A month of Omega certainly seems reasonable to me. Of course, there are the logistics to that as well. Anything they give is not just to those adversely affected but to all players. CCP is a business and while Omega accounts are a primary source of Income I doubt it makes up the majority of it. But then you run in to the people trying to cash in with the Omega that were not active, let their accounts lapse just before. What are the requirements, where is the limit to this.
For now, we can see this as taking a week. A month of Omega is 500 PLEX.
125 PLEX, a fourth of a month’s worth, seems fair. Maybe not enough, but a compromise to be made.
hi, so far none of the CCP has spoken of a possible refund for ships/pod that were lost during the last server problem (DDoS attack or other problem). Until now the CCP policy has been a full refund for ships and equipment lost during a DDoS attack. Do you think it’s worth this time too?
(I made the ticket but I already know that I will have to wait a long time)
" With regards to any compensation for the disruption we would suggest that you regularly check the EVE Online News site for any such information. We can not guarantee that any compensation will be provided but if it is granted it will done globally, at the discretion of the developers, rather than by GMs to individual accounts."
Is this also stopping my Chat windows? I tried the method listed to get online and it seemed to work, but I kept getting the message that attempts to open my Chars failed.
Yeah, there are many problems and various ways they are occurring to players. Some are able to log in and have no problem staying on and little to no problems with Chat. I was hearing conflicting reports about counts in Local which, really isn’t surprising. That happens now and again with EVE, it’s just a part of Capsuleer Life.
Others are able to log in but have no access to any channel and find it difficult to access various parts of EVE (Market specifically, but other NeoComm functions are slow to load as well).
Then there are those, which I fall in the category of, where while it takes me a few times to log in, it is usually a fairly simple few extra steps. Once I am online however, and I undock, I am playing Russian Roulette with the Server until it decides to arbitrarily drop me. Jumping gates tends to increase the likelihood of this happening, though it can happen simply idling in space.
Network communication between your computer and the EVE Online server has been interrupted.
This may be caused by local internet connectivity issues, by a server reboot, or by a temporary network disruption between your location and the EVE Online data center.
Connection Timeout - The server did not initiate the compatibility-handshake within a reasonable amount of time…
I just signed up for EVE a few days ago, and it seemed to work just fine for the first few tutorials. I really enjoyed the activity. Then the bottom dropped out. First thing I did was come up here to the forum to find an answer, and here we are,
I play online all the time - DCS World, Arma III, Post Scriptum…and I have never run into this problem. I understand EVE has been around for a long time, usually with 10’s of thousands of users online at a time. Is this something that happens up here on a regular basis. If so, I might not be so inclined to stick around. I spend real $$ on mods and stuff, so I can’t see paying for things and not being able to use them.
I have been playing off and on for about five years now. DDoS attacks are fairly common place. I would say maybe once every two to three months, especially around holidays. They usually only last for a few hours and then at the most, any lingering effects are cleared with the daily Server Reset at 6 / 7 AM EST.
This is the first time there has been this severe of an interruption.
Ultimately you are a consumer and it is your right to do with your money as you will, but if you do enjoy the game, I’d say give it a chance. Hopefully it will get sorted soon.
The frustration of people is just coming from not knowing what ‘soon’ means in this situation.
The frustration was in signing up because of a friend’s recommendation, and several YouTube intro videos, downloading gigabytes of data, logging in and then…not working.
I will be patient and wait. I’m impressed with the graphics and gameplay. Hope I can start learning the systems soon.
So game is broken.
Connection isseus.
When connected no chat.
Currently logged with 3 accounts
One chat is working. Second chat works in some systems in other it does not. 3th no chat at all …
CCP what do we do ?
How about extended downtime and fix all the issues?
This thing… play anyway and put support ticket if you lose anything… does not compensate for… time watested, trying to play borken game…
