Why The High-Sec Mining Hate?

I will undock tornado and go afk, just to keep bumpers busy

Well. If you want to pay a sub for ‘not playing’, your choice. As long as they are around, you aren’t ganking at least. So they win and you paid for nothing. To call that ‘fun’ someone has to be a pretty strange mindset.

I do not see a problem in this as I do not always need all characters in the same time, so I can allocate some of them to keep bumpers busy (as they will be happy and it would not cost me anything). So solution is strange as ship can be out of dock most of the time without a pilot. There are some pods like this in HS.

Then have fun playing on other chars.. I really don’t know what you are arguing for? I said nothing more than that bumping will prevent Tornadoes from ganking successfully. The moment you decide to go afk that is achieved, you won’t gank anyone while being afk.

I’m pointing that it is a weak solution. As you can waste time on bumping afk tornado while player is roaming in Pochven/Null/etc or even working. So not sure what was achieved except you was busy.

Then read again, maybe you get it.

Nah, this is too complex to follow religion.

There are two types of miners.

Miner 1: It is their chosen career path, they respect other players and what makes the game fun for themselves and everyone around them. They accept that their profession is not a combat profession and accept losses that potentially come with this territory. These are the people that will swap out of a Rorq to do home defense fleets because eve is not about the isk they have but the fun and friends.

Miner 2: They are only PvE players, and because of that they feel that they are entitled to play an MMO without having or needing to interact with anyone else in any aspect despite benefiting from that exact interaction (the market). They think that anyone that shoots them is morally wrong because they think the motivation is solely malicious as opposed to literally anything else. Eve to these people is profiting off of everyone else and give nothing in return, they feel that because they live in hisec that PvP should be “turned off” there because it creates risk. The Rorq pilots crying about BLOPs needing nerfed (again).

People don’t “hate” miners as a whole, they hate players who are parasites to the community. The people that feel they are “above” the community and that they are special to the point that they should not have to be engaged in PvP because they don’t want to PvP. These are the people calling for nerfs because they lost a ship, not because there is a legitimate balance issue but instead they feel an entire style of gameplay should be eliminated for their selfish gain.

There are “miners” who just chill and mine, then there are “miners” that is more like a slur than anything. We hate the second one. Do not be this person.

Anyone mad at this post is a miner. Pick which one you think suites best.

the CODE ideologists (safety and the other copycats) disagree. lol

What hate? I mine a lot and I’ve never been called names.

Basically this is about ego, identity, and status. The way I see it, if you need to hate any group of players, then you suffer from an inferiority complex. Yes, I am a miner, but John sure doesn’t run about on these forums or in game, shouting kill all the PvPers, death to all the gankers, and calm down ganker. It just won’t happen.

This is too much like grade school cliques, I am beyond that and most of you should be too. We are not in prison here either, we are suppose to be playing a game and enjoying each other’s company. We don’t need to build up social groups, using the same hate and fear messages, that has dominated and controlled people in entire nations throughout history.

I am not telling the gankers and miners to kiss and make up. I am saying, understand the difference between real life and a role you play within a game. John mines ore in the game Eve Online, this man rebuilds computers at home in his spare time. You can hate on John as much or little as you like, I don’t mind a bit.

I think people would simply find that proactive play is boring. I can’t imagine the sheer tedium of spending hours circling Uedama/Sivala waiting on the off chance to whore off Concord ECM some gankers. And people imagine that Jita is a dangerous hostile place 24/7…when in fact most of the time it is safe and 1590 of the 1600 people in the system are docked up and spamming or ranting about the Earth being flat. Even as a suspect hunter at Jita I can sometimes go hours with no kill, and when a big kill does show up there is often nobody else there to fire at it.

ahahaha!!! That’s about to change today:

MINER!!!

TLDR? “Everyone that isn’t me sucks and plays the game wrong”. You get the same attitude when nullbears and jspacers flame each other in threads and on reddit. People don’t bother to actually try out the gameplay they’re criticising most of the time. You get VERY vocal minorities on the forums and on the eve subreddit and they don’t represent the game as a whole, so just pretend they don’t exist while you play the game.

It’s like how the eve subreddit is rabidly homophobic, as can be seen via the recent pride posts, but the actual in game community is 90% really chill and doesn’t care.

Those who hate miners had grown out of those old times of digging in your backyard sandbox or sitting on a bench building sand castles.

Those who hate on miners had lost the ability to feel at peace and just want to kick over that sandcastle.

Sadly somehow they do find peace again while watching that sand castle being destroyed, it must some kind of evil that has taken control yet again who knows how they think.

I know how gankers think.

True, but the difference is that for most people it is all just a game. That includes all the posturing. But for a small minority it is somehow all deadly serious and a source of PTSD and mental anguish. The latter are the ones who keep referencing real life…for example ’ real life police are proactive’ and who cannot cope with EVE being a dystopian universe full of destruction, scams, and posturing people. They bring RL ‘morality’ into what is just a game…unable to grasp that it is just a game.

They are probably the same people who would have hurled the Monopoly board across the room as a 7 year old because them landing on Mayfair must have involved someone else cheating.

“WTF WHY DON’T THE COPS SHOOT THE BAD GUYS BEFORE THEY HARM THE INNOCENT”

Meanwhile in Blood Raider space: “hey man, you see that shipment of stiffs that came in the other night? Pretty sick haul.”

How dare a grim dark corporate dystopian setting not be filled with sunshine and rainbows! I trained Hello Kitty Island Adventures to 5 for NOTHING!

Gankers(and pvp people in general) simply cannot stand the fact that they are just a 25% minority despite the fact that they were SPOILED for over 20 years by the old devs…they see themselves as some kind of ‘serverelite’ and consider everyone that puts their noses to the reality as some kind of heretic…
