But Jonah. These are the core values of the carebear.
Oh well, you can’t fix stupid; you can merely try to kill it with antimatter before it breeds.
I agree with that in principle, BUT! we already know those options aren’t even on the table, in this case, because this thread exists.
Eh. sometimes the gankers just decide you are the example and unless you are in a sub 2s align ceptor or a true covert cloaky, they can get you if they really want.
It may not be the most efficient gank to do so of course, but let’s not pretend that there is some magical level of awareness that can keep for example a freighter safe. You can only make them more likely to gank the next freighter instead of you.
Which is fine of course. If people want you bad enough they should be able to get you.
To paraphrase John Wayne, Eve is hard, it’s harder if you’re stupid.
True, this is as it should be. As far as I’m concerned my place is to make that as hard as possible for them to do so, thus making them pick someone who has been dumber, lazier or greedier than I.
Checks kilboard: Coagulant | Character | zKillboard = 100% gangs … you’re not a pvper according to your own definition. What you are though is: a huge dumbass suffering from small cock syndrome.
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.
Nobody complained when Alphas were denied level 4 missions. Or their complaints went un-cared for more likely.
So why are alphas allowed to gank? But it gets even worse going deeper: ganking is said to take way more skill. What are the chances that a total noob player is going to do it? Certainly there are “noobs’ guide to ganking” manuals out there. But still the rank noob, the one who the alpha account was intended for so he can try before he buys is not even going to know what a suicide gank is.
Unless said suicide gank happens to him.
This means that suicide ganking is likely to be done by experienced players who should have progressed beyond alpha anyway. So if it happens to an alpha player who just wants to see what the game is all about, and they get ganked by some alpha player, that means a free account is used to prevent a paying account.
And that does not make sense.
But overall, when all is said and done, since it’s OK to deny content to alpha accounts, and suicide ganks are “content” according to those who tout the litter…uh… sandbox, it’s only fair and logical to freeze the safety button for alpha accounts.
Tit for tat. Fair is fair.
Or suicide gankers can continue to be coddled with free throwaway accounts.
When CCP introduced clone states, CCP Seagul highlighted in video that clone states is for both old and new players, which also kicks off the devblog CCP posted at the time:
…our plans for a new feature that will let both old and new players take part in EVE Online for free.
There was also this Q&A part:
Q: Won’t suicide ganking using free characters be a major problem?
A: We don’t think clone states will have much impact on suicide ganking or other harassment in high-sec. But, we will be paying very close attention and if this becomes an issue we can pursue options to improve the situation such as turning safety’s on for Alphas in high sec or making changes to the allowed skills list.
Since they released clone states, CCP have made it more accessible to use an Alpha, not less.
So if they’ve been paying attention and yet have expanded the access for alphas and not locked safety to green which was identified as a possibility by them back in 2016, then their expectation must have been validated.
As usual, storm in a teacup issue.
Also, when Level 4s were removed from Alpha access, there were plenty of people that whined.
When the torpedo homes in on your own boat…
If people try to kill me, my bad if they succeed. I try to kill others, so it’s only right to be prepared for it coming the other way.
Lvl4 removed cuz free bots farm a lot of ISK not paying fees to CCP
That was CCP’s reasoning, yes. Still, a lot of people did whine at the time.
Suicide Gankers get a pig payoff when they take down a freighter. Why do they get to earn ISK without paying CCP?
Because they’re creating content, unlike mission farmers who just farm their private instances, and because there’s no realistic way to only allow “low level” suicide ganking as an equivalent to level 1-3 missions.
(Now, I am all in favor of more nerfs to alphas, but there’s still a difference between farming and PvP.)
Make it impossible to switch “Safety Settings” (always green). This will be one of the good solutions for Alpha Clones.
I would like to watch how you kill a freighter with an Alpha pilot.
Did you read the title?
That’s i’m talking about - Alphas must be limited is this case.
But for truth - if you just kill a freighter, you dont earn anything except the CONCORD.
And if you need loot that fat boi freighter - you need an omega for ship with enough cargo.
Anyway it’s not about moneymaking. It’s about ignoring the rules.
You can create and gear up new Alpha even faster than your crime timer is out.
with 20 or so - it would be easy.
Yeah, but then it is a lot of effort to set up 20 Alpha clients without CCP noticing.
And that’s 20 players, so good luck to them for having a heap of fun together.
