The NS stat in the graphs is either majority attrition of genuine new players, or new alt characters of extant players.
Why is everyone avoiding answering this?

I did not. I answered saying I think the majority are new players and listed reasons why. I also suggested that if you remove kills with cyno modules, you would eliminate a good percentage of the alt losses in nul and low sec showing more clearly the number of new players lost in nul and low.

Afraid of nothing, but merely noting there is no way to answer the question as to which hypothesis has the greatest support.
You are asking what is basically and empirical question.
In fact, in Bayesian statistics one solution is to formulate hypotheses and give them all equal probabilities, this is called using a non-informative prior. Then you observe the data, update those probabilities using Bayes rule and there you go, you look to see which hypothesis has the greater (conditional) probability of being true. You take that hypothesis as the one that is (conditionally) true. As you get more data you keep updating. And it is also possible that more than one hypothesis is true but that they have different magnitudes…
But we don’t have any data at all…so it is all just conjecture that is based on prior beliefs.
Why waste lots of time on that?

The logical continuation of that, is what are those new characters being killed, and where.
Hence the question I presented repeatedly.
It is eminently important, to distinguish whether the NS new character attrition stat in the graphs is via genuine new players, or extant player alt new characters.

Sure, but you have gone beyond the limitations of the data. Data is only as good as the limitations of that data. Going beyond it we won’t be able to get definitive answers.
But keep asking for answers to a question that is, ATM, largely meaningless.
