Thanks for the correction!
How many players do you think are regularly destroyed in High Sec? Iâd bet itâs around 1% or lower. Iâve mined in many belts (asteroids, moon ore, and ice fields) in each faction and Iâve only seen ganking inâŚ2 of them. 99% of the player base donât get ganked. Iâve heard of ganking in a few of them- I only witnessed two.
On that note, how small do you think High Sec is? Do you really expect us all to believe that there are so many active gankers every day that they can cover large portions of it each and every day blowing up thousands of ships a week? Ganking only takes place in very few sections of space.
Ganking is such a minor attraction in High Sec that I can fly a battleship into an ice system and NOT have all the miners run at the mere sight of me. Iâm not naming names, but I have friends who sit in open space for hours only to find out that they went to bed hours ago. Tehy wake up and still have their ship (provided diamond rats didnât get them.
Ganking doesnât happen all that often. @Syzygium is right- if it vanished, very few people would realize.
This right here⌠blowing up 0.5% of the mining barges in High Sec does nothing to effect the economy.
The results for both are in real life: The grandma bleeds and gets her purse taken, the player bleeds money for PLEX and has his time and money taken. Both happen in real life. The time and money that the player looses are in real life.
I donât know why. I just do.
Wait⌠you mean granny had guaranteed safety in the example? Where does she live? Thereâs not a single real life place where anyone has guaranteed safety. You do know that right? I donât care if youâre in your own home, driving down the road, or at the church. No place has complete safety.
But it doesnât matter- Concord exists and it cannot be avoided. That is a rule in High Sec and I like that rule.
My Tengu ( heavy assault missiles ) can do 910 DPSâŚwhich I can raise to 950 or so shortly. Which is 100 DPS or so more than a T2 Catalyst ( you can get to around 850 DPS in a T2 Catalyst and 1200 in the Navy version ). And a range of 25km for those missiles. And a 12km range energy neutraliser. And best of all, a covert ops cloak. And definitely more EHP than any Catalyst version.
Bear in mind that a Catalyst attack at a station or gate is also up against the gate/sentry gunsâŚwith their range of 150km.
Incidentally, if you really want raw ganking DPS powerâŚa Talos. Around 100m ISKâŚand can reach 2000 DPS. Conversely, if you want something practically ungankable ( not that it âcanâtâ be ganked but it would cost more than the ship )âŚa hull tank fitted Navy BrutixâŚ300K EHP or so and quite cheap.
HeyâŚI wasnât the person who brought grannies into it. Frankly I actually find RL comparisons rather silly. The whole idea of a game is to not be RL. I think that in any argument about EVE, the first person to make comparisons to RL should automatically be deemed to have lost the argument.
Because no one ganks in a battleship. Now, warp to that same ice anom in 8 Catalysts and see what their reaction isâŚ
People bump in a battleship. They also bump in cruisers. And the occasional frigate. The bumper arrives on grid first.
Iâve done ganking and it never involved any bumping. The usual tactic is to warp the gank fleet in to a âfriendlyâ mining ship that is actually part of the gank and which has slowly approached the target. The last thing you want is the target flying off miles away due to a bump. A gank fleet needs a definitive target to warp toâŚso they all arrive within target range.
Who said anything about bumping miles away? Iâve been bumped and had people attempt to gank me- they failed. They had a bumper. You know that ganking entails a bumper to keep the target from going to warp. In 0.7, for example, they get 10 seconds before Concord warps in and a mining barge can warp out in under 7.
Even agro bumping, when it was a thing, was to only bump lightly to keep the ship out of warp. Thatâs all. Stopping warp doesnât send the ship miles out. It just prevents alignment.
Have you ever been to a diamond district?
I have. Theyâre fun to fight in a T3C!
Player doesnât get his time or money taken away as a result. He decided to spend x hours (letâs say) on playing EVE that day. He got his play time. Whether during his session his EVE assets increased or decreased in value, is beside the point. The only thing transferable to real life from the game is whether the player was able to play the game or not (e.g. if the server is down, then the player loses game time). He was able to play, so there was no loss of time or money to him in such a case.
If you lose a ship, that shipâs value is not a loss of real life money. Itâs a loss of an in-game asset that doesnât even belong to you. Nowhere but within the game can you actually claim to own it. In real life there is no proof in any form whatsoever that you own any spaceships or space assets of any value. And when you get ganked in the game there is no difference to your physical self (except for others in the form of annoying forum posts maybe) to the point that other people canât tell a difference just by looking at you if you had a successful time playing the game or whether you got beat up in there.
Getting ganked and not getting ganked are exactly equal physical states in real life! Unlike the grandmother somebody brought into this argument.
Correct, but indirectly. And it is their own fault. We were out in open as criminals, they could bump us, they could wardec our citadels to have content. Instead they cried and still cries along gankhaters that ganking needs to be removed from the game. And CCP listened, nerfed ganking and now we are not criminals and we are not in the open. After the last direct nerfs to ganking, antiganking basically ceased to exists. All that remains is kill mail whoring, the lowest and most senseless âcontentâ there is.
Mind sharing catalyst fit with this kind of DPS? Arenât you confusing your T3C with Catalyst by any chance?
Wtf ? What has alpha to do with it?
I never did that.
I donât cry.
I only stated that this has happened and that this was direct nerf to the ganking. You gankhaters are really agressive both on forum and ingame. And while you constantly harass us with slurs and mocking, for some reason we are supposed be crying anytime we say a word . It is truly pathetic and laughable. Just as your kill whoring. Had this guy in catalyst sit next to me 4 hours to âkill the gankerâ. Then I finally found my target and shot and he killed me!!! What a champ, next time I will think twice about doing it.
Anyway this thread can be closed @ISD_Ritenuto it went offtopic and I found my answer on the google. Yes ganking, or rather any piracy in general, was directly buffed once and only once. In 2013 via adding Clone Soldier tags to quickly raise our security status up.
Any other âbuffsâ were indirect and not meant as a buff for gankers. There has been seveal direct nerfs to ganking though. Along with as many indirect nerfs as there was indirect buffs.
You seem a bit slow on the uptake, so letâs break this down.
Do Eve in-game assets have ANY value?
Letâs look at the basicsâŚ
Wow, Youâre a zombie.
Zombies arenât real.
Howâs your new marshal?
