What is the dumbest thing you have done in Eve?

Nope, the smart people don’t visit the forums at all, i never said i was a smart man

A couple days ago i was shooting structures at a cosmos agent beacon while sitting still and the blue elite frigates in the area decided they didn’t like that and attacked me so i tried to warp but to something behind me and i think i forgot to turn my rep on, I died. Lost a confessor. Cost me 180 mil to replace it and its fit. Also lost about 80 mil in drone capillary fluid i had collected from sentient drones.

Somebody bought 80mil worth of stuff from me in a market order, for 800mil. I was planning on quitting Eve when my sub ran out in a few days, so I didn’t need isk no more. So I mailed him about his mistake and sent him the difference (720mil). He didn’t reply with Thank You, o7, Kiss My Arse, or anything else. I don’t blame him, he probably thought I was drunk, stoned, or just incredibly stupid. And two years later, I’m still playing Eve, and needing isk…

Edit: Just recalled. The stupider thing I did was to give a guy who wanted an officer mods-fit super Orca I had, for no isk. I’d gotten it from an pretty legendary player who was quitting Eve and giving his stuff away. Again, was planning on quitting Eve, didn’t need no isk anymore…

When I started in 2007 I was doing missions and docking up every time I ran out of loaded ammo, unaware of the ability to reload in flight, LOL. This went on for like an entire day. Felt pretty dumb

There are just so many dumb things I did, here some I “painfully” remember:
Changed the suggested price for some items I wanted to sell and accidently deleted the decimal point - happened twice and cost mit 1b and 1.5b.

Closed a WH with my Archon. Due du German-Austrian miscommunication we ended up with two Archons and an Orca of the wrong side of the now closed hole (got out, thought).

I ganked some Rattle in a WH-system. Saw on Intel that there is a fleet heading our way, so I hurried back to the home citadel which was just one jump further. I exited the the WH, initialised warp to the gate, realized the fleet was already in system, landed on gate, realized the fleet was already on that gate and ended up with a Legion and a Damnation loss. The Legion pilot still had crystal implants. Total loss was about 2b.

I was bittervetting in a newly built Naglfar in front of our production complex in some low sec system. Went well for the first few hours, then it became bumpy and at last on less Naglfar. From now on, I only bittervet where I can dock again.

I lost an Orca flown by an out of corp alt to my own Pos - twice.

My third combat char was just ready (or so I thought) to fly a Loki and I decided to try it in a lvl 4 mission. I got webbed and disrupted and realized that I just can’t hit the stupid frigates. The incoming damage was just slightly higher than what I could tank and I was too far away from any help… painful 10 minutes or so later: one less Loki.

 So your actual dumbest thing in Eve is thinking you can quit Eve?

Eve is life. I find myself often thinking in “Eve pilot” mode more than in “I’m a human with a conscience” mode these days. Have to hit the soft reset and start being nice to people again.

get my frist tengu, not blinged.

Undock from Jita, what can I do ? move to a system

start scanning sites.

get one shot by a nade.

Not me but and a corpmate of mine decided to eject a bunch of ships from s ship maintenance bay at a POS…

Now mind you, this was in RvB and was prep for a 10,000 ship free for all. So a few ships was more like a couple thousand. The strategy was to eject the ships inside the POS shield so people could warp in, grab a ship and warp back to the fight zone. Did you know that ejecting about 2000 ships at once can cause severe server issues? Like take down the cluster, require a restart of the server and have GMs delete random ships till we could actually load the POS grid? Yeah… There’s a reason you can no longer select a bunch of ships and eject them at once. Our bad.

Undocked in highsec while nigh-untouchable station gaming war decers were on station. Lost my pod and my ship.

Lost several faction battleships because I had to go afk to go to the toilet. Always dock up before you go AFK unless you don’t mind losing your ship.

I was in a highsec corp that got absorbed by RAZOR some odd years ago and kept playing as part of that corp. (it was a “join the operation or get kicked” policy and crap)

Another dumb thing was train into capital ships. I wish I could refund those now worthless skillpoints.

Visited the out-of-game forums website for our alliance, I had just found out that it was hacked by Russians because my Kaspersky AV stopped the malware attack (RIP Kaspersky). And I just found out that the heads have known about the hack and didn’t care about it.

If I had known that I could file a petition against newbie hunters I would have done so 30 times during my first two years of playing Eve Online.

What is the dumbest thing? … The dumbest thing to do in EVE is the one thing you do, which teaches you the most valuable lesson of all.

For me was this to have brought outside expectations into the game. Hands down.

Thought I could give up Eve after the first couple of years so I gave my main to a friend. He ended up selling the character shortly thereafter. That was about 10 yrs ago now.

Too many to count,
Latest pinnacle of my stupidity costed me a 4-5 bill kronos just few days ago, was incursioning on one of my alts with fairly unstable connection after 1st disconnect i notified current FC about my situation and if it happens again i will not continue shooting isk for the remainder of night.

Shortly enough it did happened along with TS disconnection in side of an NMC site on a last wave my drones were still out when it happened so i decide to log back in and get them and dock not wanting to drift in a space a decision i regretted dearly.

Apparently socket closed message don’t means squat to eve server not just it didn’t disconnect me but it warped me away from site letting my drones behind and it warped me to a fleet next site another NMC so i log back in land on a NMC gate…

So if i was fast enough(and if eve server didn’t decided to screw me over that is) with loging back in i would land IN site but since it took me something like a minute it landed me OUT side(as long as someone is inside to keep site from despawning) or so i thought scanning a site i see our logi is inside and confirming my line of thinking that hi is a) in a site i DC from b) is a slow poke wasn’t aligned or simply didn’t take warp due to going afk for whatever reason(better to be behind a gate than not while stepping away from comp).

I took a gate in hope of recovering my drones to land in my horror to see a full site of NPC deleting him from grid and looking at my ship funny, dozen scrams lands some webs droneless and them in close orbit i was dead before fleet i just left warped back in to “save” a leeroy logi,
So what happened is whole fleet warped off 2nd NMC before taking a gate to a better site and logi for reasons known to him took a gate threatening to solo a site, in between them warping away and hero logi taking a gate my glorious intelectus self landed back in…

After shocking “what are you doing here” from logi pilot and me typing in local “what are YOU doing here” i looted scrap that was perfectly functioning kronos mere minute ago and dock up…i didn’t got the drones back.

I am gobbling up chocolate glazed stuffed donuts ever since to ease up the pain.

Came back from a 3 year break on Saturday. Kinda forgot about things decided to take my all my stuff to Jita to sell as I thought it would be a good idea to start over on a new character as so much has changed and I was confused about most things never really understood this game lol. Got ganked on a gate in high sec on my way now I have nothing so guess I got what I wanted in the end just without the back up isk . Really sucks but it is what it is and its my fault so you live and learn. Onwards and upwards

Clicking on an EVE add on Facebook and ending starting to play EVE… Now it is eating my life as I’m addicted…

the only advantage: it leaves me way less time to spend on the dumb Facebook…

Seriously? You want to call this the dumbest thing? It was literally the best thing you could have done, silly.

Gatecamping with a few buddies in my armageddon. Was off gate when i had to emergency poop, came back 20 mins later due to explosive diarrea. Blown up and podded

I remember the first Lachesis I made, had had a few beers and was messing around on the market and somehow managed to sell it for 17 million. A crushing experience for a new manufacturer feeling all good about making his first tier 2 boat.

Probably the first time I’ve seen FB genuinely enrich someones life. Now, go out there and collect some Chloes to dress…
