Put it this way, you just logged into eve for first time and make way to Jita to use the market and see the BOT FLOOD in local, would you keep playing or just uninstall right there?
You mean the same thing that happens in every other MMO’s main trade hub?
I don’t think there is a way to fix this other than disabling Jita local.
Thats not fair. I started eve 3 months ago and I knew all about the massive botting, its a plague in all mmorpgs. What has me playing is that Eve, unlike all other mmorpgs, does not yet have a mobile style cash shop and once you get a more than basic idea of gameplay, then you can pretty much dostuff and even plex as omega with ease. For me doing exploration and investing all my sp and bonuses into scanning skills had me earning an easy 70-100m/hour inmy first month. Afternoobing around withlvl1 misdions for for a week a friend gotme into joining a null alliance and the first thing I said once I gpt to their headquarters was “WTF DO I DO NOW” then just bought a heron fit and made my first millions soon to turn into 10 bil isk in 2 months of casual exploration. Never once being spammed ingame by the “buy this” cash shop plague had me re-subbing even as the3 week ddos landed.
Yeah, I have concerns about Eve’s ability to retain new players, but I never thought Jita local would be a problem.
Personally, I don’t want the option to disable Jita local, because some players do sometimes post worthwhile stuff (Eve questions and answers, jokes, funny trash talk, helpful links, links to memes, Eve news, etc). The problem is that that stuff all gets drowned out with the spam.
Thus, I’d rather see some sort of spam filter. Either a system that prevents posting more than once every x number of seconds, and/or a system that restricts players abilities to post in Jita local if they get blocked by more than y number of players.
Got scammed by a bot eh?
Jita local is 100% optional. You can (and probably should) monitor another channel or minimize chat while there - unless, of course, you enjoy all the spam and scams!
Jita local can be ignored. Maybe 1 out of every 1000 posts is legit.
Also I shoul add that I came a long way, being a15 yrs old broodwar veteran. Trolling, insulting and mocking noobs and better thanyou ppl or being subjected to same is part of the game so I was less than impressed by ppl being mean to me in eve. I’ve been fooled by some dudes pretending to help me with a mission just to blow me up and whilst they prolly had fun I was like… mkay, I have been 10x more evil than you in my broodwar games. If youre a new player coming to eve and pretending that ppl have to be nice, then you havent really played online games alot, its part of the fun. The idea is that eve, with the helpofthe bignullsec alliances can be fun and casual aswell.I’ve only been once to jita and that was bc I needed an alt tocontract stuff to a corp mate for me. Dont stay there, if ure into trade ur never going to compete with eztablished trading conglomerates. Do something else.
Yeah right.
I don’t see how this is an issue with of a “new player experience”. How many new players will log in after being AFK for years and head straight to Jita?
And for that matter, how many years were they AFK for that they would be shocked by Jita local?
All offers are 123% legit.
Put it this way, you went to Jita? Wtf for?
You pretty much brought that crap on yourself tbf. Also, are you really suggesting that Jita local would be more off-putting than Rookie Help? If so, you have bizarre standards.
You can’t just ignore it?
Close the chat or something…
You don’t need Jita to play the game. I played for years before I ever went to Jita.
Whoever points you to Jita as a rookie does you a disservice . You can do plenty of business elsewhere if you take a look at evemarketer.com or other websites. That being said, I do enjoy a bit of Jita wildlife now and then. Some scammers are geniuses and highly entertaining. That is if you feel compelled to look at Local in Jita, to sample the atmosphere and study that rich (pun intended) biotope.
Imo just blank jita local with the message “everything posted his is, and always will be, a scam” for every new account until you click accept, like a jita local EULA.
Then they know to ignore it all.
Not everything, so maybe add “most likely”?
Why lie?
I mean my isk doubling service is legit though, my alt agrees.
