Unfortunately, CCP has repeatedly demonstrated they don’t care about accessibility
You keep assuming that they don’t have the resources - obviously they do, because they did it. You just don’t like what they did, but that doesn’t make your claim correct. They have done a quality rework in a year, in my opinion.
Is there an updated SDE export with the modified blueprint information available?
Clearly, they thought they had the resources needed.
It’s true, lawyers are reasonably pedantic.
I mean, most lawyers aren’t me-levels of pedantic, but you guys get the job done.
Oh… oh, no, Brisc… no. You were doing so well on the pedantry…
Will Photon objectively cause eye strain? If Photon causes eye strain in one user—our nearly blind commentator upthread, for example—then it does objectively cause eye strain. Whether or not that person’s got eye strain isn’t subjective. It doesn’t depend on who’s asking. The subjective part is ‘does Photon cause you eyestrain?’
That bit’s subjective. That bit’s subject to the perspective of the respondent. Whether or not it caused anyone eyestrain isn’t, because if it causes me eyestrain, then it doesn’t matter who you ask, someone still has eyestrain from it. C’mon. I know it was late… or, depending… maybe so late it was early (are you still east of home?) but that’s the kind of misstatement that makes people think you’re saying something you weren’t meaning.
There is one thing really bugging me:
Drones option made perfectly sense to be on the Top-Left of the Drones window next to “Drones” why put them into the bottom right next to “Drones in Space” ? Makes no sense to me, atleast give me the option back to put it next to “Drones” on the top left of the Drones window.
Historically , there were very few CSM members that actually represented the overall Eve community and had a genuine interest for it.
Most of them just served the agenda of some powerblock or CCP, refusing or just ignoring the opinion of persons outside of those groups, but this is a topic for another discussion and here is certainly not the place for it.
More code efficient to have 1 way of doing things compared to half the players using one and half the other.
And tbh its pretty damn good and looks to be getting better with the micro ui coming soon tm.
tooltips deactivate tick box please !! these are anoying to be honest, a nightmare to have to stand those all the time popping up , I don´t think it is much to ask for
They say a picture is worth 1000 words:
Wow, I didn’t know they had the Triglavian localization in yet…
Especially when the tooltip popping up to say ‘You don’t have this skill yet!’ actively keeps you from purchasing the skill.
I went for a screenshot there, but if I were to record it, that window was also blinking brightfully … I have to fix those standings … now trigs hack our contracts.
I don’t represent the company. I don’t represent EVE. I do represent the players, and as I noted, the vast majority of players are not complaining about Photon. They are either, as Arrendis noted, ambivalent, or they, like me, actually like it.
’Seems CCP will not make changes soon.’ This is why I get frustrated. This UI has been in development for almost a year and has been available for players to test since May. Dozens, if not hundreds, of changes have been made since it first was available for play testing. Why would you say something like this when the last year has demonstrated the exact opposite? Because you weren’t paying attention to the half dozen dev blogs on Photon? Because you only noticed when they forced the change Tuesday?
If you decide to quit, that’s on you. I hope you don’t. I have been passing on specific issues with players with vision issues or who have been made sick by the new UI - if you put in a ticket, get me the number and I will try to get your specific situation in front of CCP.
If you think all progress in this game should be stopped because of something you don’t like, you’re not only being absurdly selfish, you also don’t have the best interests of the game at heart. I’m sorry to see you go, because I hate whenever anybody quits. but you can’t expect the game to stand still because you don’t like that some things are changing.
You can slow tool tips down with a slider on the escape menu to very slow and you hardly ever see em again
Come on, bro. You know as well as I do that the guy talking about objectivity meant it was universal, not that it happened to one person. I mean, the old UI would fail that too - I’m sure there isn’t a single UI anywhere that hasn’t caused eye strain in somebody who has had to stare at it for years of their lives.
The point is that if the UI is objectively causing eye strain, not only would we be seeing more complaints, the folks making it would be suffering too, and would have changed it. I mean, nobody is looking at it more than they are - they get paid to look at it. Why would they design something that literally hurts them? They’re the experts at this. with all the training and experience that all of us don’t have as end users.
But that’s one thing you learn pretty quickly in EVE (and most video games) - the folks playing the game all believe they could do a better job making it than the folks who did.
At least in theory they should be. Let’s not forget though, that at the end of the day, they are also humans, and humans make mistakes.
It happens everywhere, in every company, even to big industrial consortia. It is not uncommon to see products or services with defects ending on the market and for later to return from where they came from.
As for the stress that it puts on the users eye, it is not up to them to determine that, but for a medical specialist, and since we haven’t hear any complains from those that were tasked to design the UI concerning this matter, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they haven’t encounter such issue(s).
I haven’t seen comments here from persons claiming that they could do a better job than them . All I’ve seen was feedback (most of it constructive and as objective as it can be) and people expressing their feelings and concerns, which is their right to do so as customers.
Understand that we are not absurd here and that at the end of the day we all would love to have a modern functional UI and we understand that this is going to take time . If that time interval is going to be a long one, we would all love to have the opt-out option again , until the new UI is fully functional and optimized.
You can change the contrast in the chat box - I think it’s in the three dots menu and there is a slider near all the font stuff
Once again people having a go at Brisc is not helping the real issue which is mine and right now it’s the font being too smooshed together for lower resolution monitors so reading the scanner ID is hard - lDC and lOC is very hard to differentiate for example
Anyone else having issues with the words ( text only, not the graphic animation ) remaining on the screen? Yesterday I left port and had the word U N D O C K I N G across my screen everywhere I went. I still don’t see any option to turn off this unwanted redundant feature. I had to restart the game to make it leave.
Edit: Also the animation stopped working when this occurred.
Seeing as you changed all the colours Do NRDS and NBSI still exist? because I see friends in a sort of brown colour and now minus 5 I might add are now blue. !! So Not red doesn’t shoot any longer exists it’s stupid you have made negative standing blue and reds are now friendlies the mind boggles do the devs actually play this game?
NBSI is NOW NBSI = NOt brown shoot it ???
Has anyone else noticed this with standings?
And how come 0.5 0.4 and 0.3 are all yellow now? - why not use red for low sec like always been?
I mean the new UI can get used to it, the stupidity of how it has been set up over 12 months I cannot fathom why we have to put up with changes to the mechanics of the game red=bad blue=good
The alliance red vs blue will now have to change its name to blue vs yellow???
