Abyssal Pockets and the Ships to Run Them

Even as a Faction cruiser it’s still from an entirely different race - so the resistance profile doesn’t need to follow anything established. In fact, it would have been refreshing to see something a little different - such as an armor-hull fit sans shields.

They also could’ve played around with the mass by giving it a lot of maneuverability at the expense of top speed. It also could have been given higher tracking in lieu of a drone bay.

I’ve stated it before and I’ll state it again: I don’t know how these things ever defeated a Drifter.

some more info on sisi, should have just about everything you need.

there’s also a whole forum section for sisi

sounds like you are over tanking, and if you cant kill the rats in time I dunno if I’d call that viable.

can be useful for the drone waves, but the drifter utility cruiser spawns will be out of range.

in an electrical storm yea probably, but you also wouldn’t be using the smartbombs vs the neut cruisers. medium smartbombs have very limited range. Might be useful for bltizing low tier sites on drone waves though.

That is exactly what they did. The triglavian ships all have low mass compared to the ships we know and as a downside the top speed isn’t very high.

I was thinking the same thing. The triglavian cruiser can reach very good top speeds with an afterburner and with more afterburner speed, you mitigate a lot of incoming damage, making your remote reps more efficient.
On SiSi I got 822m/s with a t2 non-enchanted afterburner and even if you put an 800mm plate on, you still move at 750-ish m/s.

Fly a pair or 3 of them and see for yourself.

The battleships can fit 3x large remote reps and only needs one cap transfer mod to keep it repping, which is pretty strong, the more pilots you have.
However 60km is not that far for a battleship. In a few weeks I can check out how far the t2 long range ammo reaches out.

Thanks, that’s what I was referring to.

I asked earlier in the thread if anybody tried a Nos on the NPC’s to counter all the Neuts.

the npcs should be able to be nosed they have a capacitor

As far as testing i was able to do all the 4 minus resist tier 5 filaments with only slight scares here and there from say exp strong drone swarm in minus exp area and ofc the crazy 9 neuting cruiser drifter ball of death was scary as it should be otherwise whenever i have the timer up i finish a site with between 2 and 7 minutes left depending on content inside

So basically you haven’t actually tried a Nos on them.

On average, what ship and fit worked the best for you in completing all of the different Abyssal Pockets.

I completed successfuly Tier V Dark and Electrical Filament with passive shield tanked Gila, but got lucky to have Automata Suppressors in all pockets so it was easy to tank the swarms of drones. Not quite sure how things are gonna be with drifters though. Here is the fit I used:

[Gila, Abyss T5 RLML+Target Painter]
Shield Power Relay II
Shield Power Relay II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

Target Painter I
Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Extender II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
10MN Afterburner II
Stasis Webifier II

Rapid Light Missile Launcher II
Rapid Light Missile Launcher II
Rapid Light Missile Launcher II
Rapid Light Missile Launcher II
Small EMP Smartbomb I

Medium Core Defense Field Purger II
Medium Core Defense Field Purger II
Medium Core Defense Field Purger II

Infiltrator II x5
Valkyrie II x5

Caldari Navy Inferno Light Missile x2080

I just tried a t5 Gamma and it was not too hard dealing with drones even without the automata suppressor. the drone insane dps is countered very well by the regen. I used your fit, it worked out. The real test will be against the drifters/triglavians

Well my gila didn’t work well against neuting drifter cruisers and batlleship in the first pocket of Chaotic Gamma Filament. Somehow I managed to pass but on the next pocket there were a drone battleship which was kiting at 15 km with a web on me and even with MWD fitted, due to lack of cap (was neuted hard on the firts pocked) I couldn’t do the pocket on time. Lovely explossions at the end. :joy:

You should have took some screenshots.

I went through a t5 firestorm in an armor tanked ship, and I’m still waiting to see a fire tornado, where’s all the lightning and cool weather effects? =x

Anyway I tried using a sacrilege as an armor tanked/missile boat, it could do some damage but just not enough DPS to fend off that ridiculous drone battleship in a t5, got me 3 times now. Obviously I think for things like that you want range or as much in your face damage as possible, but in say the firestorm, difficult. Because you want to capitalize on that 50% HP bonus to compensate for your damage to explosive resistance.

So you’ll definitely need to have ships that are specialized at least for the firestorm and the gamma ray. Armor for fire, Shield for Gamma.

Yes the +shield hp suits the passive tanked gila very well avoid adding a 3rd large shield extender for any reason your increased sig will make the bs bosses in tier 5s hit you better

I’m leaving some minor hint here for tier 5 I’ve also been making use of exile/blue pill drugs along with 3% hardwirings at times so far this is the kind of upgrades I’d use on tq for trig space I’ve also considered cost effective tanking mods which aren’t readily available on singularity like faction eanm/specific hardener/dmg mod, more advanced upgrades like crystal implants or asklepians will depend on the amount of isk the sites will generate

I was trying to find an universal fit that would work in all Tier V types, without making fit so blingy, not using any implants or drugs, but I guess I am failing so far.

Drugs aren’t that expensive neither are 3% hardwirings a hac hull is like 300mil fit +t2 rigs maybe another 100

theyre designed so no one ship can be dominant in all.

I ran an Ashimmu through a Tier I. It didn’t do to bad except in the last room when managing the cap, webbers and lasers along with the webber was a delicate balance though.

Tiers 1 through 3, use a Gila, burn to the gate, spam missiles and drones everywhere. Win. It’s that easy. I haven’t tried Tier 4 or 5 yet.

Tier4 is quite nice it doesn’t have that constant feel of ‘do I still have enough time’ like tier 5 because the bs bosses have less hp
