That’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone say they look forward to buying a new high-end PC so they can play a broken unfinished mess…
Obviously you are going to ignore the fact that you can BUY and PLAY the game for less than 100$ even though I specifically mentioned it and yeah, I’m definitely gonna spend 50k bro
And no I’m not buying a high-end PC JUST to play Star Citizen. I was going to build a PC anyway and I’ve just decided I’m going to give it a shot.
I’m sorry that I want to play actually good games, and I’ve spent years searching for an actually good space sim to rival Eve
Newsflash: Star Citizen is the only game that does this
The game is just cool dudes. I don’t care what anyone says at this point. Seeing videos of people climbing in and out of these awesome looking ships, playing around with all the ship systems, running around struggling to play this complicated game.
To me, it looks FUN. It looks like a truly next gen game. Something we’ve never seen before.
And it’s a truly persistent universe that could rival Eve in my opinion.
The fact that it’s taking so long to develop and the monetization is so insane kind of just goes to show that this game is truly ambitious and one of a kind.
Anyway I’m just excited to start gaming hardcore again. I’m excited to come back to Eve and also excited to try Star Citizen.
if you don’t care, please send me your isk
I’m still playing Eve you goof
Then Star Citizen is probably the wrong game for you. A friend of mine plays it and told me that any ship you buy for real cash simply respawns on destruction, it cannot be taken away from you. So your kills are worthless, his losses mean nothing. What is “hardcore” about that concept?
So, from what I’ve read it seems they have an insurance system in the game that either replaces your ship or gives you a payout upon destruction.
This is pretty similar to Eve, it’s just not based on a player driven economy.
Apparently if you buy a ship with real life cash, it is permanently linked to your account and cannot be permanently lost. So it is true that the game is LESS hardcore than Eve in this regard, but does that REALLY disqualify SC from being a good game, or even a hardcore game?
You can’t permanently lose your ships in No Man’s Sky either, as a matter of fact you can’t even PvP in that game. Yet people still consider NMS a game comparable to Eve.
I mean think about it, half the whiners on this forum would love for Eve to follow the same path as Star Citizen, it’s these same cry baby carebears who want more lenient punishments for in game death, they want LESS ganking, LESS full loot, LESS permanent ship loss, etc.
And here we have a game that is doing exactly that, in Star Citizen, except in the case of SC you guys are now saying that because it’s not as hardcore as Eve, that should permanently disqualify it from this discussion?
That makes no sense to me, especially considering that Star Citizen is pretty much on track to do everything that we could ever want in a game like this.
Is it truly hardcore? Okay maybe not in the same sense as Eve, but it IS hardcore in the sense that it’s arguably the most realistic spaceship simulator there is right now, WITH open PvP, WITH a persistent universe, and yeah it has some issues.
But if people are going to come in here and suggest No Man’s Sky and Elite Dangerous (a game where you can also shut PvP off completely if you want, so if SC isn’t hardcore then Elite is literally a baby game), then I’m going to say to hell with all that crap, you might as well go play the real thing at that point. Star Citizen it is.
Basically yeah, if Star Citizen isn’t hardcore enough to count as a good alternative to Eve, then No Man’s Sky and Elite are both literally the most casual, user-friendly, easy-mode games for children that should never be mentioned in this conversation either. At least Star Citizen actually HAS PvP and ganking that can’t just be turned off in the settings.
As a matter of fact, if you’re going to go that far, there is no other game that we can ever play besides Eve. At least not yet.
Personally I’m willing to make SOME compromises for a game that checks most of the boxes that I’m looking for in a good space sim. SC is actually pretty groundbreaking and it’s doing things that have never been done in video gaming history.
I think it’s pretty cool
I don’t say it disqualifies SC as a game, or even from being a good game. It certainly is a good game for those who enjoy this type of gamplay. But from what I have seen it is also more like a “flight simulator in space” than a “Hardcore PvP Game”. I have yet to see really big space battles (literally meaning hundreds of players battleing it out in a giant slugfest in the same area with huge Capital ships down to the smallest fighter craft, like a StarWars Battlefield with real players. Not sure if the SC engine even allows that.
For me, so far the game looks more like a Freelancer™ with a (limited) multiplayer mode and better graphics / more options. Which is fine tbh, I enjoyed Freelancer™ a lot. Can it replace the huge socal aspect of EVE where you basically build up relations over years and a network of contacts, a bank of assets and wealth that gives you power and options to change the outcome of wars? To really claim “ownership” over locations and holding them by force, with a huge organization of real players in the background that cooperate and work for a common goal? I doubt SC can deliver that kind of gameplay anytime soon.
Call me pessimistic but I doubt SC will ever be able to deliver a tenth of what EVE can deliver now. In my judgment, SC will continue to be what it is now for another 10 years, then the money will dry up or a few key team members will resign and the game will be in limbo for another 10 years and, at best, will never be finished or, at worse, the project will close down amid several financial and management scandals.
I think that game is called Candy Crush.
No game does that other than Eve though. We’ve already been through this. There is no other game like Eve, nor is anyone here saying that Star Citizen, or any of the other games listed, is going to compare to Eve in ALL of these aspects.
Literally no one here said that. And I’ve already stated numerous times how great Eve is and how no game compares to it, for exactly the same reasons that you just listed.
I love how all the white knights on this forum will literally come riding to the rescue if you state the simple fact that Eve is a PvP game, but the moment you dare to suggest that Star Citizen might be worth a shot, all of a sudden PvP is the only thing that matters, literally down to every last detail, and it HAS to include every single type of ship class as well of course I am not surprised at the lack of consistency around here.
Star Citizen HAS to be bad right? Never mind the fact that there actually HAS been 100+ players duking it out together in the same area, but WAIT, it doesn’t count unless there was a titan on grid!!!
I do love the fact that people can some how get hearted on comments while literally arguing against something that no one said.
What you basically said was “yeah, you’re right Star Citizen could be a good game in its own way, but let me give you a list of reasons why it will never be EXACTLY like Eve!!! Got ya!!!” and people actually support this kind of crap disingenuous argumentation.
It’s kind of embarrassing really.
Also, fun fact, when I searched for the biggest battle in Star Citizen, the AI search results literally gave me the Battle of B-R5RB, which just so happened to be an Eve Online battle, not a Star Citizen one. So that’s kind of funny.
It’s already been said numerous times that Star Citizen is more of a “flight simulator” than a “hardcore PvP game” bro. YOU LITERALLY DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING NEW HERE LOL. But of course people are going to support you for regurgitating the same old tired trash argumentation.
But okay, let’s calm down a bit and focus on some simple facts.
Star Citizen has been in development for over a decade. Yet the game is “playable” and is currently a one of a kind, unique game that has literally never been done before.
But if you actually think for TWO SECONDS about how long it takes to make these kinds of games, you’ll realize that it’s not that crazy for a game as ambitious as Star Citizen. Plenty of huge multiplayer games take 7 years, 8 years, 9 years or more to actually release, and none of them have even close to the levels of ambition that Star Citizen has. And no I’m not going to list all of them but Starfield is just ONE example of a science fiction game that took 8 years to make and it’s a single player slop fest from Bethesda, an YES I realize it’s not the same kind of game (before you try and straw man) that’s not the point, hurr durr, try and stay focused here. Star Citizen is far more ambitious than most games, therefore it’s going to take longer to make.
Please don’t reply to this telling me how SC will not be EXACTLY like Eve because I already know that and I’ve already stated it a bajillion times in this thread, and that goes for any other science fiction game. You’re not stating anything new. Eve is a one of a kind game, we’ve been through this a million times. Try again.
What is new in Star Citizen that has never been done before? Space mining was a thing in SWG over 20 years ago. Multi-crewed ships were a thing in SWG over 20 years ago. Walking in stations was a thing in SWG over 20 years ago.
Was SWG also a first person shooter? Could you board other players ships knock them out and then throw them in jail? Was it also a highly detailed and realistic spaceflight simulator?
I’m not even gonna waste time arguing with that bro
You might as well be comparing Lego Star Wars to Starfield
You can do better than that
Buying ships with real money to the tune of €80 or €100 and up. Clearly a money-grab.
10 years in development to get an expensive “Playable” game that’s more a project than a game. To me, “playable” means that it’s unfinished, no one knows when or if it will be and has tons of bugs. But I’m supposed to buy a ship that costs hundreds of euros… sure, yeah, right…
By the way Starfield took 8 years to make and it’s a single player slop fest from Bethesda.
GTA 6 has also been in development since 2014
There is no other game like Star Citizen
Another bug riddled game? I will never pay for their crap again.
Is another fail.
Yeah… that’s completely besides the point though. Hurr durr. Figure it out
