Worse Halloween event in a game - thank you EVE business dep

Yah @Every_One is from 2008 and didn’t know that when CCP removed the ability for drones to auto attack everyone started riot.

CCP also removed lv 4 missions because of botting and that really hurt my alpha experience chilling running cargo missions.

Now CCP staggers when you launch drones. Like when you shoot them out of a tube.

Now events like these pretty much just exclude drone boats and tbh I am fine with that. :joy:

I did see a guy use the gila in the event tho.

Gilas will always see use everywhere because they’re very very good.

Rattlesnake: easy peasy. Didn’t need to rescoop drones once. Droneboat. Totally viable, totally comfortable.

and did pay quite well.

Tetrimon Base: nothing different. No Drone Scoop, perfectly comfortable.

Good for you clearly we are playing different games have fun.

Although seeing fits that players can run to survive in most circumstances in these is cool, I do think it belies the actual issue that newer players would have; Even a 600/700+ dps smaller ship isn’t going to compete with the damage output of a battleship or marauder.

You can make the argument that they could just group up, and that’s valid, but you’re still looking at an event that just isn’t designed for that. Unless something has changed, you’re now in a situation where you need to run x times as many sites for how many players are in the group so you can cycle the battleship kill. Maybe they’ve changed that, I dunno, I’ve not run it in a group yet this year.

There’s also the advice to run a Praxis, and that definitely works if you have the skills for the weapon systems already. But I just went and checked with a weapon group I’ve never trained, but I have all the other prerequisites for - Before implants and training boosters, it’s 35 days to train up to being able to use T2 turrets/launchers, even if you have all of the other skills ready to go. That’s not for the preceding weapon skills, just for the actual skill itself.

So, honestly, I think the best advice to give people having issues with this is to remember that this event happens every year and try to prepare for it next time, stick to the exploration this time round.

Earlier on, I thought, “Hey, I’ll brush off one of my ships I’ve not used for a while, make an actual functional fit and show you can do it with a variety of ships”, seeing as we’ve seen a few Amarr ships and I felt like dirty traitor for not representing the rust. My issue wasn’t surviving or dealing with the adds, it was that I literally was unable to get past the second room before a Kronos warped in. Even in fairly out of the way systems that are normally deserted.

That’s why I made my original post on this thread that I’d like to see some sort of combat related content for this event aimed at smaller ships. The arguments against something like that don’t really convince me personally, but I can see where they’re coming from. But either way, I think a lot of the advice on this thread has conflated “Is it possible?” with “Is it viable?”. It’s entirely possible to complete these sites with sub-BS ships, but it’s not really viable unless you’re bringing buddies along. Which has it’s own issues with how the event is set out.

Thank you.

Just blew apart OP’s central argument lol.

I admire your persistence.

Probably a paid community event spokesperson.

I can assure you none of us are paid lol.

Sure, would be a scandal if that leaked.

I just don’t care what ship I make the money with, the event pays well and it’s even interesting to test different setups.

Passive Gila: This time the Overseer warped in early and there was still a wave full of neutships on grid. Still not a problem at all, they couldn’t kill a drone, they couldn’t break the passive regeneration. Walk in the park, nothing to worry about. Similar completion time to a HAC.

First pics of an empty cap?
You must’ve been really lucky in all those other sites.

Yes, I am paid with billions in ISK from all these sites. And it’s more fun than abyssals or L4s doing them in different setups that require different tactics.

Persistent luck is called “skill”. In any other ship than a passive Gila one will fit at least one Large Cap Battery + some cap regen mods, which completely negates all the neutralizing in these sites. And in a passive Gila you simply can’t care less if you have cap or not.

I completely negated all of the neuting in the site by one very simple trick don’t worry.

The problem i have with drone targetting is more one thing : It’s illogical…
I mean,in real life, what would YOU attack first? The BIG SCARY battleship that hits your shields with a 1000 pound sledgehammer and melts away your armor like a hot knife through butter or the tiny little drone that squeeks at you, surrounds you and hits you with nothing more than tiny needles?

Yes,drones do SOME damage over time but the rage ccp sets npc on against them is still illogical.

Prime target for ALL npc has to be the battleship and drones are to be ignored until the main threat is neutralized…

THAT would be ‘logical’…

You don’t do much PvP do you? NPCs learned ‘defanging’ from capsuleers. Because if you can’t kill a target, you at least kill it’s drones quickly to reduce incoming DPS. It is especially useful against droneboats which lose large parts of their DPS when you destroy their drones, or even from forcing them to call them back. Why should the NPC hammer mindlessly on the “BIG SCARY battleship” that they can’t break anyway? The new AI is miles better than the old rats and it is actually a nice improvement of the game. It forces the players to pay attention. If it annoys you, either use a ship without drones or leave the drones in the bay.

In real life Eve Online is a science fiction MMO game set in a fantasy universe.

In real life, energy shields don’t exist. Yet.

And in real life, I wouldn’t attack a battleship, because 1) most in the US navy have been decommissioned and replaced with cruisers that use guided missile launchers.
2) it would be an act of war.

Drones, in EvE, are like A.I. driven fighter craft. And they use “hand-wavium” to apply damage to their targets.

Proper drone management can help keep your drones from being picked off. It requires the player to pay attention, and not be alt-tabbed out watching netflix.

So far, this Halloween event has been fine. A bit on the boring grindy side. But not that hard. I’ve been using a legion, and it’s quite doable.

I have been targetting drones for a long time now. Some ships have very dangerous drone capabilities - why would I spare drones of VNI or Myrmidon or Domi? They are their source of dps and it is the one that can be easily defanged. Why not defang then?

how can be miners complaining about how hard is to kill some NPCs?

Thankfully miners are funding my Plex retirement vault, so I wish they will keep finding challenging the most stupid activity in EVE (besides mining). I want them dumb to keep the flow of income.
