It’s been done, several times:
From the few posts and discussions made about either release, it’s apparent that even EVE players (let alone a wider audience) weren’t particularly interested in them.
As with the very small percentage of players active in forums… most people download games to play them, not to read about them.
The whole “EVE is about the stories the players create for themselves” is just CCP marketing and wishful thinking anyway. Like every other MMORPG, EVE is about players creating an alternate world where they can make interesting choices and do things that feel rewarding to them. For the most part, the only story they care about is their own.

I dont hide in a 0.9 system in a bazillion EHP barge.
I mined one time in 0.9 while broadcasting my position in a 191 thousand EHP Exhumer. No hiding.
I only use that Skiff in one place. Brapelille.
It’s a 0.7 system. The difference between a 0.9 system and a 0.7 system is two tenths.
Not long ago I was in a Hulk getting 67.6 cubic meters a second. I did that in a 0.5. That is four tenths less than a 0.9.
I also fly around in a T3 cruiser. It’s my ship of choice when flying in low sec. It’s fast and cloaks. I took it ratting in 0.2. That’s seven tenths less than 0.9.
Then keep doing all that…and teach new players how to do all that more efficiently than when you did when you started
instead of shooting and killing them as soon as they try to enter through the door…
oh wait i forgot, you dont like Empire Building…you think this is Call of Duty.

Incidentally, check out those two systems I mentioned…even if only by shuttle…you’d be impressed by the sheer size of some of the belts.
