Heâs not showing how accurate he is. Merely how much CCP doesnât use their own creation to the point where Eve Online doesnât even really exist on their own forums.
Itâs more than likely because Reddit is the uncontrolled message and the EVE Online forums is the controlled message. Thus, more negativity is going to be allowed on Reddit than EVE forums and require more attention from CCP to help nullify said negativity.
With that, extremely popular topics that are either good or negative can stretch beyond the EVE subrredit. It could break into the massive pool of non-EVE users and cause massive trouble (or good) for CCP.
I mean, you canât compare EVE forums to Reddit. Itâs just the IT platform right now and youâre going to have more communication there just as you do in Twitter or mayb Facebook.
Letâs not ignore that by CCP going to Reddit and caring for all the toddlers there that they also do us a service in keeping them away from the official forum. You want to have your kids in their own rooms as a parent.
Actually, EVE does help when it makes loss meaningful. Only do null-sec alliances quickly replace any losses for their members just so they can continue to be happy toddlers. If they had to mine even for just one day to replace their losses then youâd be hearing a completely different tone from many of them.
Guilt by association, if someone posts something that is mostly ok, but adds something bad say in it, and he replies to the OK stuff, is that wrong. I donât think so, people are people and you canât control them.
I have seen a CCP dev in Reddit reply to someone who had a question and was offensive, so he gave the answer and suggested he chill out. Was fine in my book, you canât get upset at a dev doing that and other peoples actions.
Do you agree this official forum exists for players and devs to interface?
Do you agree this official forum is moderated by thoroughly vetted ISD and Community Support staff?
Do you agree the rules here are fair?
Do you agree r/EVE is moderated by players without any CCP vetting/approval?
Do you agree r/EVE has content which a) violates TOS/EULA for ingame communication if it occured there b) violates rules of this official board if it occured here?
Do you agree that a dev posting in r/EVE can be assumed to have read the content in the string before responding in it?
Do you see what Im getting at, and what the issue on devs posting on r/eve is?
Reddit is always seesawing between extremes. The Poster mindset is easily swayed with pretty pictures and posters and Valiant speeches before war or deployment.
It is a place were an Influential player can Order the Silencing of any other post or thread with Vote manipulation with the hundreds or even Thousands of EVE Players at there command, to Upvote or Downvote. It is a Medium too discuss the popular topics, but the unpopular opinion is easily suppressed and shoveled away.
EVE Forums are different. You cannot be silenced by other players for stating your opinion, assuming the rules are followed. We are also bound by the PG-13 Rating.
The forums may not be as popular as they used to be, but it is essential so that ALL can have there voice heard instead of what is popular that week.
Devs should post primarily here, so they themselves, the topic, the discussion, clients involved in it, EVE IP, and CCP can be protected by vetted moderators.
On r/EVE currently, the above is âprotectedâ by mods that sticky their own âF*gâ post, and then get rewarded for it with 2 gold stars.
That would be fine, where it not for the fact that CCP staff seem to prefer that toxic space, to their own vetted moderation/paid for/official forum.
Are you sure theyâre swastikas? You do know the Naziâs appropriated that symbol. It has never been theirs, only tainted by their cause. Navajo blanket.
