To me Eve is a game that offers something that other games don’t. But I can’t put my finger on it.

At its core, yes.

That is why it’s important to be prepared and keep yourself informationally informed. Because no matter the activity -no matter how peaceful, or pacifistic it is- someone is lurking in the shadows ready to push you off that cliff into that abyss of mindless pew-pew-you-dead game play.

And there are many different ways of shoving people into that abyss. That’s why EvE is such an amazing, grim-dark game.

But dealing with that is itself a part of Eve. No matter what you do in Eve there will always be someone who has done more saying ’ is that all you have done ?’ But every big cheese in Eve was undoubtedly once proud of their own first ship, first kill, etc. I remember my first kill was like a ’ wow…I finally did it’ moment. And the survivors in Eve are those whom nobody can take that moment from…or any subsequent moment.

What is EVE Online?

It’s a game is designed to beat human nature.

Coming from an era where “bored” games were all we had, EVE allows us to fight other humans on a scale unimaginable when I was young. Fighting an AI when games 1st came out is fine. But humans always find the pattern.

And until AI arrives and we, as humans have a more worthy adversary, EVE is all we have.
