I do not think it was random. Everyone I know has got one on who they consider their ‘main’ character, and if it was random it seems unlikely to have wound up that way.
Also, I am not sure if there was a limitation on who got a video, but even if so, it can’t have been all that high a bar to pass. I got one, and I don’t do a whole lot aside from basic chores. One of my friends has been working a lot and hasn’t had time to log in most of the time because of it, but still got one, too.
All of us who got one really enjoyed the video and felt a little more motivated after viewing it. I imagine it’ll be a short lived morale boost, but none the less I saved the video for posterity and shared it with some of my non-eve friends to say ‘lookie! CCP did something neat this year!’
I would almost forgive them for melting my snowballs.
Is there a way to see video from other accounts associated with your email? I would like to see it for this toon for example, but only got the email for one of my other accounts.
The stats listed in the video covers all characters on all accounts associated with your Email address. I haven’t heard of anyone receiving more than 1 video. I think the video was probably sent to the character with the most time logged into the game.
According to CCP, that video was sent out to 214,713 different email addresses of EVE players who had active Omega accounts for at least 30 days with 25 hours minimum of active game play from January 1, 2019 to December 1, 2019.
DMC’s answered it, but the short version is “No, you can’t the video for accounts/alts/emails that didn’t make the cutoff points, and if you did get the video, it covers all characters/accounts/alts connected to that email”.
