What is the dumbest thing you have done in Eve?

Another one, dumb as well but not that costly …

… hauling PI with a sec status of -2.1 and chilling on Luminaire in-gate. Lost the hauler to the police, but was able to scoop my stuff later from the wreck. Thanks loot fairy.

I realized today that I trained 3 toons on 3 omega accounts, to do exactly the same thing… Fighting, in the same ships, with the same weapons… Now, I need at least a month or two of training to start to specialise in another combat type, or support roles, or anything else… And even more to be efficient in these new roles :weary:

Someone told me one day it could be usefull to have 2 accounts for different roles… He didn’t know how dumb I can be sometimes

“I’m so happy with my new gnosis and being able to farm lvl3 missions Alone is great” were my thoughts with my main when I bhought my first gnosis… “ohhh look, a Jove beacon! I wonder what is there?!” (with 90M loot in the hold from several missions)… “Aura, lets warp to the unknown”, “but sir, don’t you want to dock first and switch to a frigate?”, “Nonsence, we are in HS, what could possible sent wrong???”… [warp drive active… brrrrrr] “Ahh the joves are here after all, damn what are they doing? They are scram and webb me &€*#!!! Align align jump jump piece of $hit!!” BUUUMMMM
Lesson learned

Within my first EVE year, fell to a couple market scam, at the time when market tabs weren’t very wide by default and didn’t shoow all the zeroes:

  1. Bought a 300m Rifter
  2. Bought a Plex to get the ISKies to buy my first expensive ship, a Mach (around 800m), then proceed first to get a Tractor Beam I for 80m… except it was the same scamm and it was 800m. My first and last Plex.

I put a large order of expensive materials on the market a few years back.
I added an extra 0 to the price. Was in a hurry and just clicked off the warning.
Cost me 9 Billion in brokers fees…

its only 523 M isk. You can make such amount in one day exploring low sec in cloaking Stratios.

  1. What are suspect timers? I looted a wreck, and then joined in another site, died mouth open

  2. I joined in shooting a “knightmare” in my worm. Then wondered why they he wasn’t shooting them but just me. Lived. Learnt how to overheat and GTFO.

  3. I went to see what an FOB was, in my vexor. Died. I still go back. Learning how to solo.

  4. I’ve lost 3 gilas to;
    a. refusing to see my tank is failing
    b. Refusing to leave the site
    c. Believing the gila hype, without spending the required amount of isk to tank.
I learnt to align out, fit for the site, overheat and carry paste.

  5. Accepting a duel. This is perma refused and set to hell no… I learnt to have an alt and 20 people standing by to get in on the kill.

  6. Ganked a gnosis in a catalyst. Forgot to use a ship scanner and skill up. (torpedo nemesis now in training on alt). Alt Died.

  7. I didn’t warp with fleet to examine/loot wrecks. Learnt to not hang around in a plex after the gang has left.

  8. Sold 40 probe launchers for 100 isk each. Sold tons of stuff to other peoples buy orders. and wonders why it cost tripple to buy the same thing back. I Tripple check sell orders, evemarketer.com, and don’t sell to buy orders unless its more profitable than selling.

Overrall i’m sure i’m making loads of mistakes. But having loads of fun still.

P.S Change wardeccing, moon mining, and cargo/ship scanners.
PPS Love the grandprix.

Losing my 1b Legion from aggro at station, to a noob Rupture because I forgot my Nos was on, it reset my aggro timer and I was out of cap…

1- officer mod margin scam
2- taking a wrong turn in Oulley
3- 15m instead of 15b for that oh so coveted orthrus combat skin
4- thinking my legion was enough to kill a PFR comet
5- taking the occator bait after it was reported as bait
6 (ultimately #1) - getting on the forums

I’m still here after all that stuff, I know a couple of posters that would have quit after #3

In NPC Delve, was sitting outside of a station and a Goon cruiser comes up to my Hurricane, so I look at it and think obvious bait is obvious bait. So I say in comms I have a Goon cruiser sitting next to me, but fall to add the bit about obvious bait. A corp mate undocks in a Harby and goes for it, so I think damn might as well go for it, and go for it too. Because I had ignored him the Goon was a bit slow on the uptake, and he took a while before dropping his cyno, in come two carriers with points, but we were both burning and blow up the bait and warp out. Ever since I start with the warning first…

I managed to die to a Brutix and gate guns played by a better player when in a hurricane when acting as bait and I let him get to close too early and easily. So I was a bit annoyed with my failure and then agressed him with a jam in a blackbird before the others had started firing, then warped out from the gate guns directly to another gate where the gate guns finished me off.

Doing a cyno for a mate and I use a Condor, that is moving too fast, I ctrl-space and stop but I miss the fact that I am now out of range of the station, I light in comes carrier too far away to dock, in comes bumper in comes Super and my mates carrier dies. First and only time I ever made that mistake…

And finally, posting in these forums…

A few years ago, when I was just back to EVE after a long break, I was flying around in highsec running a mission. A wormhole appeared in system and a guy messaged me and asked if I could help him finish a mission on the other side of the wormhole… “sure!”

Boom.

Keep spending money on it cause it’s the only seemingly legitimate space MMO.
