I don’t understand all this angst about suicide ganking. It’s part of the game, and for me it keeps me interested and on my toes. What, do you want to spend all your time afk mining? I’d quit from boredom in a week.
I’m no 10-year EVE veteran, but I’ve only been suicide ganked once…and it was my own stupid fault. Was reading an EVE wiki article. Had I been hitting dscan, I would probably have gotten away. Guess what I did? Bought another ship and made back my lost isk in a couple of hours of mining. Eventually I was able to skill up to a more tank ship, which the gankers won’t touch.
If ganking bothers anyone, stay in a highly populated hi-sec system and exercise safety in numbers. If you solo mine in low/nullsec, you’re just asking for trouble. Even then, with reasonable precautions you should be able to run away. Risk vs. reward when it comes to mining.
Darlo, don’t respond to that fool.
His killboard tells everything there is to know about this tough-as-nails PvP superhero.
Ganking solo escalation newbros in lowsec is apparently the highest form of combat he is capable of, which he engages in over and over and over and over.
You know, not like “farmer trash” doing PvE content in perpetual loop. No, that’s different.
Blah blah blah blah, back to subject:
Skilling spree is cool - I’m all in favor of empowering players with a bit of free SP to boost skill research a little bit.
Now, if only we got some cool SKINs that anyone could get after a bit of mixed activities, that would be super-cool too.
Nah, some MMO, WoW particulary, make at the playerbase disposal some content that is designed to be super challenging in every update. According to the different ranking websites, around 8% of their playerbase attempt this content, and around 0,3% finish it entirely.
Three years ago they also introduced the “Mythic +” concept that is basically a game mode with infinite difficulty scaling.
The tricks seems to be to not tie this content to the main story progression, so you don’t block the progression of your casual playerbase.
How does that work? Is it actually an intellectual challenge because the NPCs are smarter and capable of adapting to your efforts to beat them, or did they just do a D3-style escalation where the damage and HP numbers get bigger but it’s still the same farming? Because “gear check” content is not genuine difficulty, it’s just a barrier to entry that you have to overcome before you start farming.
As an -avoidable- option(beeing impossible in some parts of the game f.e. as in so many other games on the market) pvp would be acceptable…this way it is not…
No, that’s not at all how the sandbox works. Again, “sandbox” does not mean “I get to choose what I want to do and I’m guaranteed to be able to do it without interference”. It refers to the goals of the game being open-ended and based on player choices, not a linear plot structure set by the game author.
The sandbox approach to the situation is the one EVE has: some people want to engage in PvP, some people don’t, and both exist in the same space in opposition to each other. Sometimes the PvP aggressors win and successfully engage a target, sometimes the target they want to attack evades the threat and stays out of PvP. And there are tools for both, existing in balance (although ATM highsec is far too unbalanced in favor of it being easy to avoid PvP).
Your approach is the exact opposite of the sandbox. Instead of putting everyone in the same shared world and letting them resolve the “PvP or no PvP” question as a player conflict you want to wall off a corner of the sandbox, exclude the people who want to use that space for anything that doesn’t align with the way you want to use it, and impose game mechanics that take away player choices by guaranteeing your safety. Instead of one giant EVE sandbox you want your own private PvE farming instance where you can play by yourself and watch the numbers in your wallet go up.
And I notice you once again ignored the fact that the primary victims of your PvP ban would be miners, manufacturers, traders, etc, not (combat) PvP players.
This is even more stupid than i would expect even from you…
This deny of reality is typical trump style…i have an opinion and nobody, not even facts will bring me away from this…
SURELY ‘sandbox’ means ‘do anything you like undisturbed’ because EVEN a sandbox has rules like against harrasment(and even being attacked ONCE by a PVP guy IS harrasment in MANY games where a non pvp zone exists and leads to bans…)
This is good, eve has to do this too and if you don’t like this …well…there is the exit…
Every additionnal level give them bonus stats (in term of life points and damages), but also every three level, the NPC are given additionnals techniques and special effects. Well they are not “adapting to you”, but there is more and more strategic elements to take into accounts as you progress.
The possible effects that can be triggered rotate every week, so you can’t really just learn the patern by heart, and if you manage to do so then, it’s obsolete when next week begin.
Are you talking for yourself now?
Because you never provided any fact, and everytime WE gave you real facts that you can watch with your own eyes, you pretend it is “not valid” for some magical reason.
I even saw you on an other thread denying the fact that the servers have problems despite CCP themself making a series of tweets announcing the issue and that they were working on it.
→ “i have an opinion and nobody, not even facts will bring me away from this…” is exactly what YOU are permanently doing in every possible situation or conversation.
Thank you for giving it the name “Trump style”, I can now call you “Trump” everytime you deny the reality, which mean I can call you “Trump” everytime you post.
And how does your logic work if what I want to do is disturbing other players?
If it is “anything we like” then it MUST also be included.
I asked you for example of games that actually enforce this imaginary rule.
So far you did not give me any example
And you know why?
Because this is a rule that only exist in your imagination so you will never find those examples.
So far the only FACT we have about this is that this rule DO NOT exist in World Of Warcraft, and World Of Warcraft is the leader of the market.
Currently EVE do not do it.
And, realistically, there is a very high chance that no matter what you and I write in this forum, they will NEVER do it. Never, ever.
So since you already found the exit, you can probably take it yourself.
I’ve been playing WoW since 2009, I have more than 11700 hours gametime when combining all my characters, I have ganked TONS of people, and a LOT of them pretend that they reported me.
I never had any trouble from Blizzard.
You know why?
Because this rule never existed in the first place. A handful of people, that you seem to be part of, believe it does.
The fact that I can still play confirm that this is a fake news. Always been, always will.
I have unsubbed since last September so I did not do anything relevant to the current content, but you can easily check that if you believe that I’ve “never played WoW”, you are faaaar away from the reality.
As I said I’m not subbed to WoW currently (… because I’m playing EvE instead) but feel free to add me on battle.net if you need any confirmation.
No it doesn’t. The fact that EVE is a sandbox doesn’t mean I get to declare that I want to take all of your SP from your character and therefore CCP must implement this feature at once for me. It simply means that CCP does not declare what “winning EVE” means, goals that are against the design concept of EVE may not be possible to achieve.
harrasment(and even being attacked ONCE by a PVP guy IS harrasment in MANY games where a non pvp zone exists and leads to bans…)
Thank god EVE is not one of those games. How other games implement stupid rules is not relevant here.
This is good, eve has to do this too and if you don’t like this …well…there is the exit…
You know, it’s funny that you say that given the fact that CCP is currently ignoring your demands and implicitly telling you that your no-PvP space is not going to happen. So shouldn’t you, by your own argument, accept that you don’t like it and head for the exit?
And, again, why are you ignoring the fact that the primary victims of your proposed no-PvP rules would be industrial players, not combat PvP players?
You are an idiot. Do you whine and cry about “harassment” if you join an FPS server and someone shoots you without your permission? You approved of PvP by creating an account and logging in to a game with PvP. Don’t like it, here’s the exit.
