Why is the game so complicated?

I’ve been playing this game off and on for years.

The reason I delete the game every time is that I lose my ship because I don’t know and someone else knows. Every time I think, "Okay, this time I’ve learned the game, and boooom I lose my ship.

No matter how hard I try, if I stay in a place other than hi-sec for more than 10 minutes, my ship will be destroyed. And these battles are never 1 vs 1.

  1. I lost my ships the first time because if I were to group up with larger ships, maybe I could fight. 3 Vindicators vs. 2 Carriers Of course, I didn’t realize that those who played before me had larger ships.

Result: After 10 seconds, I rage quit the game.

This is my third Rattlesnake loss in a month. Why: Apparently, someone can teleport you to another location while you’re standing in front of the station, looking around.

Result: After 10 seconds, I rage quit the game.

I probably look like I’m crying right now, but guys, this game is hard to learn and even harder to play. How long do you think it will continue like this?

It’s okay to don’t reply. I won’t be looking at this site or playing the game again anyway. But it’s a real shame; this game could have been in a much better place.

The only way that I know of, where another player can actively cause your ship to “teleport” is if you’re in a fleet and they activate fleet warp

Stay out of low sec and null in large, fancy and expensive ships. They’re sluggish, easy to catch and they attract trouble. That’s it, that’s all of it. IF you want to try stuff in low sec or null do so in smaller & cheap ships you don’t mind losing.

Because there is always going to be a bigger fish, a better prepared fish or a fish with more friends.

Rattlesnakes shouldn’t be used in low sec unless you have friends. I recommend flying something cloaky that can still punch pretty hard, like a Loki or Tengu.

Years ago when I had first tried Eve Online it took a while to understand that just because we are able to walk around in the station, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we can land on planet or moon and that we just fly around n a pod.

when eve players tell you what you did wrong(after they kill you) they’re trolling you, those losers are eve, sorry that’s their nature, assclowns.

mostly it’s the same losers logging in with same accounts/or alts.

Everyone should look forward to the evemail that thanks the new capsuleeer.

Try flying cheap ships outside HS until you have learned about most common strategies to get killed!

Without looking at your zkillboard loss I assume someone ‘booshed’ you 100km away from the docking radius in a Command Destroyer with Microjump field generator.

It’s one of those common strategies you get to know about by living outside HS for a while.

Try flying cheap ships while you learn, it’s a very expensive lesson in a Rattlesnake.

The boosh takes time to spool up with animation too, so it is telegraphed. If you ever see a Command Destroyer get close to you like that, be wary. In this case you should have docked back up.

It takes as long as you play. You will keep learning about ways to kill and get killed and stay on your toes for new strategies that people might come up with.

It’s part of what makes EVE fun compared to solo games: your competitors are smart, human, adapting and unpredictable.

But if you put in a little effort you can outsmart them!

I saw that typo, it was glorious and you should keep it.

I accidentally the Reply button and posted halfway my post.

Go Covert, that’s the best way to fly…

I do like covert ships, but even those can get caught if you don’t yet know the mechanics people use to catch others.

Hello, Azuleas

What you doing in Low-sec alone in Rattlesnake? That battleship. Boats like that never travel alone, it called “battleship group”. You fly a fleet ship all alone in deadly water. Good luck.

Low-sec is place for evasive maneuvers unless you are th hunterr with lotsof firepower skills and tractor beams and photon torpedoes…

Why you standing in front of station looking around? You like be sitting duck? Use bookmarks or keep moving/warping so you don’t be dropped on with pants down by probes or scout. They know you are in the system already don’t make it easy for them.

There is a clear warning message when leaving HighSec! READ IT!

Never undock in anything that would hurt you if you lose it. Learn the Game in cheap ships! Find friends who can teach you! And always pay attention to what happens around you, else someone might take advantage of it.

I have never found this or any other game overtly complicated. I was in local chat the other day and noticed a line like this; asswdaw wda. I responded, you can’t use wasd to fly your ship. It is all point and click. Select where you want to go on the overview, right click and warp there.

People will ask for the best fit and they get a ton of ship fits sent to them in chat. There is no best fit for ship X. What you can do is based on your alpha/omega status, what you are doing, pilot skills, and lastly the ship and parts. It is like someone at a D&D table asking what the best armor and weapons for the game, you look at the character, and they have a level one cleric.

Chat is all too often full of the wrong answers. Especially rookie chat. For the first 30 days, nothing but rookies are forced in there. One or two vets show up, sometimes the ISD moderator, and tons of rookies giving their poor advice to other rookies.

In another game, I played years ago, they used a chat system by level, meaning you talked only with people within your level. There was a mentorship and this teamed you up with a veteran to learn the game. The vet earned extra XP and gold for the inconvenience. In my opinion, I don’t think Eve is complicated enough to be in need of that system.

Maybe they should add an idle fishing game?

EVE has an idle fishing game:

Just make sure not to overfish the pond or you may spawn many hostile NPCs.

I feel as though you are flying drastically overpriced ships for the kind of gameplay that you are currently able to engage with. If you are at a point where you are flying Vindicators and Rattlesnakes then there’s a certain level of experience and understanding that you should also have reached.

I’m going to advise you to keep your ship choices small and cheap until you really know what you are doing.

I don’t sweat losing 100 million ISK ships, but yes I do agree, fly cheap disposable frigates and destroyers into battle. Even after you know what you are doing, I would still fly the cheap ones. I think the FF4A hosted by Rixx Javix should be sometime in the spring of 2026. While that is a nice free event, you can always find where people are having fun blasting on each other with frigates.

I have this trio ( PRICE corp ) to make money for my PvP account. These girls are just mining gas, when needed. I haven’t been ganked in a long time, mostly because I am very cautious where I mine and my hauling routes. It seems to me, the more expensive the ship, flown into a PvP 0.4 or less systems, the better chance one has it will explode faster. If I run a punisher, it feels like I get more time out of any combat. I think the other combatants seem to focus on the ‘big bad’ threats and ignore the little scrappers like me. In the end, you lose whatever you fly into that warzone.

Have fun!

Losing your ship doesn’t have to be the end, you can buy a new one…

Step 1: Fit a 4 Billion ISK ship

Step 2: Have no clue what you are doing

Step 3: Lose 4 Billion ISK ship

Step 4: Shocked Pikachu Face
