Easy. It was a joke. I was joking. I honestly don’t care about the economy or the market board. I don’t care about the state of PvP. I don’t care about any of that. It really doesn’t concern me. It’s not why I’m here.
Oh…well in that case every statement I’ve ever made is in a superposition of joke/not joke…like Schrodinger’s Cat, so I can spring ’ I was only joking’ on anyone should the wave function collapse that way
Fair enough.
I don’t know what is causing EvE to die. But I do know that whine threads like this cause a little bit of my soul to shrivel up and die.
Why are you here ?
To have fun! Play with friends, fly spaceships, shoot NPCs, and build a small corporation. That’s all I came here for. I don’t get a lot of free time these days which is why I cut corners with PLEX and skill injectors, but the goal is the same.
Well the irony is that people whining about ‘EvE dying’ poisons the well…and causes EvE to die. Make that two shrivelled up souls.
How do you know this? Aren’t you the same person constantly crying about people making suppositions and speaking for others? Where is your data on people leaving because of negative threads?
The same way people ‘know’ Eve is dying
You guys give a damn about data ??
Or is this activity so profitable that it’s gotten out of hand?
It would indeed be interesting to see data on what happened to players who lost ships to high sec ganks and didn’t renew their subscriptions, especially long-term players. Also, is the number of ganks going up?
I think this is a loophole in the rulebook that’s being exploited:
- Predictable, cheap losses = no real risk
- Against huge, guaranteed wins
- No reasonable counterplay
There’s no other PvP gameplay like this in Eve. Almost all other forms of PvP involve giving the target some option to fight back, avoid the threat, or disrupt the enemy’s activity.
Don’t tell me to d-scan, scout, or tank the hauler.
You know perfectly well it doesn’t work—when there’s a cloaked bumper on a gate, you’re toast.
I also hate having to worry about being scanned while doing Level 4s, for example. It used to be a chill activity—something to do when you didn’t have much time and didn’t want to focus 100%. Not AFK, but relaxed, unlike the intensity required in PvP situations. That’s no longer an option, even with a reasonably cheap fit.
The players who do this fight tooth and nail to keep it this way. It’s a culture war within Eve, but those who oppose it often simply leave, like I did.
I only lost two ships to ganking in high sec, losing less than 1 billion ISK in total. That was enough for me. No option for revenge, and fight back in a meaningful manner is the source of the issue.
I’ve lost and killed countless ships in 0.0, and those losses felt fair. I came back for more after each one. This didn’t feel the same.
I don’t have the time to play in 0.0 anymore because of the significant time investment required—form-ups that take an hour or more, endless roaming, etc. I just can’t do that anymore.
A valid argument I saw in this thread was: then this game is not for you.
I agree.
Look Zamp
my Audrey doesnt have a crush on Uriel, we are attached and our bond can not be broken.
Word on the Forum is that You Zamp (aka Vampire) is the one who has a crush on Frosty!
So you don’t want to d-scan, scout, or fit tank, and don’t want to be paying attention, all things that are pretty fundamental in EVE.
I’d like to go water skiing without skis, or a cable, or a boat. Think I’ll be OK ?
The only time DScan should be used is when the pilot is suspect or if planning to become suspect.
Miners with positive security status should be safe with the pilots status held by the various NPC members.
Think for a moment that holding a high status for the faction where the miner is currently residing then they should have he bonus of faction npcs showing up if the miner just happens to be attacked by a capsuleer pilot pirate.
Nooo. I may already know the gankers are in the system. But are they hanging around outside the station or gate I’m about to warp to ? D-scan is your friend
You typed everything with passion and it is the same type of passion that keeps Capsuleers returning year after year even with taking a break.
Being stagnant in New Eden can be seen as a way of keeping one’s assets as safe.

@Gloria_Exercitus no the decision was already made before the miner decided to undock.
D-Scan is for those pilots who didn’t undock wisely.
//it’s not about knowing that there are gankers in the system. It’s when you don’t care if they are in the system.
If you only looked like that in RL!
She didn’t say anything about people leaving the game. She just said that it’s causing it to die.
Two very different things.
Unless you equate less people playing to “dying.”
I equate dying to “less interesting and diluted due to stupidity.”
A lack of crash, tobacco, spirits and exotic dancers! how am I suppose to mine without crash and exotic dancers? It’s clear CCP doesn’t care about my drug fueled mining operation extravaganza. That’s why the economy is tanking, you used to be able to roll up a good cigar on those dancers sweet cheeks mmmph now I gotta blow lines of crash off the cockpits armrest like everyone else. BS!.
Indeed…the point is that potential new players reading all the ‘Eve is dying’ stuff may well question why they’d start playing a ‘dying’ game. So the true irony becomes that the very people who make out they care so much about Eve become the people responsible for its demise. It is called ‘poisoning the well’.
