I’ve yet to actually see the ’ your corp has a wardec with this one’ flag on a person…though I probably would if I visited the nullsec sov area. That said, I don’t even have the skills yet for even the lowest level ‘doctrine’ ship.
So join a corporation that does wars. Simple!
If you can fly a BC (and lower) with T2 weapons, you can do wars just fine.
Story time!
Yesterday I was eyeing up a Goon in Amarr. I saw him come in in a Megathron, and some time later, let him leave in it. Then I quickly gave chase in my frig. I caught him 3 jumps away, and attacked. I figured that he was plated, but I was shooting at that armor for like 10 minutes, and it was ridiculous.
At about 15% armor, he ejects his pod, and warps away before I can switch tackle.
Okay, whatever. I recover his bugged-out-damage-meter ship, and take a look at the setup:
I fly the monstrosity to a local citadel to get some free repairs, then bring it to Amarr, where I quickly repackage it and put it on the market before I can get Goon cooties.
Three hundred million ISK richer, but still very shaken from seeing such a terrible setup.

I was at Amarr a few days ago and noticed that you were now ‘bad standing’…and allied with RIOT. I haven’t seen Safety in Oipo for days…so I take it they are no longer acting as your mercs.

As far as standings are concerned, I don’t know whose standings you’re referencing (AO’s?), but I’m sure plenty of people don’t like me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
No, I have my own little corp as Altara…and bad standing is just from a general list of ‘ganker groups’. AO’s standings baffle me, though no doubt Governor Lee has reasons for them…but when I see Black Flag destroy 5 AO ships in one day at one gate I put them on bad standing even if AO has them on ‘neutral’. Five ships in one day is not what I’d regard as neutral.
Well, I haven’t ganked anyone, so…

I still don’t really understand the bait Nereus I encountered. I mean, yes, I understand how he reduced his shield recharge time down to just 46 seconds. But it actually hasn’t prevented the guy from being blapped by as few as 3 ships in 0.9 space. The bait Nereus seems to be his main activity, and he mainly succeeds…but it seems his bait ship is extremely vulnerable to high alpha shots that negate that recharge time as his basic EHP is not all that high.
I used his fitting to create a bait Gnosis with a recharge time of 130 seconds, and an EHP of 43K. Though in fact at half that price ( 350m ISK ! ) one can just create a 100K EHP version without the shield purgers.
Just dont kill pods and you will not loose much sec status in low, or you can get 0 sec hits by hunting in null.
I actually like people like Aiko they think they are big shots living in null then when you drive by and their ship explodes their comments in local are priceless.

Yes, they are susceptible to high DPS. Bait ships mainly win because of rubes who aren’t expecting it.
Dedicated combat ships with good fittings will usually get you.
PvP is an art and science. I’d say the best suspect baiter out there right now is Adrian Vexier by far.

That’s a very common wormhole rolling megathron fit. Higgs rig, 500mn active and all (non-restrained) meta plates in the lows for maximum mass for a low price.
I guess the cloak and mjd were his bare minimum defences, but as these ships are often accidentally rolled out and/or caught, he kept the fit as cheap as possible.
