Are you saying there’s a null pointer exception?

In 1908 Churchill lost an election for Manchester North West. Frank Harris, a friend of his wrote him in a letter:
“My dear Winston Churchill, I did not congratulate you on your entrance into the Cabinet, because I thought the Cabinet ought to be congratulated; but now I cannot help writing to express sympathy with you over that wretched set-back in Manchester: the voice of the people is always the voice of the devil and has nothing to do with the voice of God. If the masses are saved it will be in spite of themselves, as one saves pigs from cutting their throats in a seaway, for higher reasons than the pig dreams of….”

We’ve been asking for new missions for years. I think CCP is finally at the point where these can be created and added in an easy way. Hopefully, if this happens soon, your opinion will change that nobody is representing you.

Wouldn’t it be nice if CCP talked about this kind of stuff more and more openly? I remember a certain CCP developer that said years ago how much he would love to communicate more with the community. Sadly, that dev has sabotaged communication with the community since before he said this.
Telling the community about the work on a new mission system, about technical difficulties and how they are being overcome (they already drool over the server tech. More insights into other tech areas won’t hurt) and what new missions are in the pipeline and can be expected soon™ would help a lot. It would actually tell people that CCP is finally working on what they promised 5 years ago. It would give people the opportunity to give early feedback and voice concerns because we all know how limited CCP’s perspective on all things are. It would also be an important advance notice so that people can accustom themselves to what will come.
Null-sec domination of CSM is not the fault of the null blocs. They are more organised and engaged than other players. If their dominance of CSM is good for the overall health of the game, then CSM should continue. If not, CSM should be disbanded. This is a management decision for CCP and I doubt that complaining on the forums will have much impact.
Personally, I’d rather stick a pencil in my eye than join one of the null alliances, but @Brisc_Rubal seems like someone who does actually care about playstyles beyond his own.
It would be, but every time they try to be transparent, it ends up biting them in the ass, so they’ve stopped doing it like they used to. It’s unfortunate, but they don’t like announcing things unless they are imminent because if plans change, it blows up in their faces.
It’s a shame that this consistently happens and that they don’t take the risks anymore, but I can understand why they don’t, even if I don’t like it.
Majority of us care about other playstyles. EVE is dead without its players. The more variety there is in playstyles the more people can find fun in the game and enjoy it which helps everyone else as we get more interactions and shenanigans.
You have to be particularly dense to think that EVE will be improved by kicking out a large number of players (Olmeca style dense, on the other hand he killed his own playstyle and is now “enjoying” RL).
Players: CCP needs to bring things to the players early enough in the design process so that you can actually change things based upon feedback.
CCP: Okay. This is what we were thinking. Please give us feedback.
Players: This is terrible! You’re ruining the game. We need to riot -it’s the only way CCP will listen.
CCP: Welp, won’t be doing that again.
Sigh.
The Eve Online player base -debunking the idea of the wisdom of crowds since 2003.
You can’t bring terrible game destroying ideas and then hide behind wanting constructive feedback. Only constructive feedback for things like scarcity and blackout is do not do this. It will kill the game. 2 years later and lo and behold, those of us that said it was an amazingly bad idea were right but CCP did it anyway due to hurt feels.
Development of EVE is their job, it’s not some kind of friendship stuff where your feelings matter. Do a good job and players will be happy and there will be more of us so they can finance yet another failed FPS without going bankrupt-
Yep. Game destroyed. Literally unplayable.
You know she’s one of the three incumbents who were re-elected, right? What exactly do you think she didn’t already learn?
So, I think it’s important to remember a few things about this:
- The CSM has, for at least the last 8 years that I’m aware of, been pushing CCP to reform / expand the Mission system.
- The CSM has absolutely no ability to compel CCP to do something.
So right between those two, I don’t know how you think the CSM representing or not representing your personal issue would have any impact… because, you know, the thing you want them to advocate for, they’ve been advocating for since at least CSM 11. Steve, Mike, and Jin’taan all pushed for fixing the mission system over the years, among many others. (Remember: the CSM can’t tell you what CCP tells them, they’re under no such restriction about what they tell CCP.)
CCP has, from time to time, looked into updating the mission system, in part because of CSM advocacy. They’ve brought those attempts here to the forums, to ask for feedback from mission-runners. Here’s what they were told…
“We want new missions.”
“OH MY GOD, don’t touch the mission system you’ll break it!”
“We definitely want totally new missions, but we want those totally new missions to be just like our favorite missions, and not like these other missions.”
“Hey, wait, those other missions are some of my favorites!”
“Hey, wait, those favorites suck, don’t make crap like lhose!”
“How dare you touch my missioning?!? That’s how I make ISK and you better not change anything about it!”
“Don’t listen to those guys, they’re stupid!”
“Nuh-uh! YOU’RE stupid!”
“No you’re stupid!”
“They’re both stupid, only listen to me!”
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU JIN’TAAN WHY WOULD YOU LET CCP DO THIS OH MY GOD I AM NEVER VOTING FOR ANY CSMS AGAIN BECAUSE YOU DESTROYED MISSIONING!”
And, I mean… that’s pretty much exactly how the conversation went in each and every feedback thread, right down to players blaming the CSM for all of the horrible things that changing missioning caused, even though CCP never actually touched missioning.
And that’s also despite the fact that CCP (usually Guard) had raised the issue, not a CSMer.

Q. What has the CSM recommended, suggested in all the years it has been formed and CCP have changed?
Easy answer: making the red dot less obnoxious.
Beyond that, you’ll have to ask individual CSMs.
Great system this CSM. 10 slots, 8 out of nullsec, 1 from wormhole and 1 role player. All in a year where FW is supposed to be a key change in the game… maybe time to rethink this whole system if you expect the CSM to be representative of the actual player population and not just politics.
let’s not even talk about the lack of geographical representation…
Hi
So there is no records of CSM / CCP meetings. I am quite shocked at that. Is there any accountability at all?
