solo player like myself that makes up for 13.8 Omega accounts (figuring $3k though it’s possibly closer to $4k now) + 3 omega accounts fit into you ‘vision’?

I would think that you WANT more players like myself not fewer and you seem to have put in place changes that are blocking my ability to play and carve out a corner in the sandbox beyond just ‘tinkering’. I accepted that it would take years to grow and develop but when my y/o expensive legs are chopped out from beneath me these changes become a huge CCP gank.

If I’m wrong and you really want to eliminate solo players. Please state that plainly somewhere.

Skilled for Mining - Got Alts rdy - Had 6 Accounts up - Scarcitiy hit

Skilled 3 out of 6 for Ishtar Ratting - Ratting gets changed and not in a good way (i dont like it at all)

Stopped playing for a while (Corp Drama), back with 1 Alt that owns a single Skiff - huge buffs to every mining ship besides mine which got a light nerf

Get used to it. We all had to at one point.

I take it all back. I have come up with a solution that solves the entire problem listed above. I will now bookmark every asteroid in every belt, then i can just warp to any asteroid that I want.

The new gas cloud harvesting effects are quite cool. Only one little problem: They very visibly reset every cycle. This is really unnerving because it makes you think that the modules turned off for some reason, which in turn makes you become susceptible to not noticing when modules actually turn off. This animation should be a continuous loop without falsely making you think that modules turned off.

What you could do with this animation, however, is to implement a visible effect when the harvesting creates a damage wave. Like a feedback loop making the beam flicker or light up with a flash. That would be really cool.

Nope. It shows that they are listening to their unhappy customers and doing something about it.

All they did was residued a lot of dev time lol

@Cat_Steele You know… that might just work…

Thank you for the idea. May have to take my entire rant back.

I mean there’s only a dozen or so worthwhile rocks in each belt. That’s a lot of warp in / warp out but might be quicker than what’s available otherwise. And you could activate the core right away.

Will have to play… once I figure out my new fit… Kinda eliminates the need for MWD so nice tank opening.

Thanks!

Sure no problem! If you bm the rocks you want, you can warp to belt 1 mine the rock, warp to belt 2 mine the rock, warp back to belt 1 mine the next rock, etc.

If you mine like two days ago, but with A crystals in modulated strip miners, you can stay in the belt longer because of double sized asteroids, for less than double the time. That is right. What the situation is for tech1 strip miners, I don’t know.
If you mine like two days ago, but with B crystals in modulated strip miners, you can stay in the belt longer because of double sized asteroids, and then cry about how not getting every last bit of the double size but only 66% of double the original amount of m3. Psychological tricks indeed

Hot take: You can use BPOs that are not at 10ME/20TE. Just try it, it works!

My ticket remains unansewred???

As far as the different types of crystals (A, B, C) couldn’t you change the color on b and c to like green and yellow or something? It would make it a lot easier to distinguish which is which without having to mouse over all of them.

I guess the icon is slightly different… color would be nice to have

me10 doesn’t make sence for a lot of BPO. me10/te20 is often just cosmetic.
