Wardecs are not the problem

¯_(ツ)_/¯ No one knows everything about the game, nor even has to think about every aspect of the game.

Whether that’s me, you, Chribba, Techos, Drac, etc… There’s just some things so minor that it’s just no surprise if people haven’t thought of them before.

Sure I would (and Drac’s knowledge of the game is good anyway). It’s just not a big enough issue to expect everyone to know it.

Its not that they didnt know it. Its that they clearly have not even thought about it, themselves, nor looked into the mechanics. Its not a complicated thing to figure out and should be readily obvious to someone that spends even a few minutes considering the use of Locator Agents.

Ive never seen you make excuses for me on the partnof Teckos or Doms accusations of ignorance, even though they where false and a result of their own misunderstanding. Ill hold you to your claim. Lets see next time it happens that Teckos or Dom attack someone for perceived ignorance on a topic.

War decs are not exclusive to high sec. They only prevent explosions by concord in high sec and security losses for attacking those targets in low. Nothing changes in null.

Wardecs may not be exclusive to high sec, but they are pointless in nul and wh.

I have to disagree…

Have you ever been in a corp/alliance in null under a wardec and seen a member be stupid enough to try and buy and undock a ship in Jita? I have.

It was either a Vindi or Mach, his first one that he’d saved up for (yes he was warned)

Wardecs in null and wh are not pointless with players around like that.

Wardecs in nul and wh are pointless. Wardecs against nul and wh corps are not pointless, because you can block or impede their access to high sec. I also never mentioned lowsec at all because wardecs are not pointless there. They have their uses in lowsec.

But I did choose my words carefully, and very specifically said, “wardecs IN nul and wh are pointless”. I never said a wardec on a nul or wh corp or alliance is pointless.

You are too polarized in your conclusions. I dont care about wardecking the big alliances and the corps in them. But when newb corps in high sec are decked the newbs log off and give up eve. The mechanics are ■■■■ and give the deckers the upper hand every single time. The CEOs of high sec newb corps are pretty much newbs themselfs just looking at ways to play eve. Some might not giving a ■■■■, but some do. It doesent matter because wardecks prevent our new guys from logging in.

No, they don’t. Some might, but there are many who don’t, because they find a good corp with competent leadership. I’m saying this from not just my own experience, but all the newbs I’ve taken on in various corps and alliances I’ve had positions of responsibility in. Wardecs don’t prevent anyone from logging in, and they don’t chase people away from the game. People make the choice not to log in, and they make a choice to quit the game instead of learning how to function with a wardec. There are plenty of people playing the game and doing well today who experienced wardecs as new players, so tell me again how wardecs drive newbs away.

EDIT: reworded for certain people who struggle with simple english.

Purge complete. Multiple off topic responses, and those quoting them have been removed.

While the Original Idea of this thread was meant towards a discussion About war decs, There are many, MANY quality posts regarding ideas as a means of a fix or a replacement.

I have moved this thread to the Player features and ideas discussion part of the forums so it is in the right place.

Yes, they so. I am not saying this only from my own experience, but from years helping quite a few newbs and newb corps. Wardecks make people do something else than play eve because it simply isnt fun to get shot at every gate.

Fixed.

Same experience when I was way the heck back there. Don’t like the war? Don’t want to start a new character? Offline I will go. I have Kerbal Space Program, Oxygen not Included, and many other games that don’t force me into a war I don’t want to fight and am not forced to. No penalties for ignoring the game, no benefits for fighting the war, so I can invest my time elsewhere and do that this game was supposed to be for an investment of my time. Have fun.

Pretty much every case that ive seen new players logging off for a week is because their leadership tell them to. This is 100% unnecessary and is indicative of poor leadership.

Any half competent leader can run fleets during the dec and provide a chat channel so that members that have dropped corp for the dec can still play with the corp.

No one is forced into a war. It’s OPT-IN.

This is 100% a valid strategy to avoid a fight at zero risk and no cost. This is indicative of a leader who has made you angry that they aren’t providing you targets.

Any half competent leader can make war completely ineffective by letting the players drop to npc and thus make war fluffy bunny poops against the membership.

It’s also OPT-OUT with no risk as there is no benefit to OPT-IN.

I just said that. So you agree no one has to log off for a week and anyone who thinks they do and /or tells others to is a dumb ass.

All you are doing is confirming that anyone who decides to make war ineffective is a dumb ass while current game mechanics not only support it but promote it.

Wardecs don’t make you do anything. You always have choices. In the years I’ve been helping newbs and newb corps, I’ve helped them to understand those choices, and the only noobs I’ve seen quit were those that were always going to, because EVE is not and never was for them.

This video is a newb corp coming to fight me, in lowsec, after Brutal and I had killed a bunch of them in high sec, and none of them quit as a result. Instead, they decided to try to fight, because they had a better understanding of EVE, and the right attitude to do well at it.

In case you can’t tell, they are enjoying themselves. And they are not the only example of newbs that I’ve actually helped, instead of just claiming I’ve helped, to take control of their own destiny in this game, instead of letting others dictate it to them.

Again, wardecs don’t make you do anything. When I was a newb, they didn’t make me quit. They didn’t even come close. So what’s the difference between me, and all these other newbs that they do make quit?

Also, you guys need to learn how to speak for yourselves and only yourselves. I personally love getting shot at. It means I’ve got a fight.

Grats. Not everyone agrees that getting shot at is “fun” so don’t put words in my mouth either.
