I don’t get it though. They are killing it the same way they are killing highsec ganking.
The rewards were utter nonsense, but the way they nerfed it and the way they communicated it - clearly they have no idea what are they doing or rather they can’t see where their changes will lead to. That content deserved a nerf, but nerf of a payout, difficulty and respawn position.
With keeping the 3bil reward per site but adding a 90minutes timer I believe the whole region will see less PvP and farming these sites will be much less risky and will be performed 24/7 by very few players, those who can play 24/7 or who are straight up botting this ■■■■.
I think it helps if you try to understand the limitations of the CCP dev team. Changing some hard-coded integer from 0 to 90 minutes is doable. Rebalancing rewards would probably be virtually impossible.

I’d have thought they’d have some big spreadsheet or something equivalent where every conceivable tweak to the game would output ‘42’ or something. I mean, I doubt it’s all done on the back of a beer mat in some Icelandic pub…even if the game feels that way sometimes.
I am pretty sure the game code is just a giant heaping mess. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had even lost some of the source code.
I thought I heard somewhere that one developer who was trying to do something, maybe logi on killmails? was literally hit by a bus and absolutely no one knew what he was doing or how to change it so it just never happened. I think eve is full of stuff like that.
it’s true. last time i wanted to be ganked (to get rid of a free killright on me), i had to pay someone to do it.
