Shockingly but UI looks and works better. That was unexpected. No red dot. Finally usable skill queue. Separate buttons for transparency and position lock. Same design for all windows. Likely more.
New map still have severe problems in usability. Same as at it’s launch. Bad population numbers indication. Near invisible lines when “All lines” selected.
First undocking is now pain. Especially in Jita.
Docking bomb timer why? Visuals Ok but sound is stressful.
supposedly the animations cover the previous lag in docking/undocking - which no one ever cared about
now dont get me wrong - i like the added realism …sorta
its just back to the elephants …yes plural …in the room
@CCP_Paragon since the PARAGON ship selling stuff is time gated. Can we please get a remote timer or count down clock that we can view some where in game?
I think this patch is a great step in the right direction.
One thing I don’t like about the FW changes though are the hacking sites to get materials to buy propaganda and listening posts. The response fleets require a large ship or a fleet. While I like the idea of defending a listening post deployment, going “behind enemy lines” should be something lower skill players can either do or duo. The hacking games are also the highest tier of difficulty making them hard to complete without much on return.
Recommend these be toned down or scaled properly so it’s not a major encounter but something to create content for scanning scouts as a way for pilots to contribute to the effort other than plexing and something new players in the default FW corps could do either by themselves or with a small pug.
Deployment of the beacons seems a bit overkill as well. While the fleets aren’t unkillable, they do require a powerful solo ship or fleet and they are super annoying when deploying. While the intent is a great idea for pvp content, getting wrecked for 1k damage in your pvp fit cruiser while an enemy faction fleet engages you isn’t going to promote using these. “Hey guys, let’s deploy a beacon and bring full cap chain logi” isn’t super great.
If you don’t make them easier to get from hacking and then make them too hard to do when deploying, then players will just keep doing plexes and we just miss out on more great and varied content creation.
For instance, the rendezvous points seem pretty close to what we should have (although maybe a small tone down is needed too).
Finally, there does seem to be a bug with advantage bonus after deployment of propaganda and listening posts and rendezvous points. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Oh and please for the love of all that is holy and true…remove the docking animation and sound.
I’m running a 6700k/1080ti/16GB system with 3 clients running and having no issues besides a slight FPS dip (active client was at about 60FPS pre-update and now is at 57). Undocking causes a big fps hit, but this is after the undocking animation as the “space” scene loads up… but this has always happened for me.
This is getting really annoying actually. I just undocked to go do stuff, set autopilot, came back a few minutes later and found I was in a capsule - despite the hanger showing I was in the ship I needed when I undocked.
It seems every time I leave a ship to get into a capsule, the hanger fails to recognise the change and shows me in the ship.
Please either fix the major issues like this (and the horrendous GPU utilisation in the hanger) as a matter of urgency. This patch clearly should never have been released in its current state.
I can verify that using the “View Outside” view in Upwell structures helps to keep issues to a minimum - the GPU doesn’t race/burn, and as a bonus, you’re unlikely to be lied to by the hanger interface about exactly which ship you’re in. Once you’ve done it once, the setting persists across all docking in Upwell structures.
Sadly, you can’t do this in NPC stations - like Jita 4-4. Which (I need to test further before making an absolute claim) seems to be exhibiting similar problems to Upwell structures.
Of course, it’d be nice if we could just have a useful hanger that didn’t destroy our PCs…
I like it too - if I’m running multiple accounts via Eve-o preview I can now clearly hear if a nested ship below the screen I’m watching has docked. I guess it could get a bit annoying if I only ever ran one account tho.
