As the question says, is that a compliment or a mockery,1VN is often encountered in ESS, and usually GF I take it as a compliment,But in the case of 1VN, why do we need GF? I kind of wonder if it’s sarcasm。
It depends on how you interpret it.
Both…
If you send somebody a GF in a completely one sided fight. Like a BS vs a Retriever or some such things your not doing it to actually say GF. That is more of a mocking GF.
If I lose a ship I always drop a “gf”, even if it was one-sided. They managed to tackle, hold and kill me, so it’s a deserved kill. If I kill someone, I usually don’t drop one first, unless it was a real tough catch.
“gf” very often means “lol you got dunked on”, sometimes it means “that was actually interesting”, the rest of the time it’s just something you say.
First time I seen GF I thought it was Girlfriend and they was calling me their B***h
I always say GF after shooting it out with another player, regardless of who won or how “fair” the fight was.
I rarely mean it to be sarcastic or rude, even if the fight’s outcome was obvious before it even started. For me I’m just happy to be playing and finding another player to shoot at. I’ve moved past the part of my gaming life where i needed to be “great”, and have left the pistol whipping and teabagging your dead body while saying terrible things about people’s mothers behind me.
It’s just a courtesy, just like you would nod to your neighbour on the street. But I will admit it’s hilarious sometimes how people fly off the handle when they feel that it was ‘not a gf’
I always tell people to gf themselves.
‘gf’ is a good disarming mechanism. It lets the other person(s) know they are not going to get any salt out of you. And vice versa, if its you who wiped the floor with someone else, it lets them know you don’t care if they are salty.
gf miner
Git Fukd Noob… anytime I write it in local. Thats what im saying… GF.
When the FC says “GF’s in local boys”… it doesnt all mean the same thing from everyone. So its both riducule and praise. But cmon, lets not pretend that more than 2% of fights in eve are anything but one-sided.
To be fair, I don’t think most people would call it a courtesy when throwing out a gf after a gank.
The amazing thing with GF in local is, that every participant of the fight knows exactly how it is meant. I‘ll drop it when I lose and it was something like a fight, else I compliment with GG for catching me. In case of winning I post it if the opponent shot back, else I wait for their GF to respond. In fleet, the FC decides.
And yes there are the really good fights where both sides had their chances and the result wasn’t determined from the start. It‘s quite rare, because it only happens if both sites miscalculate, but it’s the best of EvE.
Upon being suicide ganked, a miner should congratulate the ganker on his success. A “good fight” or “gf” in local is customary .
Kids these days… *tsk tsk
Me no say nothing but last one who tried to kill my ship got hit by concord, they didn’t say anything not even oops!
depends on context like all communication.
I never looked at like that. If I was unlucky/stupid enough to get caught, I always said GF just for catching me.
I fly for my life. If you can catch me, you deserve a GF.
I might have needed to add context.
If the aggressor says GF to you after he popped you in a fight he knows and you know you had no hope in hell to win. If the victim says good fight first then that is ok. If the aggressor in that situation says GF first I think they are just mocking the victim. Unless he does as it as a default meaning he has no awareness at all.
I say GF if I get caught and killed no matter the situation. And sometimes even before I pop as I know I am destined to pop.
