Alphas and highsec pvp

Yeah i only lasted like 5 minutes and i quit a long time ago. Ragequit infact. I kept getting ganked by these pink kittens that kept stealing my stuff.

It wasnā€™t like there was PvP or anything; it was the culture. The people weā€™re discussing are notorious for not being able to relate to sarcasm/wit/comedy whatsoever (case in point: all the joyless posting done by the Axis of Misery on these forums). They wouldā€™ve been torn apart verbally. If you know what Habbo Hotel was, itā€™s kind of similar to thatā€¦

Thats kryptonite for eve players.

Only the joyless ones who either canā€™t (or refuse to) differentiate between the video game experience and real life, and treat playing video games just like they treat working in real life (and focus on activities that feel similar to work, as opposed to those that feel like entertainment).

Dont take this thread off topic. There are no tears in this thread. Its simply saying require payment for omega content. Such as industry

You can still do industry even if youre alpha though.

Everyone naysaying me in the last few posts seem have made the same mistake. I am not pushing an agenda here. I am not advocating anything. I am just telling you the way things are for new players. Attacking the messenger wonā€™t change any of it. You can either accept the reality or stay in your little dream world where you believe things are different.

Especially you have to appreciate Aaarrgā€™s role play excuses for ganking. New players were told a completely different story when they signed up. Even if they read about those excuses before playing, all that information is going to be replaced with the new information in the tutorial and missions in 1.0 space. HIs role playing is not official doctrine. Therefore, new players will dismiss it at the door, and need time later to figure out its significance. Not my fault.

This is nothing to do with this crazy notion that I canā€™t separate game from RL. This is not about me. This is about how the mind of new players work. Hell, even some old players tooā€¦and its just like I sayā€¦its annoying enough when you have used 4 minutes of your time to get into a good sniper position in a 1st person shooter only to get killed before you can really use itā€¦and we have all seen vids of people smashing their controllers over such thingsā€¦but in EVE you might blow weeks of your LIFE to get something and that means a crap ton more to the player. Face it. You know its true. The inordinate amount of time people spend playing EVE to obtain individual items is time they will never get back.

That said, I doubt most alphas are new players. In fact, I bet most alphas are reasonably experienced players. And the OP thinks they should be denied hisec PVP content. I can see neither the harm nor the meaningful effect of that. In theory though, I cannot disagree with the premise.

And the player raging about this is in the wrong. They accepted the risk of losing when they logged in to a competitive game.

When a player suffers a loss, and comes to the forum to talk about it, they can express a lot of things. Being frustrated or upset? Fine. Asking what happened and how to avoid it in the future? Fine. Demanding the game change to prevent it happening again? Not fine.

Do players sink a lot of time into the game? Yes. But if they do so in a way they find boring, well, thatā€™s on them - this is a game, not a job, and anyone treating it as a job is going to burn themselves out anyway, even if they are never ganked. If they are actually having fun along the way, losing a ship, while frustrating, isnā€™t going to cause raging because it was fun to get there and will be fun to achieve again.

And? What exactly do you think your pontificating is going to accomplish? This has all been going on for quite some time and its going to keep going on.

And FYI this was not about the rage. This was about how much more of everything people invest in EVEā€¦their timeā€¦their emotionsā€¦their money. The rage was merely an example to illustrate the point of how much deeper this goes than some 10 minute capture the flag match.

If some players wrongly ā€œplayā€ the game in order to amass material possessions instead of to have an enjoyable time, thatā€™s on them, not on us. Why should the rest of us care that some chump was putting in a second workday seven days a week for six months to get an Estamelā€™s mod to shove on their Level 3-farming Gila? Why does the gameā€™s core integrity need to be stripped to cater to that specific personā€™s experience, at the expense of everyone else?

Who the hell said it was???

Care with our heart? NO. Care with your brain? As in understand the fact for the sake of considering the best course for EVE? Well that just depends on if you give a damn about the game I guess.

Your questions sound like the ramblings that come out of someone when they realize they were totally wrong headed before and then make a conscious decision to be wrong headed AGAIN to brush past the feeling of having been an unfair fool before. You know, rather than man up and admit their previous foolishness.

At the expense of EVERYONE else??? The gameā€™s core integrity? WTF?? Read the thread title and OP and catch up will ya? This is about alphas who do hi sec suicide ganking. Thatā€™s a small subset of players in one subset of space. Get a grip.

I am sorry. I now realize the error of my ways, and understand that the only way to keep the game healthy and happy, and ensure its existence for decades to come, is to implement changes that would make the lives of the respectable PvE-only majority as enjoyable as possible. The only sensible direction for EVE is to change it to be in line with the expectations of the modern cooperative gamer. PvP (especially the sociopathic, grief-based ā€œopen worldā€ variety) does not belong here, or anywhere else for that matter. The only people who desire it are the fringe members (if they can even be called that) of society consisting of criminals, rapists, and school-shooters.

I was wrong, and I apologize for everything I have ever written on these forums up until today.

@Aiko_Danuja I am also officially breaking up with you. I will not be associated with a real-life criminal like you any longer. You can keep the cats - they are probably griefers too.

It would be great if you just had the stones to apologize for the right thing for once.

Will the ones in my kidneys be sufficient? Iā€™ve spent so many years crying gankbear tears as the innocent, law-abiding EVE citizens have been winning that I have severe, long-term clinical dehydration.

Could you just make up your mind if the OPā€™s proposal will change everything or nothing?

Please please plaese give me like paks for the forums!

Edit; Sad part is they probably will if I ask long enoughā€¦

I think alpha accounts should be forbidden from mining.

But that would break whatā€™s left of the game?

They practically already are.

Alpha mining vessel choices are corvette, which is utter crap yield, venture, which is practical over all but not very profitable, gnosis and praxis, and those two leave you with a storage and transport problem.
