Why? Sell them early, or after the event, and buy them back late (if you need them) - profit. The Extended and Potent Acc are one of the revenue drivers in the events. I sell them when prices are high, and only consume the basics.
i got some old ones and tried to use them before the current event. all i got was a dialogue box saying that there were no storms.
I disagree.
The story. Iām familiar with these events since that big Rogue drones event on June 5 2018, if Iām not wrong (when they included SKINS into drops). Previously the most profitable event sites were in null- and j-space. I remember some null events had capital ships, like Carrier NPCs, and players used capitals and supers against them. Then, in 2019 or 2020 game devs decided to make low-sec sites the most profitable and difficult.
You mentioned the big Blood raiders faction module drops, āstealth nerfsā and that ORE thing, which are true and those cases were outrageous. I consider those cases as exceptions - bugs and exploits. BTW, you forgot about another bugged event. That event happened after the Komodo was added to the game with those Nirvana implants. The event had Sansha NPCs, if Iām not wrong, which dropped Nightmare BPOs. Next DT all those BPO were transformed into BPC, right?
There were few events with minuscule nerfs or no nerfs at all. Among them were those short āspiritā events during Valentineās Day. Some had very strong NPCs, others too weak NPCs with no loot rewards and just points rewards in boosters and āspiritā SKINS, so nothing was needed to nerf. Such an event happened a few years ago, when the best reward was a Machariel black SKIN for 800 points.
Usually almost all new SKINS and boosters have no price value in your cargo during the first few days. It is how the market database is working. Then their prices begin to appear one by one as very high initially, until the market demands will stabilize them.
About general nerfs. As I typed ābig nerfs in loot drops and event mechanicsā I mean nerf happens not only on loot drops, but also the event mechanics. Itās based on how difficult or how much time you need to complete a site. Aka, you can make 50M ISK in 5 mins or 50M ISK in 20 mins in low sec. A low-sec site which keeps you tackled like a āsitting duckā for 20 mins is a big nerf. For example, I remember a few events which had only one wave of rats in the room and the next day there were 2 or 3 waves to unlock the gate. There were events which had like 5 NPCs per wave and the next day or after the 3rd day we had 10 NPCs per wave. I remember some events were NPC elite Cruisers orbit your ship at 16 km, which was easy to hit with large guns and sentry drones, and after few days they began to arbit at 12 km range, which required a faction Webifier into fit to hit them (aka a nerf via mechanics ā ISK/hour concept) and etc.
The last Crimson harvest event. I had the opportunity to do many of those sites, mainly a few combat sites in hi-sec and many exploration sites in low-sec. I finished under 100 exploration sites. During the first two days the cans contained some 16th- 18th- and 23th Tier Overseerās Personal Effects (TOPE). From 10 sites I got three 18th-, two 16th- and one 23th TOPE, few improved and extended skill accelerators. After that I did over 50 sites, until the end of the event, without any 16, 18 and 23th TOPEs in drop and reduced drop chance of improved and extended accelerators. Other loot like boosters, SKINS I even donāt take into consideration. Iām not arguing, In my opinion that event was great, Iām just saying āit is what it isā.
Itās true and false. Itās false because high quality level III and IV boosters and extended and potent accelerators will keep their prices high. Itās true because the low level boosters level I and II and standard accelerators will become cheaper and cheaper. Also their demand will drop significantly.
High quality implants and rare SKINS prices will drop during the event, but after it their prices will go up slowly.
CCP have moved to a model of Drug dependency and zero benefit for long term play. 20yr old == 1 day old. Just give us your money Bro!!
Having each site drop 250M was insane, so they tuned it down and wrote in the patch notes. Afterwards each still dropped 150M on average, nothing to complain about. The hack site this winter event are mediocre and clearly meant to be run by new players. CCP keeps changing the setup but I see up and downs, nothing like āonly nerfsā.
The options to casually making a lot of ISK in game with a low entry barrier were never better than in this era of EvE.
Not necessarily. If the drop rate is high enough then the market will be saturated.
If you believe itās better to keep them to resell later, then you should instead buy them. Which I did sometimes, typically for accelerators considering there was not enough on the market so I made a profit buy buying them 2d before the end and selling them 1w after.
But this is a different activity (speculation) than playing the events. And if you need to have an alt babysit your orders, then your valuation of the event is wrong.
You canāt just pretend that getting 10M directly from the site is the same thing as having something that may sell to 10M in a possible future assuming you are present enough to undercut other orders.
Also I wrote after that : ānon-expiring consumable should be valuate to non zeroā. I meant event-specific boosters should be considered 0.
This was in opposition to people who claim the event is good when they sold a site worth for an interesting value, and later claim that CCP nerfed the event.
I couldnāt disagree more. I ran the combat sites last night and had a good time. I DCād and almost lost my Marauderā¦but other than that, it was fun.
The Market⢠will do what it does, not to worry.
None of these events can compete with Shadow War events based on how profitable loot was and how long the event was with all those phases. I tried different sites in hi-sec, then I realized that I canāt compete with those multiboxers and PVP corporations, which farmed those mid-size combat sites, and I moved to low-sec FW. I did a few dozens of combat exploration sites in a Heron there. Afterwards I figured out that itās better to craft those Transport Relay Datacore nodes and turn in those Conduit structures afterwards. Also to buy them on the market for the same purpose. All that stuff was available on the Jita market only. Therefore, my event activity turned into buying crates from buy and sell orders and hauling them via Rancer to Minmatar and Ammar Conduits. Unluckily the Sansha Incursion also happened in that constellation at the time. There were some players which farmed those hi-sec combat sites like crazy, from morning to evening in their time zone. IDK how they have that ability IRL. Probably they made on that event from 50B to 100B ISK and some of them maybe 200B ISK
That way I managed to make 5B ISK as profit from reward crates while investing into Datacore market 15B ISK for Minmatar and Ammar only! Actually that was a āsoftcoreā approach in game, which boosted the Velocity of ISK very well also. Here are some reward results as historic records:
-
The Transport Relay Datacore Jita market
-
Turning Minmatar tokens into ISK
-
Every 1.5B ISK of crates I turned into 1.7 - 2B ISK of random loot. BTW, some stuff (like boosters and SKINS) I didnāt manage to sell.
Iām sure the OP is aware of his freedom of choice, there is no need to make that pointless comment every time someone criticises something. TIA.
So the actual content such as combat anomalies and exploration signatures is just as unfun as any of the previous event ones. What made it fun for a day was an ISK value after running them in cargo.
Yeah, (end) of shadow war was the best event ever from diversity and profitability / effort ratio. I bought all the materials and ore between the first an second caster round (with the long pause), when people dumped it to Jita. Finally I only had to do my circles in Pochven, collect the BPCs, build, ship everything to the exchange point. Most annoying point was opening all those reward crates.
And because the market spiked all the base and reaction mats for the muta thingies, I made plus bank on supplying everybody else building with my surplus mats at inflated prices. The one time, CCP nailed the value distribution among the professions.
BTW, the new FW is also a loot pinata, and you donāt even need to grind or participate.
Because of that event I improved my Mass Production skills up to 10 Manufacturing jobs also
Ok carebear.
Other than their zkillboard, Iām not sure they even broken even on that one. It was a mostly T2 fit with cheap Abyssal modules. And Loot Fairy said ānoā.
donāt feed the troll.
This year was overall crap. Practically no fun events, (Introduction of Events actually brought players back and was a good idea), last yearās Winter Nexus was at least fun because there were ice crystals in space and hacking was risky, yet kind of fun, but CCP but hey, we got new BCs !!!
Even the battery didnāt drop in loot lol.
