Aww, are the J-bears afraid of wormhole entrances? How adorable.
I stopped day tripping in to lower level holes when the melted nano ribbons price tanked, years ago
The issue here for me is the time it now takes to scan. Ok, I get it, less safety in wormhole is good for the game. People making billions without risk is bad, I can agree to that. But this more connections thing is now for sure killing our small wormhole corp.
I have to spend at least just 1h every day I login just scanning to check out the area, just direct connections. If I have to go find a highsec or known space connection it can sometimes take 3 hours. Not fun. I’ve scanned thousands of times. I’m sick of it.
Those signatures have to be scanned, its a must. First for content and second because nobody is gonna risk billions farming without trying to control the risk if possible.
Its such a chore now nobody is willing to do it. People are loosing interest. Me too. Login numbers are dwindling hard.
Like, actual EVE advice seeking here. Do I quit the corp and move out of jspace? I like the friends I have in there, it would be really heartbreaking to quit. I really like the game but I’m stuck in a chore and play less as time goes.
Maybe try not scanning all the signatures. See what happens - right? If it is either burnout, quit, or just give up the task you hate?
I’m not finding it nearly that much. Are you using a shared bookmark folder with your corp mates, shared Tripwire, and delegating / sharing the work effectively? Also, I find scanning creates opportunities, but then I’m not very focussed on securing a hole in order to farm it. It’s possible that CCP want to reduce that kind of play, and your corp is a victim.
Disclosure - I actually enjoy the scanning side of WH life at least as much as any other aspect of it.
How are your scanning skills ? - in the right ship, with the right skills, most sigs can be scanned-out in 2 or 3 steps.
Are you using a tool to retain the results of previous scans (Tripwire, Pathfinder etc) ? It saves you re-scanning sigs you’ve already identified. I scan our class 3 several times a day - perhaps 1/2 hr for the initial scan, and 5 minutes for ‘keeping up to date’ a couple of times later in the day. I find HS connections direct from our WH often enough that I rarely need to go searching surrounding systems for one.
If no-one else in the corp will relieve you of this wearisome burden by sharing the scanning, but just leave it all to you - maybe they’re not as much your ‘friends’ as you seem to think. Perhaps you should find a non-WH corp more appreciative of your skills and talents…
Thanks all for the replies, I’ve been thinking about this hard and is good to me to hear other things from other EVE players.
@Xeux
There is very few of us. Scanning is the only way to content. Sometimes I am completely alone. I live in a high class wormhole. I can’t give up scanning.
@Little_Fawn
Yeah, we do but, I am in a small corp. Sometimes there is nobody else to help me. Sometimes there is but we are no more than 3 regularly. We are mostly old dudes with jobs and families also and fleets only happen once a week at most, as an example.
We’ve gone from 3-4 direct wormhole connections average a day to like 6 or 7 open connections. Up to 10 or 11 I’ve seen now when its bad. I have to check them out besides scanning them, like warp to the stations and see if there looks like there is anybody home. It takes a lot of time of gameplay out. And its boring up to this point. I ranked 3% top in most visited systems in the ‘Year in EVE’ video thing.
All it feels is that Im being punished for trying to play. Maybe I’ve should have never gotten into WH space. It isn’t worth it. I also don’t make a lot of safe isk as ‘advertised’ by ExookiZ in 2019 CSM. We poor as rats my dude, barely paying the fuel.
Id be just dumb to not scan for safety. You at least take some precautions before risking the important iskies.
@ Dravick_Afterthought
I have all the exploration skills to level 4 and working to level 5 in some and I use a scanning fit astero most of the time. Not the best thing but should be pretty good right?
My corpmates are alright, we are great friends. Which makes it all the more difficult for me to quit living in Jspace. Its not that Im let alone with all the scanning. I used to really like it, finding stuff, I’ve been able to call lots of targets and given kills too. But one thing you’re right. Non-wh is all the more attractive to me now.
Imagine being able to do stuff without having to scan. Sounds like perfect rainbow world to me now. Like the rainbow world Lionel Hutz imagines in The Simpsons.
Scanning was a chore for my situation already before the ‘more connections!’ change, it is just worse now. I used to take it as a necessary evil. But what is the point of torturing myself so much with that stupid minigame over and over again?
I even have what is sure a new syndrome created by EVE. The wormhole syndrome. I go out to highsec and feel like I have been living in a cave for years. The light emited by neutral ships and local character pictures burns my eyes. I see stuff moving carelesly and feel threatened, while hitting dscan constantly.
Probably would look like a caveman with a huge unkempt beard to the people that see me.
I can just go play diablo 3 or touch my wee wee and that gives me more entertainment value without having to scan.
Maybe nullsec sounds great to me if I find a good group. But Im so tied socially to the friends I already have in EVE its just less emotionally stressing to quit.
Sorry for the wall of text. I hope you got some laughs besides reading some dudes rant. I wish CCP would listen to some of this and at least prompts them to investigate the issue further. All I wish for.
It sounds to me like you need a house meeting. Best of luck!
Find your joy!
I think this simply boils down to the fact that I enjoy scanning and you don’t - so it’s just horses for courses. I sincerely hope you find an Eve niche more suited to your requirements - o7
Is that turn of phrase used all over the commonwealth, or is it time to play ‘spot the Australian’?
I’m UK, I didn’t know it was used elsewhere as well.
I too have sensed a bit of lack of activity in wormholes from time to time when lurking. Now im not the most active WH player, but i do visit a bunch of em per week or so. Sometimes is get to see alot of activity, often at the times when im not in my hunting ship, for some reason lol. And then other times when i am looking for something it can often feel pretty quiet.
Maybe alot of the pilots are moving around more, since more connections and i guess like someone else said here, krabbing in a hs static isn’t really that too common anymore due to the connections or so.
I personally don’t really mind the update, but sometimes, i have seen c1’s with something close to 6 wormholes connections myself, which i again i think rises up the opportunities but somehow it just doesn’t play too well.
I think for c3+ they should have buffed the connections a bit and leave the c3- ones.
I don’t mind the extra wormholes, but a few more non-wormhole sigs would be appreciated.
I am interessted in a second Static WH in C3-Class WH …
isk isnt really worth the rewa
This is where new wormholers come into the game.
ers to earn 1B/h with too low risk
By the time you make 1B an hour, you invested tons in the game and this 1B is offset by the time you need in preperation. There will be days you can’t do anything at all (was already like that pre change). And sometimes you can maybe krab for one hour. Most other activities in the game will net you less per hour thats true. But most of those if not all of those activities can be done 24/7. Actually I’m at the forum because I got rolled out at the moment. So this entire evening I haven’t done anything yet. In null how many super ticks would i have had by now? It really isnt that great ISK as some people say if you talk about the average per hour.
I personally don’t really mind the update, but sometimes, i have seen c1’s with something close to 6 wormholes connections myself, which i again i think rises up the opportunities but somehow it just doesn’t play too well.
You have no local, and 4 times the connections of a regular system now. It destroys what living in a wormhole meant. Creating hole control together. Have people in different connections. All they hope is more people dying and buying plex. This has nothing to do with ‘love for wormholes’. It was also an easy change programming wise. They just changed one parameter in the source code. LOL
“Hole control” was a dumb side effect of how CCP programmed the wormhole connections. It made no sense. Good riddance!
Well, thats your point of view, and I repect that.
But in my special case it kills my game play (or about 90% of them).
I had a small and tiny C2 with a C1 and was happy to hunt ratters.
Since this glorious update there are no ratters anymore.
They stay outside in HS for crabbing.
And so I had to cancel two of my accounds (the WH-Rollers) cos I don’t need them anymore.
“Hole control” was a dumb side effect …
But for was one of the best things.
Give them a little bit of time and let them belive they are alone and safe.
Sigh, just dreaming of past glory
