Why did you have to ruin EVE Online, it was working perfectly before you messed up with the code…
1st If something works, dont try to fix it, you are not going to make it better…
2nd Leave it as it was before… and do not upload to the live server unless it has been proved accordingly at a test server, that is whay it is called test server…
3rd EVE worked fine 10 years ago, can we not go back to then? why not? do we really need this Alpha people and pansy skins, by the way, in ENGLISH those should be called PAINTWORK, no bloody anyone can understand when I talk about EVE thingies to “normal” people that do not know EVE + this may put off some potential new players

there is actually a reason to tell us what the problem is paticularly US customers since in the 27th-28th Jan US Dept of Justice indicted 5 us voip “Gateway Carriers” to the us telecomm domestic network…and if all the us players are now behind a broken voip link wall because of their criminal actions in enabling floods of fraudulent scam calls access to us networks.
well then i would say that US players have a very good class action lawsuit basis on them…but that needs CCP to tell us what is bloody wrong!

Till yesterday I had some problems, but pressing the connect button it started. Today doesn’t work anymore.

Clicking ok and then connect in the window pictured in the OP will sometimes connect to the server, but once it is connected, the game is barely functional. Chat doesn’t work at all and everything else suffers from terrible lag. It is not functioning well enough for me to actually play the game.
Captain Oblivious I presume? Think about this. If Chat worked 3 days ago and does not now work what is the likelihood that the chat port, 5222 btw, isn’t already open? If you want to condescend make sure you start with a clue.

VOIP? I do not believe CCP’s chat system can be correctly characterized as VOIP as that means it is Voice Over IP, hence VOIP. Or have I missed something? Aside from that minor technical detail, how is an indictment of 2 companies for running scam robocalling operations connected with the connectivity issues faced by US players? I don’t see the connection.
FWIW, essentially all telephone traffic is carried on the internet in the US at this time. While robocalls are definitely a nuisance and probably illegal; the internet traffic they cause is trivial in comparison to normal telephone traffic and even less than trivial when compared to all data on the internet.
BTW - telephone traffic is VOIP.

That port wasn’t open on my system so I opened it as CCP advised, I also made sure CCP, Eve Online and Launcher was whitelisted as well.
I now have no problems logging into the game and all chat channels work.
eve’s ingame Voip system is linked to all chat channels…which means there must be a gateway carrier for such traffic
Please chill. There is quite a lot wrong with how CCP is handling this current episode, particularly in regard to keeping customers informed and responding to their problems. Going back to the past is not going to help. I don’t particularly disagree with calling out ship skins; but, some like them. Alpha players are a tried and true mechanic for getting new players. Alpha players aren’t an issue in the current troubles. Not getting new players to replace player attrition would be. Conflating one complaint with another does nothing to resolve one or the other.
Hmm, EVE has in-game voice comms? I understand it did at one time. However, EVE hasn’t AFAIK had voice comms for a very long time. The Chat channels which are missing are 100% not connected to voice communication. The Chat channels are text only.
I do use VOIP to talk with my Corp mates; however, it is not programmatically connected to anything in the game.
it is still there in the options with its tickbox to enable in the client.
i wish to suggest that indeed the whole standalone chat system Is Voip based…was not removed if no audio now they just disabled it…still a voip system and permissions
