I have exactly the same problem, thanks for sticking someone else instead of me.
Holy cow I love cannon fodder!
Please educate me on how the community gets the attention of the Devs if not through their CSM? What type of double riddle speak is that?
Iām so glad 70% of the CSM is from NullSec.
Procurer in lowsec is always bait.
This theoretically wouldnāt work. We all know Mike is 90% hisec. But should a month or so into being csm, he moves to null. So now what. Now he represents null based on where he lives.
Considering you can actually buy (or PLEX) additional votes, this shouldnāt be a surprise to me. Still painful to look at, though.
dunno, but thereās some RP/HS/Pochven/WH/NPSI types I voted for this year and have voted for in previous years and very few of those types get in because usually itās 8 NS: 1 LS: 1 HS/industry/community/3rd party software dev type ratio.
Iāve voted all years but 1 since I started playing EVE 8 years ago. Iām pretty sure the people whoāve been running and losing all these years trying to represent the underserved communities also vote. (yes, I know there are examples of IRL candidates for political office who then admit they donāt vote⦠but it somehow seems far less likely in EVE, for the most part).
CCP never said they do the bidding of every CSM all the time (that would be impossible, for one thing, even in our nullsec-heavy CSMs, there isnāt unity of purpose amongst all the members).
So saying āoh hey, this nerf that affects null would never have happened if nullsec CSMs were evilā⦠come on, they want the OTHER teams to not be able to use that thing that null relies on, obviously.
You hit on something. Null wins, and will win in ANY scenario/voting system for the same reason special interests dominate IRL.
Null players are organized and cooperative because null space requires organization in ways the rest of New Eden doesnāt. Low sec lets you get by with being solo or in a small group and you end up with lots of loner and small time pirate type personalities. Ditto WH space. High sec is so easy to live solo in that grouping up is rare(r), so you get lots of solitary āsingle playerā types there.
But null requires largish, cohesive groups of people that can set aside personal needs (to an extent lol) to contribute to a group goal. So even though overall null players are a smaller group, that ability to cooperate gives us an edge in ANY situation where presenting a united front in required.
Which is why all that talk of changing voting systems and proportional representation ideas will fail regardless of what anyone tries. Non-null players (in general) wonāt ever be able to match the cohesiveness of null groups. Itās just not part of their personalities.
As usual. Null representatives. Atleast We still have mike.
It has a much better chance of fairer representation than what exists today yes?
The CSM should have 4 categories. Candidates for null, low, high securities and wormholes. Voters will vote whom they want to represent each category. 3 representatives on each category. Atleast pretend that there is a real democracy under CCPās dictatorship.
You know that lots of people play in lots of different places right? How do you handle to person who mostly plays in high sec but has a null sec alliance alt? or the wormhole guy who has a FW alt?
The results wouldnāt change either. You would have null sec groups giving āincentivesā to (for example) high sec players to vote for their slate of "approved "high sec candidates.
CCP has already changed the voting system a few times. Nothing changed, because itās not about the voting system, itās about the votersā¦
Itās not where play. They can choose what of those space they want to represent. Voters should vote 3 candidates on each category But yeah politics is still politics ingame or outside the game. They will represent thier personal agendas.
not really no. Where they live doesnāt matter. As the other Jenn mentioned, those who you think you are voting for high or Wh may be low or null⦠so how would that be fair for hisec or wormhole when people they would vote for, for their respective areas of space, pack up and move to where they really do live?
picking candidates based on where they live, would never work⦠because half the damn nullblock is in hisec anyway with alts for trading or in code. or safety.
Sounds to me like you want to safeguard the status quo. I wonder whose interests that protects. Food for thought.
i raise standings for other people through USIA, why do i care what happens in null when iām in hisec⦠and no, i donāt have an alt floating around in null⦠hate that place.
so again how would you expect voting for where someone lives would work, when they could easily pretend they live in those areas⦠are you going to enforce that they stay in that part of space and not allowed to leave?
So all null and nobody to stand up for the other areas of the game. Looks like we have a bunch of patches looking out for Null sec and the rest just get whatever CCP wants to patch through. Wormholers get passed up again. This isnāt a fair representation of your gameās population.
We need to just deal with it Null are experts on politics and deplomacy. Unlike the three space that ruled by hunters and gankers who are experts at thier gameplay but sucks on everything else in the game.
Wow I got a shock when I first saw the popup message at the top right next to my avatar.
I thought it read; āWelcome, Youāre the new CSMā /s
Then came back to earth and reread the thread title again releasing that the CSM name is revealed somewhere inside the thread post.
So yeah happy welcome new CSM, wish you well and hope your day is going great on this fine New Eden day.
