Its not the first time I have been wrong, or admitted it.
I know what a pain in the ass it is to explain to others how they are infact wrong, and I apologize for you having to have made that extra effort on my part.
Ima did whine about Extractors, when she herself is now questioning whether to pay CCP for a sub or just run off her SP Farms. That is hypocritical, I agree.
I voiced my concern about this, CCP and the community at large did not listen and where fine with the consequences.I told them this would be possible and lead to armies of free omega gank alts and I told them THAT I WOULD ABUSE THE ■■■■ OUT OF THEM, no one cared.
So this has nothing to do with hypocritical but is a simple consequence of a stupid addition to the game. There are actually two things to complain about: 1) a non-vanity item in the store 2) skill extractors as an item. I have a problem with both parts, but (2) is a gameplay issue which breaks some balance while (1) is just a greedy shitty move to monetize a game further which already has one of the most expensive subscriptions.
The people smart enough to think that far didn’t care, but those are also the people that don’t have a problem with it. The ones that do whine about it now couldn’t comprehend it back then, just like they can’t comprehend their own failures now.
I thought the original idea for skill extractors / injectors was to move skill points from one skill group to a different skill group while maintaining the exact same amount of skill points for that character.
Then someone decided having the ability to sell those skill points for ISK was a good idea. So now we have players in-game farming skill points for passive ISK generation.
I could have sworn CCP was against having passive ISK generation available in-game.
No, you didnt.
You should have joined me in my resistance back when it was relevant.
Instead you chose to fight and ridicule me, not the issues at stake, at every turn.
I warned you all what SP farms would do, but you laughed, made them, and now wonder why EVE suddenly doesnt feel like it should.
Well with Activision and EA boasting profits from microtransactions in the multiple billions, GTA:O having boasted over 750mil in MT revenue in 2016 and MT being a core focus from CCP for several years now
how is anyone even surprised?
But either you enjoy the product as offered or you don’t like it. The EVE you knew isn’t coming back. WoW Classic will be a cynical shythole full of MT and other garbage 100% guaranteed.
If you want MT to die then get it legislated but be warned some of your fav games will die with it.
Lol, what are you talking about? I was speaking out against this THE SECOND the first devblog hit and I predicted that there will be SP farms and free gank alts coming from this.
Ima and I both explicitly pointed out skill trading would result in free ganking alts for all who want them:
Also free PI, industry, mining and whatever activity can scale well with a fixed number of SP. Such considerations of balance, as well as the effect instant reskilling would have on shifting metas seemed to be either ignored or just overruled by the accountants.
Honestly, beside the-more-money-for-CCP-the-better-for-the-health-of-the-game argument, I have not seen a compelling defence of this change to game. It is basically unusable by true new players and only serves as mechanism for newly established players to “catch up” to more established players who have been playing longer. But largely it is just used by the most powerful to rapidly create resource-generating alts to increase the power gap between the elite and the plebs.
While I think I object to it less on a philosophical level than Ima as I think trading skills fits fine with the dystopian and capitalistic nature of the game, I don’t think the issues of balance SP trading introduced were considered properly nor CCP ready or maybe even able to properly react to them.
Time will tell but I think SP trading will be a short-term gain but cause long term pain with probably a net negative effect on the game in total when all accounting is done.
Its been what…2 years? But your just now getting around to abusing them?
Also, are there now armies of free omega gank alts? Real question. I was not aware that gank alts, as a percentage of the population, was up significantly. If so, very cool!
An increase in ganking might actually tally in the “benefits” side of the injector debate!
So now that I am up to speed: Are you saying that you have enough gank characters training each month to cover the subs for those accounts AND pay for another account?
No, my main will obviously not gain any additional SP anymore if I do that. But there is not really anything useful left to train anyway since I have already 220mil SP
Hmm. The economics must have changed wrt to SP farming. It used to only take 6 characters on 2 accounts (multiplayer training packs) to generate enough residual to PLEX a 3rd account (single player training).
Otherwise, your ‘abuse’ of the system was pretty low level compared to the possibilities and predictions. I mean, I would certainly have made a ton more alts so I could take advantage of more ‘free’ characters.
