Yeah, it was pretty nice. If the removal really was for stability reasons (no idea how bounties could cause ‘lag’ but with the CCP legacy code… you never know ^^) they should absolutely work on re-implementing that somehow. It didn’t hurt anyone, since all of the money was given voluntary and with the last payout-method it was (like 25% of the hull costs of the ship the guy was blown up in) it was almost impossible to exploit for “farming them with an alt”.
Why?
You didn’t know. EvE is filled with all sorts of obscure minutiae like this.
The important thing is, did you learn anything?
You can use ZKil to get an idea of what times they are active, and what systems they haunt.
I truly hope that you do end up hunting KR targets. Not enough people do that in this game.
When you think about it KR is kind of retarded, because the ppl that get ganked and usually earns them are ppl who are doing industry or mining. They couldnt care less about PVP
I will give you a term “statute of limitation.”
Sme laws in the real world really do have time limits.
In eve though, yes, i totally agree, if some dick has blapped you, you should definitely have free reaign on them without time limit.
I think 3 months, minimum.
There’s definitely no harm in extending this to 90 days.
Yes, CCP should do this. And provide a way to search for publicly available kill rights. CCP could use the code for contracts to organize it.
I’ve sold one or two. The more humorous of the times that happened was when the guy messaged me back and told me he died twice after failing to do any reasonable damage to me initially.
The only real abuse I can see for this is by the way of character selling. There would need to be a way to display if the character has any outstanding killrights on them.
That doesn’t work if the bounty payout is less than the value of your ship.
Though, I will suggest, bounties should also be a contract. That way the bounty money wont just get eaten up by normal pvp. Allow a player to take a number of contracts equal to their bounty hunting skill, and give players better tracking tools (for a fee) for contracts they have taken. (Such as remote locator agents.)
Part of the rules is acknowledging whether or not a char has kill rights since it transfers with the character
That’s good. Yeah, I can’t think of how this could be abused further.
Maybe by tricking some newbie into attacking you, and then waiting until much later for the “crop to grow?”
Alphas can’t even go red anymore though, so CCP’s newest players shouldn’t be too at risk of this tactic.
Perhaps a warning could be issued in the npe, that not only will concord respond to unwarranted aggression, but the attacker will also receive a killright on their head that wont expire until it’s been used.
Locator agents should be replaced with a station service that is usable in every station.
Forget the locater service - you should be able to add anyone with kill rights to a watchlist (auto-removal when the kill right expires or the target is destroyed).
How do you intend to destroy your target if you don’t know where they are?
People with kill rights should be arrested in real life for non-consensual pvp, willfully inducing severe emotional trauma and destruction of digital assets.
I think we’ve completely jumped the shark here…
