Why Do We Even Have Forums?

I can screenshot whatever I want, and submit those images to whomever I want.

As seems to be the case above, TOS/EULA does not extend to r/EVE, in this regard, either for me as a private person, an EVE client, nor CCP staff.

Lets find out if that is so.

Do it then
Show how Authoritative you are :joy:

Authority is not an issue here.
Culpability, is.

And if there is one thing you can be sure of on my part, is I always deliver.

He’s not showing how accurate he is. Merely how much CCP doesn’t use their own creation to the point where Eve Online doesn’t even really exist on their own forums.

It’s more than likely because Reddit is the uncontrolled message and the EVE Online forums is the controlled message. Thus, more negativity is going to be allowed on Reddit than EVE forums and require more attention from CCP to help nullify said negativity.

With that, extremely popular topics that are either good or negative can stretch beyond the EVE subrredit. It could break into the massive pool of non-EVE users and cause massive trouble (or good) for CCP.

I mean, you can’t compare EVE forums to Reddit. It’s just the IT platform right now and you’re going to have more communication there just as you do in Twitter or mayb Facebook.

Let’s not ignore that by CCP going to Reddit and caring for all the toddlers there that they also do us a service in keeping them away from the official forum. You want to have your kids in their own rooms as a parent.

Its controlled by the r/EVE admin/moderation staff, which are players with no official vetting as compared to moderation staff on this official forum.

At some point in time people also expect the toddlers to grow up though… Sadly Eve doesn’t make any requirement for players to be adults.

Actually, EVE does help when it makes loss meaningful. Only do null-sec alliances quickly replace any losses for their members just so they can continue to be happy toddlers. If they had to mine even for just one day to replace their losses then you’d be hearing a completely different tone from many of them.

“I cant call someone “F*g” on EVE-O!”

“EVE-O is ■■■■ and tyrannical!”

“r/EVE t is so much better cos I can!”

“Hell I can even do it as a mod and get rewarded!”

“CCP, see? Our player-run site/moderation is so much better than yours! Come here instead!”

Guilt by association, if someone posts something that is mostly ok, but adds something bad say in it, and he replies to the OK stuff, is that wrong. I don’t think so, people are people and you can’t control them.

I have seen a CCP dev in Reddit reply to someone who had a question and was offensive, so he gave the answer and suggested he chill out. Was fine in my book, you can’t get upset at a dev doing that and other peoples actions.

  1. Do you agree this official forum exists for players and devs to interface?
  2. Do you agree this official forum is moderated by thoroughly vetted ISD and Community Support staff?
  3. Do you agree the rules here are fair?
  4. Do you agree r/EVE is moderated by players without any CCP vetting/approval?
  5. Do you agree r/EVE has content which a) violates TOS/EULA for ingame communication if it occured there b) violates rules of this official board if it occured here?
  6. Do you agree that a dev posting in r/EVE can be assumed to have read the content in the string before responding in it?
  7. Do you see what Im getting at, and what the issue on devs posting on r/eve is?

I’m pretty confident they don’t post here because they don’t like you. Go away for six months, let’s test the theory.

Reddit is always seesawing between extremes. The Poster mindset is easily swayed with pretty pictures and posters and Valiant speeches before war or deployment.

It is a place were an Influential player can Order the Silencing of any other post or thread with Vote manipulation with the hundreds or even Thousands of EVE Players at there command, to Upvote or Downvote. It is a Medium too discuss the popular topics, but the unpopular opinion is easily suppressed and shoveled away.

EVE Forums are different. You cannot be silenced by other players for stating your opinion, assuming the rules are followed. We are also bound by the PG-13 Rating.

The forums may not be as popular as they used to be, but it is essential so that ALL can have there voice heard instead of what is popular that week.

The EVE forum is like toilet paper. Only when one needs it the most does it find appreciation.

Its very clear they dont like me based on the string linked here. Ive NEVER posted on r/EVE, not even once.

I was away for a month and post less than before thereafter, but hasnt made a difference.

The state of forum(s) is not my fault, unless you truly believe little ole’ me can wreck these boards, alone, as a supreme troll beyond compare.

I’m all for More open discussions on the forums, but lets not bring Political feelings into it.

I have even seen a guy who had svastikas beside his name there. Maybe he thought that was funny.

Devs should post primarily here, so they themselves, the topic, the discussion, clients involved in it, EVE IP, and CCP can be protected by vetted moderators.

On r/EVE currently, the above is “protected” by mods that sticky their own “F*g” post, and then get rewarded for it with 2 gold stars.

That would be fine, where it not for the fact that CCP staff seem to prefer that toxic space, to their own vetted moderation/paid for/official forum.

Are you sure they’re swastikas? You do know the Nazi’s appropriated that symbol. It has never been theirs, only tainted by their cause. Navajo blanket.
