“You don’t have to like it, but you gonna accept it, or the door is right there”.
But the thread title is on point, it captured exactly my thoughts. The way the game works seems to punish the base of the pyramid, it’s almost like it’s a social experiment.
Broken or not - the system is what it is… I think it’s too early to even speculate what if any changes we’re going to see as a result of Fenris becoming independent again.,
Now that we’ve moved past the “adapt or leave” and the circular logic, can we actually get back to the point?
To those trying to give me “advice” on how to make ISK or telling me to just go play something else: I didn’t ask for a tutorial.
I’ve been around long enough to know how to play.
The issue isn’t my bank account or my lack of knowledge, it’s the fact that the game’s core balance is being sacrificed to fight a botting problem that CCP’s current strategy isn’t solving.
It feels like some of you didn’t even read the post; you just got triggered because someone pointed out the flaws in your “everything is fine” fanboy stance.
I’m open to a real debate about the economy, but if your only contribution is “it is what it is” or “just multibox more,” you’re just proving my point about how much the player base has settled for mediocrity.
Let’s talk about why a single-account human player is being treated like collateral damage while industrial-scale scripting gets a free pass
Industrial size scripting comes with industrial size PLEX and sub purchases.
Single account human player comes with either the $20 sub OR the $25 PLEX the other player spent to sell him that PLEX and the hope he gets strung out on skins or boosters.
That’s the only explaination you need because it’s the only explaination that matters.
Hilmar makes all rules with his wallet ( and getting the most out of yours ) in mind.
That isn’t really the issue OP seems to be presenting us with. Most games aren’t single-account games and EVE is no different. So your points are very valid and business motivations are obvious here.
The problem is OPs presented idea:
The very first paragraph is the most telling.
They probably haven’t been playing pre-2019 and don’t really understand the economy yet. Biggest changes towards mining are related to scarcity and all of that. If the game is balanced for bots, then botters are the ones funding the game, no? Anyway…
All of this is very ironic, since the user is a bot themselves.
I mean, it’s ideas are valid to an extent. Bots do “consume” an undefined% of profits in certain activities. If that’s it’s point, then I can’t see anyone disagreeing with it.
I guess that’s the end of the discussion, then.
The thing that irks me, is the feeling that OP doesn’t seem to understand, that if boting wasn’t a thing, FC would’ve nerfed mining either way. It’s the calim that this is solely/primaraly due to botting. That is the problematic part.
So now, when you have nothing left to contribute, you just accuse me of using AI, English isn’t my native language, so I use tools to check my grammar and make sure I’m being clear. If your only way to debate is attacking. BTW I use translator + grammarly. its no AI.
I already responded and explained everything, you just ignored most of my points. Called everyone a fanboy, accused everyone of circular logic without actually explaining why and brushed everything off.
What do you want to discuss? A blindly repeated statement, which you weren’t able to assert in the first place?
Please, discuss. Go back, read my comments. Respond. Post some actual arguments. Elaborate.
And I didin’t know that Grammarly started using AI, but could be. Haven’t used that tool in a long time. I can only read what you post, I have no clue what you’re intending to say besides that.
Unfortunately the base of the pyramid always gets screwed. No matter where you are or what it is you’re doing. The only prospect for the base of the pyramid is to get out of that ‘class’. Get to a better income bracket, get to a niche activity, but get out of there. Get some control over what happens to you.
PS. I don’t like to refer to such people as ‘base of the pyramid’ as that would imply they are somehow worse or ‘lower status’ people than others. And that is not true. It’s not a hierarchichal pyramid, although many have such a simplistic view of things.
Not defending anything other than the fact its THEIR game and they change it or the Meta when they feel it needs to. Every player is like you in that when our ships or gameplay is changed we have to adapt to the new changes or find another way to play
Is this one of those “let me tell you about all the good things that bots do…” kind of argument - or was this an attempt at humour? I don’t think that bots are heavily subsidizing the player base - since it’s more than likely they’re PLEX’ing their account for free (so in actuality, the reverse).
But there are no PLEX which have not been paid for, aside from the few given out as event rewards etc. and if there were not multiboxers in game to buy said PLEX for ISK, then the people selling PLEX for ISK would get terrible prices and thus not think it worth buying PLEX to put on the market.
You cannot understand a market if you only look at one side of the trade.
One: How do you think they get that PLEX if it’s not paid for? Why do even those with reasonable brain activity fail to understand that PLEX is paid for with cash to FC regardless of how it ends up used? In order to obtain the PLEX with ISK, someone must BUY the PLEX with CASH to trade to you for that ISK.
Two: Go look at your launcher. Look in the lower right corner at the little game feature blurbs. As they cycle through, you’ll get this one: “UNLEASH THE POWER OF ALTS!”.
