Man, I am the “ecosystem” guy you are talking to.
My view is anything but “very limited”.
You are misrepresenting me as having said things I have not.
oh quit whining about jita special rules, it is the only system that constantly stays well over 1k players all the time. we had tons of people missioning there because they never needed to go any where to sell loot or to buy new equipment and ammo, we had mining fleets living there because of the belts it had, I could just dock and sell ore straight to jita. those things we removed to make people leave jita and to lessen the load on that node because it was horrendous. I could mine in Jita and not get ganked.
Also the reason why 1 hub is dominate in eve and not real life is you can go across the galaxy in 20-30 mins and get everything you want in 1 place, if it took anywhere near that in real life to go to the central area of a country we have single hubs too. America would have 1 megawalmart somewhere like Kansas supplying the whole country, so if you want to dismember a hub lets hear some idea that don’t involve killing everyt bit of interregional transport like separating all the regions by low sec because thatll just make everyone move to caldari space.
That was already addressed.
I was wrong that Jita was the only tradehub system with special rules.
I agree. But though its convenient, I dont think its good for the game.
It exists for me. Sufficient reason.
Hi-sEC EXIsts becaue I am Gay
This cannot be the case as highsec has been part of the game since day 1.
Try again.
someone is butthurt.
show me where highsec touched you.
without highsec, we’d have ALOT less players…which would hurt the future of this game. (keep in mind if someone doesn’t want to live in null or low sec, you can’t force them. they would leave first and that would hurt you. not them)
having highsec doesn’t hurt null or low sec. if anything it benefits it by helping retain players who need a break from pvp for a bit, or who aren’t ready to go into the non stop pvp that is low and nullsec.
without it, alot of people who still getting used to the game, or who dislike that high stress environment 24/7. would jump ship to other games
Because it’s an ancient mechanic and no one cares enough change it or fix it.
Sure, we’d have fewer players if there wasn’t highsec. However, the ones we have wouldn’t be wastes of space.
sure…and then CCP would have alot less money to work with.
its better to leave them there so CCP can have funds
than to kick them out and expect CCP to work with less funds
they not causing any problems in highsec that hurts you in low or null… so you can ignore them and continue your low/nullsec life.
and be happy that at least on occasion they might try to come to lowsec, and thus give you some content or allies. rather than leaving the game and never giving you that content.
the emptier the game, the worse it will be
the more people in the game, the better. even if alot of them in highsec, at least u can gank them or wait till they come to low/null.
No. Jita was born after CCP shifted the gate network. The former trade hub used to be Yulai as it was the centre of the former network, and still was for a while until a small group of traders organized to move the trade hub to highsec. They noticed how in the new gate network, Jita was in a central position and close to both Caldari and Gallente stations, which back then where very popular races. So those traders started seeding the market in Jita by bringing there their goods. Being in highsec made difcult to disrupt the trade (unlike Yulai) and thus Jita slowly gained traction among highsec dwellers. Eventually other trde hubs were seeded in Amarr and Minmatarr space so racially locked players could access trade hubs. But it all was an organic process. Jita first became a trade hub, then got its own dedicated node, and then its own reinforced node to deal with activity, but as far as rules go, it has never enjoyed any rules different to those applying to the trade hubs and other key systems. And those rules came well AFTER it became a player-made trade hub.
A quick and simple solution to “encourage” trade to spread out would be to simply implement Empire based taxes for non citizens of those various empires.
I.E. If you are Gallente and want to trade in Jita you get taxed extra due to “import taxes”. Same for purchasing. Wanna buy that sweet bit of faction loot, you gotta pay the tax to export it out of the empire you bought it in. Slap a 10% or even 20% tax on all traded good that are brought across empire lines in either direction. This is how real world countries do things already. It makes no sense that we all get a free ride on hauling trillions of ISK worth of good thousands of AU across multiple empires and the empires they travel through and are sold in dont take a cut.
As for Null-Sec loot and goods. They gotta enter empire space at some point. So they would be taxed the moment they are put on the market. and since it is an empire tax, using player stations to evade taxes wouldnt work.
If you wanted the absolute best tax rates you would need to travel into Null and find a station that isnt subject to empire tax rates.
no, in lore wise, many Intaki are Caldari Citizens after siding and fighting for the Caldari as they did not agree with the Gallente watering down their Customs and such.
I am Intaki and will not take oppression and watering down of my culture by a group of frenchies.

I’m not sure Capsuleers are citizens of anywhere anymore…

Yeah, I always wonder why some people want others, some of whom are paying customers, to either play their way or just leave.
High-sec exists so the highsec gankers can exist.
Hisec exists to give you an illusion of safety, it’s up to you to make that illusion a reality for yourself.
It wouldn’t work.
Instead, everyone would just roll Caldari trade alts and continue as if nothing had changed.
How many dozens of skill points does YOUR trader alt have?
There’s no reason to guess on this. I was playing the game when this happened.
Jita became a player-created trade hub before any special rules were in effect. The rules were put into place because of the massive lag that used to exist due to the number of players visiting the system. There were times where your toon could be stuck for days without being able to do anything because of the massive lag.
To improve performance, CCP removed all other reasons for people to go to Jita that were not created by the player base. This is why there are no belts and no agents. There used to be.
The current rules for Jita were caused by the players. The restrictions on the system were an effort by CCP to fix a problem that they themselves did not create.
