LOL the fact that you don’t understand the ramifications of this, says it all.
Honestly, I feel bad for you
School must have been hard huh?

There won’t be any ramifications as not enough packs will be sold to make a dent…the fact you are losing your mind over this “issue” says it all.
edit
Actually an increase in gamking will be the only effect on Ret prices…
Heh. You don’t why their doing it and why its limited huh?
Sigh. It must be so good to be so naïve.
Sorry, what?
Mmhm.
I know you don’t get why that’s important.
You should wonder why so many CSMs and veterans are against it. I get you’re trying to be edgy and cool and go against the grain of the thread.
Sadly it just shows your ignorance ![]()
You are mistaken. I understand why THEY are against it as they reference the slippery slope argument or crossing a line or broken trust etc…
You on the other hand are going on about…the economy. How a single T1 ship and a few other bits are going to cause mayhem…so much so that only fool like me can’t see the catastrophe that is about to unfold.
I guess we will see. ![]()

Does DEFCON 5 just happen. Like everything is fine and then suddenly OMG it’s DEFCON 5.
No of course not. Things build to it. The issue here isn’t the retriever specifically it’s what it represents as a step towards “golden ammo” and whatever else CCP cooks up.
Like the weird guy goes to buy a gun. A couple of raised eyebrows. But it’s fine.
Then he buys ammo. Yeah all fine
Then he starts going hunting lots. Yeah all fine
Then social media posts starts. He sure has a lot of knives and guns. And he really doesn’t like those guys from the tv. But sure….. it’s all fine.
Then there are some arrests for assault. But that’s just him. It’s all fine.
Then he is out and about in the neighbourhood waving his gun around. Nope still fine.
Did he just let my kid hold the gun. Oh well I’m sure it wasn’t loaded it’s all fine.
Is that gunfire? If he is out in the yard shooting at rabbits. Seems reasonably. If I was going to shoot rabbits I’d definitely need that kind of firepower.
Oh wait is he pointing the gun at the guy from down the block. Nah surely not all fine.
Did he just shoot the guy? Wait……DEFCON 5
Do you hear me? It’s DEFCON 5. I said DEFCON 5. Why was this guy even allowed a gun. OMG stop the madness.
Well that’s fine. You and many others are sounding the alarm bells now, where as I will wait until they actually cross the line. Both are fine and contrary to belief by some, there is not right or wrong here.
For me, I want to accuse them of doing something wrong when they actually do it rather than act as the proverbial canary in the coalmine.
To each his own.
Indeed.
Although given that the most vocal defense of this has been “this ship sailed years ago. Why are you complaining now?” I’m not sure you will be doing yourself or the game any favours

If you want to stop golden ammo then the time to act is before they actually get to that point. DEFCON 5 kinda means it’s to late right?
I agree that’s not the best counter.
Simply put and as mentioned before I don’t want to cry wolf until I actual see one. I’ve been here long enough to know that about twice a year the world ends and the “EVE is dying” festival is held and this is just one of those times. I also feel that open letters are too important to waste now when there is no wolf.
You can’t stop the first golden ammo “test” sale if CCP tries that…the second one however can but it will take way more than just forum posts and SM outrage…
I know. Complicated and you don’t understand it.
Obv is obv ![]()
ROFL. Line’s already been crossed. When you got the CSM up in arms, you don’t think its a red flag.
Hm. I wonder whose alt you are ![]()
If ccp pay me real money / plex / isk to manufacture all the modules & ship, and then they sell that to somebody for real money, I have no problem with this, that would be fair, this would be a player run eco. Would be possible but not simple to create such a system.
Perhaps a ‘matching’ system, for each pack sold, cpp has a system to buy all the parts off the market. So some poor hardworking indy gets paid for making this stuff. This would even still be fair for other ships, indys still get paid, module & ship economy sees no inflation, and cpp get money for being a “broker”, and cutting out the ‘money>plex>isk>ship’, to just money>ship. so long as it matches a ship that was made by a real player. Akin to carbon offset ‘plant a tree’ schemes
If cpp just ‘spawn’ these modules & ships, you’ve made my hard work worth less, and have taken a small part of the economy away from the player driven economy.

Signed.
Ships should never be sold in a pack. That goes for the destroyer packs also.
I disagree with BPCs being rewarded for just logging in. However that is a different topic lol.
^ This!
When citadels were initially being discussed, one of my recommendations was using in-game art or SKIN’s for the new structures.
CCP clearly hasn’t listened.
There has also been talk of using some of the fan based art:
The “FedEx” freighters would be a huge success for a SKIN:
I swear to Bob and the Loot Fairy… if I could get a Red Bull or FedEx skin for my freighter/jump freighter, I would stab someone with a rusted spoon to get it.
…and everyone is still here. ![]()
Weird.
If death by going against the soul of his own game is the price to pay, then so be it, let the game die.
19 years is an extraordinary feat for any mmo, and it’s safe to say we will not get one like this ever again. A true wonder of the world in terms of computerized gaming and science fiction history.
Major mistakes were simply left to rot too long, by not curbing on multiboxing and botting sooner, and all fast-tracked by skill injectors, long long ago.
Nullsec blackouts, deeper invasive Trig content, would’ve been the start of a whole line of creative measures to curb these problems from the inside, ie: player content, (as well as attract public attention), but it was never really taken by the balls by CCP (perhaps because of an already lack of staff death cycle), and instead cashed out and sold to PA and from there just kept churning out half-assed “solutions” to keep the game afloat.
Their lack of drive, vision, resources along with a fair amount of conflicted interests with major ingame blocks, at some particular point, is what drove this game into the dirt.
I’ve met at least a good 10 people ingame who ran a fulltime living from Eve, and a pretty good one at that, and they were just the tip of the iceberg…
Agreed kinda. But what makes you think anything can stop it after the “test”? As i mentioned in a reply to you (i think it was you at least) in the other thread. The players being targeted by these offers are not players that understand the game. These offers are pushed in front of new players that don’t yet have enough experience of the game to understand that purchasing the “golden ammo” doesn’t just introduce god mode but also bypasses the gameplay of other pilots. And then of course there are the players that just don’t care. I’m sure even a few people denouncing this offer might even drop a few dollars if the damage is already done.
So due to factors you simply cant control I think there would be a very high chance that if such a “test” was pushed on us that it could be successful (in a financial sense at least). Then it doesn’t really matter that its DEFCON 5 and you suddenly have an issue. Because however loud you shout at that point the sounds of the $ printer going brrrrrrrrrrr will drown you and everyone else out.
We cant stop retrievers being sold now. It’s happening. But by making a noise today we can at least make them think twice escalating this path by making it clear that there will be player push back and the community will make it difficult for them. It may work………it may not. Probably not.
But I’d rather make the noise now and at least try. As opposed to allowing them to think there is acceptance and to move to the next thing, and the next thing. To the point that it doesn’t matter anymore and no amount of noise will get CCP to change course. Which of course arguably we have already past.
That’s the problems in my eyes. The two principle stances justifying this are rather defeatist in my eyes. We have one group giving it “what’s the big deal. You never complained when x,y and z happened. You are hypocrites. The soul of the game is already dead”. To which id say does that really justify not trying?
And then we have the other camp. “It’s not a big deal. It’s just a retriever. It has minimal effect on the economy. CCP will do what they want. Come back when its something that i care about”. To which i say I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

For now.
As I said, I’m doing you the favor that you aren’t really this stupid, hence you must be trolling ![]()
Unless of course you are, and then that explains that ![]()
Ah. Obv alt is obv.
The only thing that will kill a golden ammo scenario is a direct hit to subs. That’s CCP’s predictable income and if that is affected than they will reverse course (blackout as reference).
Agree but remember that this can already be done 100% now with $$$->PLEX
…and this is 100% true. It’s very rare that a business (in any field) will sacrifice their own profits for the sake of longevity. It’s not unheard of but the scales are heavily tilted. Maybe it’s inevitable. Maybe the draw of P2W mechanics will finally get CCP . I don’t know but if I had to bet I say they will try it (for real) one day.
Great points and as mentioned this will all play out overtime…hopeful a long period of time. I’d like to see EVE in dying mode for another 20 years.
BTW you touch on a couple other related points such as the “soul” of the game and that is also a very interesting (related) topic although quite the tangent. Is a games soul fixed or evolving and if the latter, can it evolve to include $$$ without corrupting itself?
Anyhow, fun stuff to daydream about…cheers.
