And whats wrong with battleship EHP ? Everytime I bring up an EHP buff to battleships bunch of people that fly caps jump in and scream that its not needed and is fine as is, so if you are a cap owner, you should not mind battleship EHP since everyone else that owns caps says its fine.
See the thing is, I frequently say the exact opposite. I advocate for massive increases in battleship EHP when the subject comes up. 2-3x their current values, minimum.
On a more serious note, I would like to see Batleships rebalanced. Not sure that just a blunt increase in EHP is the way, they do definetly need some, but maybe not this much. What I would like to see is a rebalance so that 2-3 Battleships can take out a dred, 5 can take out a carrier. By themselves without additional support.
This would follow the balance curve (line or graph or whatever you wanna call it) where 5 frigates easily take out a battleship, albeit, often with some losses, and 2-3 cruisers take it out by themselves as well.
But I think there can be lots of different stuff done that can be really interesting and add serious depth to the game, it doesn’t have to be jsut a flat EHP increase.
That’s where I lose support for this. EVERYTHING should require support. The idea that a homogenous group of “things” can be effective is fundamentally flawed in my mind. Even in small gang, 5 pilots against a carrier should really only involve a single battleship while the other 4 are flying hulls which synergize.
For example, a logi cruiser, logi frigate, tackle cepter, and ewar cruiser. They each provide support in a different area/way to round out the capabilities of the fleet.
Of course as it stands now, 5 dudes in homogenous doctrines will just facerape them because for as well rounded as they are, they’re not going to have a single facet where they’re exceedingly effective. But to me it shouldn’t be that way.
Yes. For example caps vs sub caps.
Where I think a lot of people get hung up is that capitals can support capitals… they’ve got the full spectrum covered. Carriers can engage smaller stuff with SFF and LGFs, dreads can engage battleships with HAWs and other capitals with traditional XL guns, supers have the same engagement profile as carriers plus their Heavies open up battleships and capitals, and Titans have their DD to bring to the game. All with logistics support.
Even then though, your cap fleet really will benefit from having subcaps to support them. They’ve some glaring holes in their coverage without subcaps.
