Would you want an EVE Online Event for a shorter high-sec Amarr-Jita route?

There is no need for such events. The Amarr-Jita route changes every 3-4 years automatically. From shorter to longer and back again. It is like the weather. Happened so many times now already…

That’s not how it works, ever. The people come, THEN the trade follows.

That’s why Syzygium proposed making non-caldari space less expensive to make the people come there. He too knows that trade follows the people, but the trick is to first make people go elsewhere than Jita.

Shorter routes to Jita and more convenient shopping at Jita is going to make more people shop and play near Jita instead of elsewhere in the game.

To make them spread out there needs to be an incentive for people to spread out, like cheaper industry costs elsewhere, or higher taxes near Jita.

While I whole heartedly agree, especially with my skill lvl, but I don’t see CCP moving that way?

I don’t see them move that way either, but I do think it’s the good direction.

While I dislike pointing to other games, Albion does this better where it has multiple city zones where each got it’s own small economic benefits so that industry is spread out and transportation between those zones is encouraged.

I don’t see why CCP cannot add similar bonuses so that for example certain Minmatar regions are slightly more efficient at building Minmatar ships. In fact, CCP already did something similar with industry bonuses in Zarzakh, did they not?

Either you are having a sandbox and evolution through player decisions and actions or you restrict and control the environment and thereby reduce the sandbox. In recent years the sandbox of EVE suffered at lot of loss due to those predefined environmental changes of which you propose to introduce even more.
Sounds good on paper, but restricts playstyles, capabilities and emergence of creative ideas.

You seem to have a strange understanding about the term “sandbox”. It doesn’t mean that CCP can’t set rules, motivators, consequences for decisions or different areas with different mechanics or change these anytime they want if they think its better for the game.

“Sandbox” just means that there is no fixed goal for playing (set by the developer) and the players are free to make decisions about how they want to play the game if they accept the consequences of these decisions and that the game host (CCP) doesn’t intervene with ‘divine power’ to undo or punish player decisions as long as they stick to the rules (aka no exploitation).

Giving different areas different/unique resources, boni and mechanics to promote/reward certain activities and motivate players to settle in (currently) underdeveloped areas for higher profits is absolutel not against the “sandbox concept”.

I would have no clue as I only manufacture for myself and not in that sys.

I never said I knew everything about the game!

Care to elaborate then how it was possible to establish the current tradehubs? Some folks have to have it started and enough others followed. No intervention from CCP needed.

Why can’t it be like like this with the resources and bonus you propose? Why can’t CCP establish a mechanic to give the resource and bonus establishment into the hands of the players as they do in 0.0? Why does it have to be done by CCP?

As for CCP divine power intervention, CCP does it very well on occasion as has been seen in the first year of EVE, when CCP intervened with “divine power” against m0o corp who got powerful enough to establish the first gate camps. CCP did not expect that, overreacted and on next login all members were randomly scattered across the universe. They learned from it and from the uproar they caused.
But i also count the more recent resource scarcity as divine intervention, as well as a lot of others that change or make impossible until then established playstyles.

I think your right and wrong
I dont think there should be a shorter route just to ammar
I think it should be the center of eve altogether an a new market set up in caldari space with equal jumps from all four zones or each zone has one super jump gate to jita that all four races claim jita as home turf
With +1 security jump frieghters can jump the out side of the super gates from low null or even worm hole space sort of the nutral zone of eve
Its not like ganker pirates ect wont find a way to kill you they always do lol

You know, it’s a tossup to me between the old and new pipe. I miss the old pipe because of the shortness and had made the effort to make zig zag waypoints through it. I like the new pipe because I got chased a lot by players thinking they might catch me.

As an old, experienced player, it’s a minor thrill. as a new “serious” player, I can see it being a nightmare no matter how much plex you spend…

Why? And kill every other market sector?
