I wonder how long CCP will keep up with blocking a portion of their player base. Wheter it is %30 or %10.
Why? CCP is quiet clean when it comes to player numbers. When I log in my alts total number of online players is not changing
if you see only a few thousand online that means I haven’t logged in my alts yet

Not only NullSec and Jita, also High and Low Sec. And it continous also after DownTime.
its working now when you reconnect but when I make a fleet I have no fleet chat on 5 accounts

No chat connections in game.
18 accounts logging in and out several times and STILL NO FRIGGIN CHAT CHANNELS. CCP seems to be like a kindygarden atm
Well, chat was working this morning for me, after DT all gone! COMMUNICATION IS KEY IN SITUATIONS LIKE THESE.
that is 100% my whole complaint about this situation in general. We all know that these type of things can happen. But a quick update every couple of hours would go a long way.
I seriously hope the magic silver bullet from Neustar is not the only thing you came up with.
I hope there is serious detective work going on. Like getting your hands on an infected computer, hiring experts, identifying C&C servers, getting search warrants, etc.
Uhhhm hey smart guy - they requested 5222 be opened March 20th - as in, if it worked for someone 2 weeks ago on port 5222 then why not now? Same port,it’s not like we magically closed our ports on our end in the last 3 days.

Have you considered a link with the last launcher update? I started getting this problem directly afterwards. I have always succeeded in logging on at the second attempt, and the failure message comes up so quickly, it is as if the launcher gives up before it even tries.
I can connect to the game after few times clicking ok button but that’s not the issue. I cannot connct to local/corp chat. It’s not playable for me without those channels. I just recently bought PLEX to play after some time and now I can’t play? Like WTF… PLS fix that nonsense.

Doesn’t matter when it was posted, the current message in-game is specifically asking to make sure that port is open.
The game is still playable. Those that need comms, why not use one of the out-of-game offerings, they are generally better any way.
As for local, just ignore it and use your dscan. You don’t know if others are there but they don’t know you’re there
DScan is your friend.
It is not the problem that that port is not open.
I had one account where is worked and another where it didn’t before downtime.
After downtime today no account are able to access chat.
So my port is open, the chat system is not…
Like others have done in an attempt to reconnect to in-game chat:
- Port 5222 is open, is white-listed in firewall and anti-virus
- Using VPN through Great Britain (from US)
- Reinstalled client
- Cleared cache of unused files
All of these have failed to fix the problem. In my mind, that confirms that its not an issue related to anything that I have control over. It’s something from CCP-side that they have to identify and fix for many (but not all) users.
If this saga teaches CCP anything, I hope its that they need to hire more community relations people to engage with the mess of problems that people are experiencing currently.
