Ive quit the event. I just dont see anything there thats worth the time invested.
Im guessing the devs thought we finished the last one too fast. I have other games to play instead of spending all day here. Small doses of eve are all i need from time to time…not endless hours of something i really dont want to do, no matter the rewards.
Honestly, linking your own old posts as ‘proof’ is hilarious. That’s not evidence, it’s just you high-fiving yourself.
You’re out here acting like a ‘white pony’ trying to bail out CCP, but all you’re doing is cherry-picking one tiny thing I said to try and drown out the real point. It’s a classic forum tactic to dodge the actual conversation.
I assume when they get Vanguard up and running they will need to add Easy Anti Cheat to this game, that should eliminate the need for reporting and stop the bots. Until we see the EAC loading, they expect us to report suspect activity. I am certain there are methods to get around EAC, but they are probably too complicated for the common naive botter.
To sum it all up, if you suspect a bot, report them. You are not required to report anything, just enjoy the game. Soon enough Karma drops in on them, she starts eating all the food in the fridge, hacking on their PC, and breaking their electronics.
Vanguard isn’t part of EvE ( and most likely will die in a fire soon anyway ), so they’re not going to add EAC to EvE. And if they do, they can say goodbye to a lot of paying non-botters, as EAC is hated more by legitimate players than botters in games that have it.
Some people are just “difficult”. You get them the info, but unless they see it posted from an official source they don’t believe it.
Also instead of searching for themselves if they have this need, they jump on you instead of just asking if they could have the original source or search it by themselves.
Really?
It took me under a minute to find an official source of these report slides. Far faster than i could have written any complaint to Geo Eclipse Oksaras.
Here it is:
@Vynn_Gravonere
In case you don’t want to click it as it is from the CCP/FC facebook account - well thats your problem. Geo Eclipse Oksaras tried to spare you from getting in contact with that.
Banning 4,000 accounts is a drop in the bucket. In a game like EVE, where bots are basically disposable and can be back up and running in minutes, those stats are just security theater. It doesn’t matter if CCP hits the ban button a few thousand times if the trillions of ISK those bots already pumped into the game stay there. While CCP celebrates a Facebook slide, the rest of us are still stuck with the actual economic damage.
This isn’t about whether I can find a link; it’s about the fact that CCP’s “solutions” like the constant bounty nerfs, only hurt real human players. A bot farm doesn’t care about a nerf, they just scale up. I can’t do that.
If you’re happy settling for a monthly report while the game gets worse for everyone else, that’s on you. But don’t act like a couple of slides fix a broken economy that’s been sliding for four years
I’m not being difficult, nor am I being foolish. I know how to read a link. However, I can also tell when people are trying to derail a thread, shifting the focus from a systemic, integral issue to something completely atomized like CCP’s ban reports. which in reality are not a final solution as long as CCP continues with their nerfs.
if CCP is doing such a “great job” with bans, explain to me why they keep nerfing the economy? Or why do they nerf ways of making ISK that bots don’t even use? I haven’t seen bot farms rating in Capital ships, yet I see constant nerfs to Capital ratting. I am using Capital ratting as just one example among many other activities; I’m clarifying this now so you don’t “cherry-pick” that single point to create yet another intentional distraction.
So… please don’t insult my intelligence. I’m smart enough to see when I’m being led by the nose into territory that isn’t the core of the discussion I intended to raise from the very beginning
Frankly, I wonder if FC cares (or should care) about who’s running the content. It could be bots, a multiboxer, or a hundred solo players such as yourself.
The point is that some activities are easy, scalable, AFK-able and similar, so participation is high. I don’t think this can change, without fundamentally changing these activities themselves. So, botting really isn’t the main issue, I feel. Mining will always be a low ISK activity due to how low-effort it is and because the sanbox simply requires that.
FC has certain goals with the game’s economy. The whole point now is to reduce costs of ships and to tame the amount of ISK in circulation. Think fighting inflation, making economy more accessable to new players and so on.
Removing botting completely, in theory, could help. But in the end that won’t make mining that much more profitable. Even then, I have no stats on how much “damage” do bots cause and I assume, that you don’t have such stats either.
If you feel that these activities offer lower rewards, due to being low-effort and oversaturated by others (such as bots), then why don’t you reconsider your choice of your money making activity? Also, FC is trying to make ISK stronger overall. Lower rewards and costs is the design goal. It feels as if your dislike for bots is kind of besides the point here.
I’m not going to keep chasing the “meta” just because CCP decides to nerf another activity.
CCP provides the tools and the options to make ISK… why should I have to abandon an activity I’ve chosen and trained for years. If I can no longer choose to play the way I enjoy because it’s been balanced around botting or inflation then CCP hasn’t fixed the economy—they’ve only succeeded in ruining the sandbox.
There is no meta to chase. Mining always was a low income activity, by design. You also have to consider that CCP has also nerfed the market, prices, costs, etc. Everything is relative.
You don’t have to abandon anything. If you, as a solo player, chose to specialise into a lowest effort/income and most low-friction profession… Then keep at it, if you want. It is your choice. But…
Where do you get this from? One of the goals of reducing inflation, is to fix mining first.
We’ll have to see if FC is happy with this, how the sandbox is going to react.
It seems that this is exactly the crux of @Vynn_Gravonere’s complaint. The value of mining coincides very nicely with all the balance changes. It is very unlikely, that changes in mineral prices are driven by botting.
So, the problem I have is, that they don’t consider the sandbox as a whole and use botting as the sole factor here, essentially as a red herring. It is very hard to have a sane discussion on botting. Especially as botting is this unquantified bogeyman.
