01/02/2020 - Connectivity Issues

I understand and I feel the exact same way.
I’ve said this before though, read what’s been happening and try some of the options laid out. The chat and local is an issue that keeps flapping and needs to be fixed.
The worst thing that CCP has done in all of this is let players go days on end with no status update or official statement.
Whoever began the ddos attacks not only attacked CCP, they attacked all of us. The damage is real.
I am going to give them whatever time it takes them to work out their issues.
Hopefully between CCP, their circuit providers, and the EvE community as a whole, all the bugs and issues that are a result of the attacks will get addressed and corrected for long term results.
CCP absolutely needs to put out a statement on this forum and their News page and link the page within the launcher.
Try to have some patience though.
This too shall pass.

I’m worried this won’t pass anytime soon. if they keep neustar as their ddos protection advisor there’s no telling how long it will take for them to correctly route all of the US players.

Other than comments a couple of days ago that their engineers are hard at work, I see no evidence that they are. My connection problems have actually gotten worse and communication has disappeared.

Any recommendations on a good VPN? Seems like my only option at this point from east coast USA.

The methods that were working somewhat for the last 2 days have now stopped altogether. I haven’t been able to get in at all for the last 8 hours.

It might be time to contact my credit card company and dispute my subscription charges. I have 2 paid accounts that are going to waste and it’s CCP’s responsibility to fix this, not mine to install and run some third-party software.

ExpressVPN has been working for me. It’s not perfect but it works and I do not get DC’d.
I have had to switch from Iceland, Sweden, and Netherlands to get chat and local to function decent.
I do not plan to use this long term.
12.50 was cheap for a month for a decent VPN that is less likely to be blacklisted than a free VPN service.

It has been a good 10+ years. I’ve made a lot of friends in the game, however, I can’t log in to play with the friends I have made!!! I have tried all the suggestions here, clear the cache, uninstall/reinstall, VPN (which worked for 10 minutes). Nothing has worked. Contacted support, but again, can’t even log in to the website to check the status of the support ticket!!! So again, what am I paying for??? No communication, no support, no gameplay, no nothing!

Please, if you’re smarter than me (which you obviously think you are), tell me what my solution is to get back to playing this game, please!

I’ve been unable to log in for the majority of the past of the past ~5 days. The times that I was able to get in, I would disconnect in 5 - 10min and couldn’t bring up any menus before disconnecting.

I’m avoiding the use of a VPN because I don’t want my accounts to get automatically banned (there is a risk of this occurring) from the account abuse mitigation system which would result in creating a ticket (and a lot of time) to get accounts unbanned. This would be a worse scenario.

I pay for three accounts and was just about to log in to temporarily unsubscribe until the issue is resolved because I don’t want to pay for game time I can’t use. But I can’t even sign in to support.eveonline.com to manage my account - login.eveonline.com times out. So now I’m stuck, subscribed and paying for a game I can’t play. (I’m an East Coast (USTZ) player).

I hope CCP is reading/monitoring this thread.

As of right now, the client doesn’t even reach the connection screen, it immediately disconnects outright.

I do not think I am smarter than anyone here. In fact, I know I’m not. There are some bright folks out there.
I just felt compelled to reply to your comment because it shows your first post in the forums was that you un-subbed and that you were abandoning 10+ years of time invested due to a week of bad game time.

This is my last communication with CCP in the past hour.

" There has been zero mention of situation status on the news page.
There are days in the forums without a single comment from someone in CCP.
People want to know what the status is.
Are you still aware that thousands of players are still unable to log in?
Are you aware that the ones that can, including those on a VPN are having significant issues with the chat server and local not updating properly?

Someone needs to put out a formal statement or I do fear that thousands will absolutely leave EvE permanently.

Please put out a statement regarding status of the login and chat issues."

This is the response I received…

" Hello there, GM Hermes here.

I apologize for the inconvenience this brought up. Devs are prioritizing to stabilize the servers and put the situation under the control. I can assure you that all personnel of CCP Games is fully aware of the issues. I would like to tell you more, but sadly, specific information is limited even to GMs.

Your patience is highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

I read the EULA and asked CCP about VPN connections.
Normally they may suspend your account, not ban your account, there is a big difference.

One of the ticket responses I received is this…

" Hello, Copper Rei! I am GM Aragog.

We are currently investigating the issue. In the meantime you could try using a VPN service to get a different connection route to the server. That might let you connect. I’m afraid I can’t give you any specific VPN service however as we do not endorse the use of VPN normally. I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you. You can keep posted on our News page, Twitter or our Communications Center in the forums for more information on this.

In meantime, I do appreciate your patience and understanding!

Best Regards,
GM Aragog

Even with a VPN connection, you may get the message that you cannot reach the server when launching EvE.
When using VPN, I exit the message and try to connect again and it connects fine.
If my chat is not functioning at all, I switch to a different VPN destination and re-connect.
Once connected with chat working, I can stay online for hours without issue.

I hope this helps some of you.

Today, the game does not work at all. The login window appears as a blank white page. I got the username and password fields to appear once by right clicking and choosing “reload” a bunch of times. After getting past that, there is no connection to the server. The error message shown is different than the one in the OP here. It says something like “either you’re not connected to the internet or the server is down”. I would post a screenshot of it, but I cannot get past the login window again.

I was able to login earlier today, but apparently now I’m not even able to connect to the SSO server to renew my authentication token. The client won’t even freaking start now. Great.

I to have been unable to login for the last few days. This is getting old fast. I hope there is some kind of compensation for those who are affected. It’s cost me at least 233 million per day minimum and there are market orders to update. Was curious if I removed accounts from login screen and now I can’t even login to the login screen. Sucks big time.

I’ve heard there are internet problems like this all over though so i wonder if that is part of this.

Only if you get the money back. Otherwise I’d call it throwing good money after bad.

I am trying to be as positive as possible and to help people to understand what is happening and what options they do have.

I can’t fix the servers and I can’t fix your individual connection issues.
All I can do is post what I learn as I learn it.

I’m taking a day or two off from the forums.
Most of you are just too determined to remain angry and point fingers at CCP and each other.
If all you look for is fault in things, all you will ever see is fault in things.

For those who are looking for solutions, read back in the three main connectivity threads that were started beginning on the 27th of Jan. There are some good answers in there among all the hate and frustration.

Good luck to you all. I’ll be back in a couple days to see what comments this posting incites.

Despite the issues, I’ve renewed my Omega as of today.

Yes the communication on this hasn’t been stellar, but then again I’d rather the dev’s focus be on correcting the issues rather than repeating themselves on the forums with the same generic “we’re working on it” message every time someone gets mad that there hasn’t been a response in 38 minutes.

Keeping the fingers crossed for gameplay time this week!

The Dev’s are not the PR/HR/CSR/etc… Other people should be tasked with that daily “We acknowledge our paying customers exist” message…
