"Winning Eve" What does that mean to you?

You might as well bring up the idea others already mention from time to time that only Omegas should be allowed to post.

When at it might also join in on the people should only be allowed to post on their mains group as well.

Oh though when I think about it you would be limited to post on one single Frostpacker in the latter case. :smiling_imp:

What ever happened with you and frosty. We are happy to be here t cope with the changes that places us in front.

Whatever that means. :innocent:

But giving benefit of doubt I take it as a wish for happy holidays and give the same in return.

O era should have the right to post and we need to squash the fake omega accounts that cause confusion and
Poor judgement to commit

I’m a note active pilot had felt

Mm

If John. Wishes to. I’m tack me I say ha. Well b ready

// Olympic performance is now open?

You have a link to me saying I station trade? I didn’t think so.

Though I have sold a few things in the last month:

@Kaely_Tanniss Hello, Kaely

Not sure what winning would look like in a space sandbox mmo that doesn’t have clear winning criteria but I guess, for me, it would be having conquered every region at one time or another, not necessarily all of them at once.
I realize that is definitely not possible but that’s what it would be for me.
Barring that, I guess, it would be to own one Titan class ship from each race and leading a battle that was won with each one.
It is a little early in my EVE career to think about that but sometimes things are sprung upon you without your say-so, like this thread :slightly_smiling_face:
Take care and Merry Christmas to you.

Not the same but probably fits the accomplishment side:

@Uriel_the_Flame Thank you so much for the link, Uriel! Very interesting read, both accomplishments are noteworthy.
I will make it a point to go to the Achura Stargazers Society’s Monument to Katia Sae’s achievement, in Saisio.

Hello @Kaely_Tanniss ,

I am not sure if I can answer specifically to “winning” EvE, but I can tell you my story.

In 1998 i first read of EvE as a concept for an upcoming game in a PC Gamer Magazine whilst I was deep into the Honor Harrington novel series. Past that I forgot about it over the next year or two. Joined the Military in 2004, and soon enough started my 1st combat tour in Iraq.

Fast forward to late 2009, fresh home from my 2nd deployment, no family to greet me home unlike my first home coming. At the time my estranged wife was even more mental since the death of my one and only child back near the end of my 1st tour of duty. For the first time in my life I was going to be completely alone for the Holiday’s. I happened upon a boxed purchase of EvE in the Local PX of the base, and instantly remembered the article i read years ago. I picked it up and bought it, installed a few days later…and barely got past the character creation before having put the game and most other things on hold due to a whirlwind of RL stuff over the next few months. To which i will spare the details, as i dont want to talk about it.

I picked the game back up around Christmas 2010, and damn near quit within 7 days of frustratingly being told to “get fuqed”, “get good”, or most of the time…just crickets having lost several ships to NPC’s just trying to figure out how to do missions and fit the stupid ships. I was lucky to have met my 1st mentor and CEO for the game around this time. I remember the first and most important question he asked of me, “What do you want to do and be in this game?”.

My immediate answer as the inspiration for me wanting to play EvE flooded from my memories of the Harrington series when reading that article in 1998: “I want to be an Arms Dealer.”

Since then I have completed every Epic Arc at least once, been a career ganker for nearly a 3 yr stint, been a Security Director and spy handler for an Alliance, lived in Nullsec, Lived in Jspace, Lived in Losec whilst participating in FW, participated in several HS wars over the years, trained mentored 42 players from their day 1 moment in EvE into successful players that lasted for a few years each until they got bored or RL caught up to them.

My crowning achievement(s) however, completed with and without assistance, as I must admit would never have been done so quickly on my own is: 4.2 Trillion ISK worth of fully researched BPO’s, hundreds of other not fully researched BPO’s; the ability to build anything in this game if I so choose on demand; A few yrs back having been told my corp was in the top 3 suppliers for the entire Caldari FW main Alliance/Coaltion at that time; been the primary supplier for a HS group of T1/T2/Faction gear and ships while it lasted.

I am an Arms Dealer, marked that on the bingo card long long ago. I am space rich, in assets, liquid ISK, game knowledge, friends and adversaries both past gone and present still.

I have been called many things, Palpatine, Darth vader, a**hole, space squirrel, a dictator, a teacher, a filthy ganker, a greedy capitalist to name a few labels.

My go to answer these days for why i still play the game… “It is the players, cause ive reached my destinations already, I have achieved my personal goals and EvE has ruined my will to play other MMO’s, I do not need to play EvE, i just do and until you guys give me a reason to have another personal goal then i shall sit here and just bide my time…because i can.”

Have I won EvE? If so, am I still winning EvE?

First of all nice story, thanx for sharing. Secondly, I have a guy that always calls me a “hedge fund manager”, amoung other things. Isnt it the people and the stories that keep it all going and that, even up to 20 years later, we remember.

Didn’t it used to be that you had to have an active sub to post?

No idea I only play EVE since 2017.

Ah. So you were never on the old forums (they were so much better). I kinda figured you were around a bit longer than that. We learn something new every day

Have a great holiday, Uriel.

Never as a poster, though during reading about things related to EVE I often stumble upon and read the old forums too.

You too!

Power is all that matters. In the end, not even ISK will solve your problems.

My answer is rather simple.

Each challenge met, a lesson learned,
Each scar I bear, a victory earned.
The doubts I faced, the fears I fought,
Now distant echoes, dearly bought.

And now I stand, upon the crest,
The journey’s end, a welcome rest.
The vista grand, before me spread,
A tapestry, of threads I’ve tread.

A sense of peace, a quiet pride,
For all the miles, I’ve walked beside.
The journey’s done, the goal attained,
A stronger soul, forever gained.

The final step, a soft release,
Accomplishment, and inner peace.
The journey’s end, a new beginning’s start,
A brand new chapter, in my heart.

When the last page is written and the story ends, I win.

Have fun!

My story is simple. It’s nothing grand. About 12 or 13 years ago, I started playing this game. It’s a space game, PvP, free and open world, etc… Sounded fun. I joined as a Minmitar person and headed out to make my mark. I tried mining and security mission running. I didn’t understand how to fit a ship and had no mentors to help.

I avoided PvP and tried to keep my head down. I did all of the core skills and skilled up to a Hurricane. I still had no idea how to fit a ship and I was really having a tough time. The missions got harder and my ship did not get any stronger.

I joined a Null Sec corporation and wasn’t told what I was doing wrong. I got blown up a couple of times in 0.0, left the corp, and went back to high sec. Got blown up one more time in a security mission and quit the game.

Over a decade later, I decided to give it another try, but this time I’d do it right! I’m still not the best at ship fits, but I’m learning! I read everything I can. I look at fits. I ask questions. When someone does a fit better than I do, I thank them.

I also, no longer keep my head down. I speak up, show myself, and invite danger. I do things that most people don’t do and I make no apologies. I’ve met some really great people and I’ve made some great friends. I’m in a very small corp and we’re having a lot of fun. This has been a much better experience for me. I can finally understand why this game has lasted this long.

Hold on, so you are a 12-13 year ‘vet’, mining in an 0.8?

Bro, I thought you were a new player.
