What's your role?

Humble

But I pray this is just the greenhorn side In you speaking in your behalf, pilot.

In this universe, competition is what improves us. The challenge towards greatness has rewards like no other. The chance at infleuncing the course of history for generations to come. You said you’re more of a “Political Grunt”? Well look around you, we as Capsuleers find ourselves on one of the grandest Political Stages known to man.

We work beyond the borders of nation states, walk with independence that colonies planetside dream of having, build entire empires of our own and cut out slices of the outer regions for ourselves to do with.

All this potential? Hardly something to just waste. We have a wealth of opportunity at our disposal to live our mark on the Maker’s world. To add breathtaking details to his masterpiece and engrave our legacy in every culture and ideology found within.

Don’t be so humble; pilot.

Clan chief? As of a Matari clan, yes? I’ve had some luxury of learning a bit about clans during a contract I had in Republic space years back. I admit I’m not fluent in the knowledge of how Clans work. But your scene as a leader to your family, not necessarily given your role due to age; but merit.

You’re a Capsuleer, quite common I imagine for someone of your status to be handed the reigns. With your powers you bring both wealth and fame to your name.

But a miner, eh? A Orca commander at that too. Someone who can link up with other members of a fleet and amplify their mining efficiency. On top of that be a drop off point for any barges needing to offload some ore - Or transport bulk cargo to trade ports or standing areas. Can even just barely fit a packaged Fortizar in one with the right fitting opitimzation.

“Look around, do you see what good our anger and rage has done for us? You don’t for it never has; only has it destroyed and killed. From breaking or favorite toy as children, to the destruction of entire cities.”

Page 32 of the Adakul text, I believe?

I’m no scholar in the material. But have a mixed stance in the Adakul’s teaching. One side of me applauds the lessons of self control of your emotions. But find it insulting that our anger is labeled as “negative”

We have our emotions for a reason. Not one is a evil and all serve a purpose to us as humans. One should not shy away from their anger. But of course learn not to be uncontrolable. To have no control over your emotions is to have no control of yourself I’d say.

Marvelous is it not? We’re free to make our fortunes in this Cluster. There’s nothing we can’t buy or sell that comes within our possession. We’re free to utilize this wealth we accumulate to accomplish our own goals and agendas.

With that, I should note that the economical battlefield is just as violent and vicious as any warzone you’d step in. As a warrior, I embrace this.

What can I say? I’m a man who can read into interpretation like that.

But a nomadic spiritual seeker then? Quite interesting. I’m a spiritual man myself, a wayist to be exact. As a Capsuleer I’ve done similar journies; not in search for answers but to admire the work of the Maker. The one who designed and brought our world into existence.

A masterpiece with incredibly then detail. Just look at planets for that. Barren worlds, plasma worlds, temperate and so forth - All of these planets are beautiful pieces of art that hide a deeper meaning.

It’s up to intelligent minded individuals such as scientists to peel back the layers and study the craftmanship. To learn and admire the work done left for us to find.

If interested - Perhaps I can point you in the direction of the Windchime Order? You might have some interest in the material they teach.

I might describe a broader interpretation of Rao’s works with the analogy of the stratagems among board-games.

Chess is a popular game, and in many respects, its principles are well represented in the Federation. Chess requires a domination of the centre, and seeking to bring your opponent into a decisive engagement in which there is little dispute as to who is the victor and the loser. Such thinking is prevalent among many of my fellow citizens. Whether it is politically in the halls of power where bills are fought over by the partisan pawns and the Rooks and Kings of politicians and their special interest lobbies; or in the realm of military tactics where the emphasis is on reducing enemy firepower with sensor dampeners before bringing them to destruction with a singular decisive charge with overpowering blaster plasma fire and acts of bravery, heroism, and elan.

The influence of Adakul among Jin-Mei culture is reflected in the game of weiqi or its more popular name among Gallente: go. The objective of the game is not about a singular decisive battle. The aim of go is the creation of momentum through positioning and considering the potential play of the board ten, twenty, or thirty moves in advance. If you try to play go like chess and immediately seek to control the centre you will rapidly lose as you are outflanked and caught out of position by your opponent. To win, you have to recognize that advantage is an iterative process laid down stone by stone over a long period of time.

This is why Jin-mei treatises on statecraft and warfare emphasize victory via the creation of iterative advantage and the promulgation of momentum over time in which economic performance creates the framework for national strength, competent government permits the better allocation of resources to further the national interests, and the creation of a strong sense of national morale and elan mobilizes the citizenry to further the ambitions of the State. The objective over time is to create such a national position vis-a-vis others that resort to violence or war can be considered a coercive act of last resort because others, political, cultural or otherwise are just as effective.

The teachings of Rao are thus cautionary: don’t try to play chess when life is more like a board of weiqi – which is much larger and full of hidden dangers. Trying to play the game of life with the too short a sight, like when you are angry, or frustrated, or desirious, or under the sway of other obfuscations of feeling and emotion then you risk only damaging yourself.

Anger is by its very nature an emotion tied to the primal instincts of every human being’s hardwired lizard brain fight-or-flight responses, so if anything what Adakul seeks to instill in its followers is that as a human being you have far higher potential through your higher cognitive abilities that living your life in accordance to your primal lizard mind’s instructions is a gratuitous waste.

I should have written reluctant clan chief, as i was more or less forced into the role. Our matriarch died with out naming a successor, my clan had a meeting and bobs your uncle i was suddenly chief. And yes matari, the mining is a combination of a social club that makes a bit of isk.

I am disappointed to hear that but to each their own.

I could definitely arrange for a catalog to be sent out. I have to confirm what the status on Export is out of Origin but I will get a products list sent out.

Unfortunately combat against other pilots is not my primary focus. I am more interested in elevating myself as a businessman, scientist, and author over elevating my skills at warfare. So no, frankly, I do not think I should seek improvement as a pilot. Although that might be the wrong way to phrase it.

I do feel I could gain some small improvement as a pilot, but I feel that will not matter in the long run. I served in the Federation Navy prior to my becoming a capsuleer. I fought during the Sansha War of Resurgence as a capsuleer, and in a few other conflicts afterwards. I’ve long since discovered my skill set lies somewhere other than warfare and have decided it would be better for me to pursue that instead.

An interesting interpretation of life. The Rao teachings are something that I’ve kept a open mind to for some time.

But forgive me for providing my anadoticle experiences here, but I’ve found more success in embracing my aggression than smothering it out in most scenarios I find myself in. Intense moments of combat primarily, as a warrior I don’t see it fit to turn away something that can aid me in intense and passionate moments of battle.

Drunken with rage they call it.

Why so reluctant about the role? If I was to be nominated the most suitable candidate to become Patriarch of my house. I’d beyond honored to be given such the prestigious responsibility of leading the next generation.

If the elders of your clan saw you to be the best thing to replace the late matriarch. Then I’d trust in their wisdom and take pride in the new role of I was you.

You mistaken me, I’m not claiming you need to improve solely at warfare…While admirable if you did, there’s still plenty to excel at as a Capsuleer. I was just providing my example of how I separate myself from the rest.

I take it these talents you speak of reside more in scientific fields than battle fields? Very well then, do what you must to improve at that skillset you have.

All the paper work, the whines and lobbying for isk. It’s easier to ask for me to spend than to take from last years profits, don’t get me wrong I care for my clan and the people in it. But jeez can they work hard to wrangle isk from me, it’s a very exhausting task to educate them…

Management and logistics mostly these days. I left home searching for adventure, intrigue, and explosions. Somehow I ended up stuck behind a desk with responsibilities and ■■■■.

between helping to maintain my corporations war-fund and replacement program (As well as ensuring the hangars are always stocked) I also oversee nearly 100 extraction and manufacturing colonies on various worlds, as well as high end manufacturing. with just a little bit of drug manufacturing on the side.

but ocassionally I manage to pry myself away from my other responsibilities and undock to shoot at things.

I am living the dream, doing nothing, and that the whole day! I’m also trying to be a good girl so my mother can be proud of me.

If I have a few minutes to spare, I sometimes sell stuff I find in space : )

A adventurous pilot plagued with the unfortunate fate of being grounded and chained to a desk position. Immortality bound to paperwork. Sad but sounds like you make the best of it.

Managing colonies is a job nonetheless that a Capsuleer can handle exceptionally well. We can create new homes for settlers to find refuge in, then give them a purpose there. To dig up and mold the raw materials found on these worlds left for us by the Maker and turn them into rare components necessary for many things us Capsuleers take for granted.

As for drug production? A questionable market. On one hand drugs are a pollutant that can destroy and enslave. Where on the other, drugs are a means to elevate your mindstate temporarily. To veiw the world though a new perspective this has found use both in philosophy, art and battle.

As Capsuleers, we can afford to take the negative effects of stronger, more pure booster dosages head on. But for the common man with a long life to live? Synthetics are probably best for them.

So you fly matari vessels?

Yes, flying minmatar vessels are not without their difficulty. At first you see a vessel in your hanger - looks well made despite the crude material used in its construction - But you only realize you’re flying a pile of scrap and mold with tapped taped on when you’ve already undocked and went though a stargate.

…A joke of course.

I’m noticing a lack of ambition in you pilot. While…I can respect your desire to earn your mother’s praise. I cannot myself give praise for considering “The dream” a day of slouching and unproductivity.

But I assume from your following sentence of “Selling stuff in space” you’re a bit of a Trader. Someone who’d more likely to be lazy only so they can kill time for their buy/sell orders to be fulfilled.

In that case…Keep on trading, pilot.

Specific, a custodian of sorts lurking around for deployables left by independent Capsuleers? Well you serve a role in keeping those MTUs from cluttering up without a soul to attend to them. As well as preventing any Rogue Drones from finding them and stripping them for valuable components.

So i say keep it up…

Another CEO, fleet commander and head of your family. A natural born leader from the looks of it. One that was destined to be put in a position of influence so that your true talents may shine.

How about you tell me of your clan? Is your scenario similar to @Rana_Ash? A reluctant leader who was put to power though uh unfortunate circumstances? Or was your rise to leadership for your people given to you out of merit and desire?
