The initial idea may have been to create a pure PvP game but the finished product is far from that. There’s a big difference between concept and finalization.
Concept:
An abstract idea; a general notion. An idea or invention to help sell or publicize a commodity.
Finalization:
The completion or approval of a finished and definitive version of something.
But…but… There is no PVE in this game. Everything is PVP. Everything. At least according to your posts - and pretty much everyone elses - up till this one.
I’m guessing that like most posters in this thread, you don’t actually have a tenet. You just like being a contrarian.
Here is a tip : “Eve” and “Everything” both start by the same letters, but they are not the same thing. Especially since the explanation is given just afterwards :
“EVE Online is essentially a PvP (Player versus Player) game at its core.”
If you’re too dumb to read the complete post, shut up.
So now you are trying to argue but actually it’s a bad thing when somebody who doesn’t agree with you does it ?
I call your own behavior complete BS.
I called your BS already several time. Everytime you are wrong you are unable to accept it.
Remember when you were claiming it was IMPOSSIBLE to share faction standing and I called BS on you ? Not even a single apology for all the lies you were affirming.
You called me a cheater, a bug abuser. While I only kept the mail from CCP stating “it’s okay” for myself.
You insulted me, just because you could not stand to be corrected .
You were wrong, and never accepted it. Now you are just bitter and bitter every time you are proven false, instead of being thankful for still being able to learn things in that game.
Not arguing about anything, especially since all you do is lie and cloud the topic with toxic drivel.
As for the Fleet Faction standing gain issue from epic arcs, a lot of other “older” players agreed with me that for a long time it wasn’t available. And it wasn’t, in fact players had to petition to get the standing increase after the arc was completed. CCP never did share it with fleet members, only gave it to the player that had the arc. Eventually after a while CCP got tired of doing that and started allowing it to happen.
After your little outburst (which you constantly do), I sent in a Support Ticket about it and CCP did confirm that gaining Faction standing increase in fleet is not intentional and it’s a bug which they allow as long as it’s not abused / exploited.
So enough of your toxic BS, stop derailing this thread with off-topic posts.
For the epic gain I told you several times to check your facts. But instead your prefered to keep spreading ■■■■■■■■, and started aggressing me.
You literally called me a cheater and a bug user. Then CCP told you you were wrong. Please show how fool you are, call CCP cheaters and bug users.
That goes for you.
Enough of your personal aggressions whenever you are proven wrong.
and BTW just you affirming that «“eve is pvp” implies “everything in eve is pvp”» is enough to call your BS. You misquote me and use that misquote to say something wrong. That’s called a strawman.
Not disputing anything you said, but I have a complementary comment:
IMO the core design (not all of which works well) was a hybrid. This is implied by the permanent loss of resources in combat - players weren’t expected to fight each other for long without PvE activities to replace lost equipment . What fits best is that it was designed by someone who knew that PvP combat, handled well, is more fun than scenario-centric PvE. I’d question whether CCP has actually handled PvP combat well, but it’s too late to change that now
I’d expect that SOV was intended to provide a meaningful strategic objective for all players fully engaged with the game, so there there would be a continuous motivation to generate “stuff” to support strategically-motivated PvP combat, and as a positive side-effect of that to smash up a lot of the stuff that had been created.
This bit is too vague after so long though - I might be wrong.
So IMO you can see EVE as a simulation of the classic “Guns or Butter” resource allocation model.
Clearly I don’t think that supports the “bittervet narrative”, but the real issue is that the fantasy is consistently misused in destructive ways.
It’s worthless, though, because everyone can just sign up again and as long as he behaves better he’s not going to get banned again. The fact that there isn’t even a paywall anymore means that banning people is useless. Just look at LSG.
For real. I reported some via the ticket system and was chastised for reporting it that way and not through the “preferred method”
Oh, well excuse me. I wasn’t aware there was another method. Eve doesn’t exactly provide clear instructions. You’d think they’d be grateful that people are tracking down bot accounts for them.
