Why do you play in Highsec space?

Whenever I did PvE, my setup was 100% focused on either the avoidance of PvP, or on winning the encounter. My PvE ships always had tackle mods, energy warfare mods, et cetera. The reason carebears lose when being baited is because they are willingly unprepared to fight. Or they take fights that they shouldn’t take, which is exactly the type of “mental” conflict I referenced earlier. Which brings me to…

No one does this. This is nothing but a straw man argument to try to discredit pirates, who don’t make fun of players who play smartly, but those who play stupidly.

Nope. The noobie was prepared, and the mission-running vet wasn’t. The noobie was the better player.

Now you’re just pulling stuff out of your ass.

WoW’s stat scaling between level differences, closely resembling a normal distribution, was so extreme that having just a one-level difference between two players resulted in something like a 50% efficiency delta, and with a two-level difference that became over 90%. Fighting someone three levels over you was almost guaranteed suicide, unless the other player literally didn’t know what they were doing.

You most definitely didn’t go around ganking copious amount of higher-level players, and especially so when you were outnumbered three-to-one.

You’re living proof that eve is one dimensional and all mechanical stats. For WoW you even bring up a single level difference and the statistics of loss but before I was max level I often times won fights against people higher level than me even scoring a couple of skull kills. Sometimes I’d even defeat two to three players in a group despite being lower level and that phenomena persisted against max level characters in epics while I had a mix of greens and blues. My experiences say otherwise. YOU didn’t go around ganking other players that were higher level in a three v one because you lack the mental skill to pull it off. I did not. In eve, because the game is so reliant on mechanics and stats that you can plan something and know you’re going to win but in WoW, that was never the case. Player skill was the determining factor for damn near 99% of fights with the exception of like a 13 level spread and most pvp took place at max level anyway.

Eve is basically full of tryhard rejects who like pvp but were never good at it in other games while they try to promote that eve is all about pvp but I remember when I first started playing it the marketing was it was about whatever the player wanted.

Yes, your personal, statistically-outlying, selectively-retained experiences say otherwise.

Of course I did. I just wasn’t delusional enough to think that that was anything but a statistical anomaly enabled by the utter lack of game knowledge by my target.

Lack of game knowledge? That’s all eve ganks are about. It’s why half of you need scout alts. Because of the lack of knowledge due to game mechanics. My personal experience isn’t even statistically outlying because there were countless pvp videos out there showcasing the same thing. Montages of many fights even.

There’s not much practical difference between an EVE player who puts 17 billion ISK into a Badger and sets it on autopilot to Jita, and a level-capped WoW player losing a fight to someone with a character 4 levels under and still using their quest greens.

Yes, both of those happen. And both of those are the fault of the player getting killed. And both of those are utterly hilarious.

And that is a good thing. if you want to permacamp 20+ systems you still can, now the diff is that now you can’t go to work and deny content from ppl at same time. Same as before, you just need to be at keyboard.

What about the bots? Do they need to be at the keyboard?

The problem with Eve is that there’s very little scope for something the equivalent of a small submarine or a dive bomber taking down a massive aircraft carrier with a single torpedo or bomb. Those are real things that can ( and have ) happened in warfare…and the equivalent of a Condor taking down a Titan. But…in Eve…DPS and EHP practically decide everything in advance. There’s no subtle vent, like in Star Wars, where if you aim at just the right angle you can blow up the entire Death Star.

So you just end up with an arms race of bigger and bigger ships, and then people having spent so much on some monster ship that it only ever gets taken out for a Sunday drive in a 1.0 system.

Yeah Wow did away with Level’s meaning something in PVP like a decade ago. PVP has been normalized for awhile in WOW.

I would argue the best PVP WOW had was during the WOD expansion when PVP gear had Resilience. Man PVP was awesome back then. I do agree PVP in EVE just seems extremely boring.

Ok, just look at this way.

The counter to FREIGHTER SUMMONING is GLARING OF CATS.

If you really want to cast a freighter, you should pay an extra mana for DETECT CATS.

No, no it won’t ROFL.

You can still drive off PvP fit ships. You realize most PvP fits have LESS tank then PvE ones right?

Oof. The abelism.

Oof. Again the abelism. Also, they die because they suck

Then why doesn’t everyone do it?

How are they the better player if they lost?

Wut. If they are properly fitted, a T1 frig ain’t breaking their tank LOL.

Do you even play or

LOL it is not. If it was, more peeps would do it

LOL ok bud.

Ok now you’re just trolling LOL. Esp when you highlighting WoW as the pinnacle of PvP LOL.

oh, if only eve pvp was more like PlanetSide 1 pvp. i would love to see an eve version of ToDs. or interfarms, etc. those could last for over an hour and still be great fun, filled with lots of kills using all kinds of weapons. and if ccp introduced a new type of vehicle we didn’t like, we could go underground for a month in protest. one can hope, though. some day, maybe. some day…

Does PS2 still have players?

I miss hot dropping from a gal onto a roof.

I haven’t logged on ps2 in a while, but i have a friend who still plays it, so i’d imagine so. also, some former ps1 players have gotten their hands on a server (or something like that) and are trying to keep it alive. check “PSForever.” After all, SOE isn’t around anymore, so there was a new company that took it over before it closed down in 2016-ish (i think). and the cool thing about the ps1 revival is they really keep the hackers under control. much better than in 2012, when i quit due to them.
