When is CCP going to fix ECM?

How much longer do you need? Afaict they adapted by no longer using it… unless you count ECM drones, which are used now more than any of the ships that are specialised in that form of ewar.

No, if you use ECM drones, yes, but the other ewar drones are useless, which is why no one ever uses them.

like for damp’s you can burn in closer to counter them and with neut’s you can offline your mwd or sacrifice some rep in order to get more cycles off on your gun’s or for tracking disruptors you can fly in a straight line to reduce transversal

Burn in and get exploded, cause that’s what they want! LOL, you may have seen some leet pvpers in an AT offline their MWD to get that last bit of cap out of their ship, but in ‘real’ fights it’s not going to happen, because once you’ve dealt with that pesky neuting ship you still have the rest of the fleet to take care of, and now you’re without a prop mod… so you get exploded. And guess what happens when you fly in a straight line… you guessed it, you get exploded.

Countering ECM

Now you should understand exactly what ECM is and how it works within Eve. How is it countered? In order to make it harder for ECM modules to jam you you simply need to increase your sensor strength. You can do this in a variety of ways:

• Get a bigger ship. Bigger, more powerful ships have naturally larger sensor strength: e.g a Merlin (frigate) has a sensor strength of 11 while a Raven (battleship) has a sensor strength of 22.
• Sensor Booster modules (mid slot) - These can be loaded with ECCM scripts to increase the strength against jamming. As active modules, they can also be overheated - and will normally overheat for quite some time.
• Signal Amplifiers (low slot) - These modules are similar to Sensor Booster modules but use low slots and give smaller bonuses.
• Remote Sensor Boosters - These allow you to remotely project ECCM script support on to your friend’s ship.
• Gravimetric / Magnetometric / Radar / Ladar Sensor Compensation skills - Increase sensor strength by 4% per level of their respective sensor types.

Again, plenty of things like neuts, 70km webs and 70km points also have no counters in solo pvp. Why hate on ECM specifically?

Why hate on ECM specifically?

As previously mentioned ECM was so compatible and OPd on such a large variety of ship classes.

Its role is better in fleet than in solo. While Neuts require a narrow selection with their own host of problems and are therefore more niche.

They wanted to keep a broad role for ECM so they are widely used in Fleet.

Yes, and I’m fine with keeping the widely used fleet t1 ewar ships being used for exactly that purpose. However, currently there’s almost zero reason to use the t2 variant over the t1 considering the increased costs as well as the t1 versions outperforming the t2 ships. By giving ecm back to t2 ewar ships, they will actually be used both in fleets and solo play.

It is better asked how can that be possible? If you cant target you are 100% useless and can’t resist. What gray area can you come up with to counter this mechanism?

Look, the reason why you would use a huginn (T2) over a bellicose (T1) is because huginns are simply better at webbing targets from long range.
The reason you use a blackbird (T1) now is because it has better jamming range and is cheaper than the rook (T2)

They made the incredibly stupid decision of creating 1v1 instanced PvP and in testing they found out since most care bears know nothing about ECM it was a win in 1v1.

So they made one of dumbest, no lore, no reasoning changes ever made in EVE.

Then they made a BLOG claiming ECM had no counter.

I’m not sure if they thought we were that gullible, anything that sounds good?

And in fact, there are counters to ECM. They’re the opposite of damps, instead of moving closer you move farther, out of ECM range.
