10th Annual Venture Hunting Contest

I genuinely do not care about player retention.

The reason? I believe that player retention is a matter for CCP alone.

If CCP gets it wrong (or, of course, ‘right’), the game will lose some players. It will lose me if I lose interest, but you will certainly not find me wringing my hands in anguish because my ill thought-through suggestions are being ignored.

Leave player retention to CCP. Derive what enjoyment you can from EVE, but be active in seeking it out!

At least you’re honest. CCP should learn from your honesty and quit making ads that depict EVE as anything other than a cashgrab and predatory practices throughout the game.
CCP encourages ganking and griefing only because it makes them money, just like botting does. It’s All About the Money and nothing else, it’s certainly not about the players whom CCP bans from r/eve for no reason and without any explanation or warning whatsoever and now he won’t play EVE anymore so I play on his account, letting the Omega run out.
Well I’m here to play “for free” just like it said advertised on Steam: It says “free to play” and I damn sure am going to play it for free.
Come gank these free ships, guys

@Nita_Kateri We’re not “players” “capsuleers” or even people. We’re numbers, just like everywhere else. They happen to be going down on a particular server owned by some particular numbers who think themselves as people. Your friend who got banned from r/eve found out precisely that.

And yet, as I have numerous times pointed out here, on a regular basis more Ventures are destroyed by NPCs than by gankers.

Well that could change, as title of post suggest

@ISD_Traindriver my post was in the right place.

It was posted in general and in the right place as a warning to pilots, as not many venture into C and P.

So now only the 10 to 15 player who read c and p will know about it.

Again it seems ganking is brushed under the carpet and ignored, its a player event relish it, promoter it and the fact people like me try to fight it, is this not what eve is about.

Because of ebil gankers.

MakeEveGreatAgain (MEGA)

Remove all pvp! Prosecute the griefers! Lock them up in jail and remove those psychos from society! They are a threat to democracy!

As I have pointed out, both to you and to the neighbour’s cats, if changes impact me negatively, and I can find nothing else of interest in the game, I’ll simply leave. It really isn’t a problem, and I don’t quite understand the position of those people for whom the prospect appears to take on catastrophic proportions.

One thing is certain; losing current players and failing to retain new ones is surely a recipe for disaster!

Why on earth would Cap’n Hilmar Veigar Pétursson seek the advice of Able Seaman Kell in navigating his vessel?

He should totally hire me. I’m the best at being an expert in fields that I know nothing about and thus qualifying me as a expert at telling people how to do their jobs and run their business better!

When the cat jumps out of the bag and is let loose… Frostpacker greatly appreciates events such as these;

Aha so you let the cats out!

Who let the cats out?
Who, who, who, who, who?

Aiko is not giving herself enough credit. I have always found the highsec ganking crews to be very welcoming to new players, if they have the right attitude.

This, is true. When I started the HMA I wanted to support ganking but… “nice?”. I figured that the Safety. folks were toxic for the sake of being toxic. But, the truth is that they may push the buttons but it’s the players that choose how they react. And, how your react is important. Safety. is basically a litmus test to determine if you have the potential to be a good Eve player. If you can take the loss in stride and learn from the lesson, then there’s hope. If your react with blind hostility and threats of real-life violence, there may not be. If you lose a ship, in EVE, it is always your fault. If you can’t internalize that lesson, then you will never enjoy this game. Instead, you will try to change this game into something you do enjoy. And, that is a death sentence for this game.

Aiko bullies me every day trying to get me to break and admit that I’m a secret carebear, but so far I’ve kept up the facade and haven’t cracked, even though internally I’m like totally

What a surprise. Not only does one have to pay subscription but he still can’t play the game because some bored action-starved nerds think that exploding ships is what makes sci-fi sci-fi and pew-pew is fun because George Lucas said so.
EVE showcases the worst kind of sci-fi and is the worst kind of MMO, the predatory kind.

So you blame George Lucas for Highsec ganking?

Talking about bored action-starved nerds…

Han griefed first.

Even Han got ganked in the end.

If I’ve too drastically clipped what you said - apologies!

I didn’t mention ganking, Lucas. My point is that the cumulative effects of losing current players (for any reason) in addition to not retaining newer players, are challenges CCP is no doubt anxious to avoid.

‘We enjoy the game and would prefer it to remain running.’ Same here. I express that sentiment in similarly calm tones (always), and I refrain from telling CCP what it should do with its game.

You have frequently quoted or referred to statements made by the Company regarding their commitment to addressing griefing. If you trust CCP’s statements of intent with such conviction, why not then also leave up to them the issue of retention?

Not everything is about ganking.
