Alphas and highsec pvp

Your meme says that people who die play longer. But this does not take into account the context in which they die. Not all deaths are equal. Getting unwillingly ganked in high sec in a freighter is a far cry from dying in a combat ship in a war you signed up for.

And account cancelations? Who actually cancels their account? And who fills out a survey before doing so, as if they give a damn the direction the game will go once they are on the way out? Particularly if this is a one or two week old character.

While it is not my stance that hi sec suicide ganks lead to quitting to a high degree, I also don’t take any stock in the “facts” in your meme in relation to high sec suicide ganking.

More limited thinking. I am not a puppy. Nor do I generally fly ships that fly like dogs.

There is no “let” about this.

This has a lot in common with how to survive a zombie attack. You don’t need to be the fastest, you just can’t be the slowest. But somebody is going to get it. And in a place like Uedama, loads of somebodies always do.

This has got to be the worst fit I’ve ever seen for an orca, on top of that 0.5 system, of course that’s tempting gankers with the taste of nutz and honey.

Only idiots bring ships with bling through Uedama…

That’s a them problem, Eve is not a single player or solo game, never has been, never will.

Calling it a meme is rather reductive. I’d call it a slide from a presentation given by a dev.

Regardless, the fact remains that CCP has failed to find any evidence of ganking leading to players quitting. And people like me keep bringing this up because other players keep insisting otherwise.

Proud to say I’ve never been ganked. I used to say Hi to Aaaarrgg all the time when I played more. He/them dont come after me because I learned a long time ago how not to be a target.

Ganking is a highly skilled sport. Even though I gave it up for the most part.

Maybe you shouldn’t send puppies/snowflakes into a highly completive game?

LOL

The range of hi sec ganking is wide, from actions any fresh idiot with an underpowered laptop could perform, to activities requiring top end multi-boxing skills.

But just because some forms of villainy take skill and practice does not mean its acceptable or even cool. Its like a soldier saying he trained for war, so now he deserves to have one started. WRONG!

Your lack of understand becomes apparent since you have never done it. It’s ok, keep ranting.

Your lack of understanding comes from the fact you actually think that’s a valid argument.

Its like saying I have no business having an opinion on shoplifiting since I never shoplifted.

Incidentally, I have suicide ganked gankers a few times to prevent ganks. Not sure if that will make you think I have a valid opinion now or if you are going to try and hand wave that away too.

How do you know shoplifters don’t make a profit?

Many words. Little meaning.

Just because you want that to have meaning, does not mean it does. It doesn’t. Its not related to anything. Its essentially random. It really makes me wonder about you.

And as always, you just go off topic. That’s another personal attack. Should I flag you for it?

It does relate as shoplifters/gankers/griefiers do make a profit from snowflakes.

You have not shown a relation…because there is no relation. Shoplifters making a profit is no relation to why it should be allowed or not.

If you feel personally attacked for your bizarre contention being called out for what it is, flag yourself.

Switching goal posts again…

The relation is it’s EVE, not rl. You cant seem to make the distinction? Some of your posts are good. You even had a good idea that I had to post in another thd to figure out it was actually a good idea because your such a snowflake, everything/everyone who disagrees with you is meet as a personal attack you because you cant have your own way and you delete your posts over it.

Turns out CCP had the idea you posted but deleted the feature.

You don’t even do enough homework on the forums to have even seen that and you want me to have any respect for you?

I do not know what your personal problem is, but clearly you have one. Respect? Respect is earned.

I never erased jack and I have told you before. And for that completely uncalled for and utterly false accusation, which is a REAL personal attack, I have nothing more to say to you.

Fail… (5 min)

Edit; The best part is I cant prove it since he deleted it all!

It’s not a meme. It’s a screenshot from a presentation CCP gave at the fanfest where they showed the results of an investigation they undertook to see if there is an issue with ganking and non-consensual PvP in general, because the sentiment of the vocal cearbears was always that it makes people quit.

Not only did it not show any correlation with players quitting when they involuntarily exploded, it actually showed inverse correlation, the player who lost a ship where the least likely to quit.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that ganking improves retention, correlation does not imply causation. It does however falsify the carebear hypothesis you and other constantly repeat without any evidence, that ganking or involuntary PvP are a major cause of player attrition.

That study was done at a time before alpha was a thing and where you had to cancel your subscription. Up on canceling there was a field where you could mention a reason. This part wasn’t about new characters, but about ALL subscription cancellations.

And obviously it makes complete sense for you to say “as if they give a damn the direction the game will go once they are on the way out”, because how else do you incorporate that conflicting data into your world view. They all simply have to be silent so the problem doesn’t show up? Very unlikely and completely baseless assumption. Even pretentious, given the fact that usually cearbears are very vocal about how they despise ganking and that CCP should get rid of it. What better opportunity to tell CCP that they screwd up by not banning it, at the point where you hurt their wallet by canceling!

Again, it’s not a meme but a screenshot from a presentation. They did not try to justify ganking when they set out to make that study, but where actually looking for evidence if ganking actually drives customers away. They where as surprised as most of the anti-content crew who where so sure this will finally get rid of ganking.

Obviously this study doesn’t sit well with the carebear crowd and we have seen countless excuses about why this isn’t relevant, etc bla bla…

Fact of the matter is that the party who has the most interest that players don’t quit because it costs them money, looked into the data to actually figure out if that’s a thing. They presented their conclusion in that presentation. And now people like you come here again, despite of it, with nothing to show, just a mere gut feeling that goes completely against what their data says.

How seriously do you think they take your moaning about ganking? How obvious do you think you are exposing yourself as someone who wants to just get rid of an inconvenience for his personal benefit but constantly uses “new players” as an excuse? I’m sure they have a great time laughing about your comments.

My 2 cents here. I was a newbro who saw mining as something that got me “good” isk. Went into a lowsec system, as I didnt know the difference between lowsec and highsec, and promptly got ganked in a venture.

Was I gutted, yes.

But I managed to contact the guy and learned from him, taught me how to d-scan, about local, and got me to where I am today, which ain’t much as you can see in my zkillboard, but I still love the game. 6 or more gila deaths in 6 months

One of the things I learned is highsec is not safesec as I thought previously. Thankfully I never got ganked in highsec as I had intel channels, and guidance from friendly corp mates. Perhaps the onus isnt on CCP to nerf ganking, but on the players to help newbies learn about it and deal with it?
