An Open Letter to CCP from Current and Former CSM Members on the "Prospector Pack"

Sounds like you’re a pretty bitter player to me.

Also, what evidence do you claim to be citing? Because last I checked, concurrent player count was down so low that roamers can’t find things to shoot, so they quit. Or else the political arrangement between alliances in game has made it so everyone can’t shoot anyone. And just because you can’t utilize your alts that well doesn’t mean people can’t. I can’t anymore, but I used to be pretty good at it back ‘in the day.’ Back when I could regularly log in to 40k+ people on line, every day, plenty of people out in space looking for fights and pretty much able to count on at least one good scrap almost every day. Back when Eve was still marketed toward the spy, the fleet admiral, and the PVP’er.

Here’s what I know. You claim you’re not old enough to be a bitter vet, but you’re claiming the only way to fix Eve is to dumb it down and make it a credit card check out stand, and your reason for the claim is you’ve been around so long to see that the problem with eve is bitter vets being too risk adverse and gatekeeping too hard.

Which is it?

oh, sure. i’m bitter because i am picky about who I surround myself with rolls eyes
Evidence I cite is experience with huge swaths of the player base, in multiple corps and alliances, across multiple characters. Used to be good money to make and sell characters on the bazaar.
I don’t care about your experience over a decade ago. That has no bearing on the current game or playerbase.
So now I can’t utilize my alts? funny, I’m a miner and producer. I operate 10 alts all day, every day. I have seen the people trying the same with combat situations. They suffer heavy losses, in the best circumstances. Unless you have input operation from 3rd party programs, which violates the eula, you’re not doing much with more than maybe a couple of characters at a time. Unless you mine.
I’m not old enough to be a bittervet, but that does not mean I am too stupid to see how things work. Dumb eve down? Even mining and production has gotten more complex. It’s harder for 1 person to be a decent production source without outside help. Be that the market, or a group of people working towards a goal. Production lines are more expensive now than even a year ago.
As for bittervets being too risk adverse, evidence is everywhere. Besides the failed attempt of pretty much all of null attacking goonswarm, when was the last major conflict? Content is dying out due to lack of bodies. You’re arguing that you’d rather see eve die than pull in new players. That’s a you issue, and it makes your opinion worthless.

And this is where you’ve done messed up. You’re willing to ‘pull in new players’ at whatever cost, and you’re willing to sink to whatever depth to do it. You can only see the game your way and all other opinions, perspectives, and experiences be damned. You think this gives you the right to declare other opinions worthless. You don’t get to do that. That’s a you issue, and one you’re going to have a very bad time in this game if you can’t get off your high horse about.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe one of the reasons null sec wars have dried up is because CCP made a bunch of changes to the game that discouraged the proliferation of small groups and encouraged centralization, thereby driving away a lot of the players who did take risks? AND in doing so, they pushed people into situations where they were always chasing ‘the next big fight’ because CCP found those big fights marketable? Now your solution is to tell people they don’t have to wait, don’t have to learn, don’t have to put in time and effort. They can get it now, just spend 25 bucks on this pack, or that pack, or that pack. What do you think that’s going to do to the playerbase?

Rhetorical question. I don’t need to hear more excuses from someone who thinks bitter vet status is based on a number.

Yes, SWG changed with the rest of the market and subs dropped by a third…

This isn’t a ship of Theseus situation. They are changes to fundamental concepts that make Eve different from other games. And those differences is why we play Eve. SOE made their game more like WoW in an attempt to get more players; they ended up with a net loss…

Funny, I’ve brought in 3 new players the last two years. And while they can’t compete with my character one on one, they can help any group be better by adding their efforts to it. Which means they can contribute to the betterment of the whole. M2 literally happened because of a new player making a tackle…

Fundamental changes to the game we cherish means it isn’t the game we cherish…

HA !

This.

See it’s one thing relying on players to teach eachother over the game’s specific culture/environment, no matter how small a task you perform in said environment at your own level.

It’s another thing to just hand them over everything on a silver platter because, “oh we care so much about you poor little noob not being able to catch up”,

When in reality it all boils down to:

“We want your money, so here, fast-track all that unnecessary stuff !”

The real problem isn’t the actions of CCP. The real problem is that all of the original developers have left and the company has lost its vision.

Once a company is left with nothing but bureaucrats (aka managers), lawyers, marketing people, and a couple of software tweakers, how can it be expected to keep its focus and act decisively?

Wholeheartedly agree. I could have missed one, but I think the last ‘Here’s our dream for Eve’ I saw that actually had some substance was back from Seagull’s days, and man, I don’t wanna give her too much praise because she brought in the injectors.

Injectors, like PLEX, may have been inevitable.

Asset safety and war dec immunity weren’t necessary at all.

On the rare occasions when CCP has some kind of vision, it ends up being something stupid, like Edencom or filaments.

She pretty much started the whole "but noobs gotta have a chance to catch up ! " bandwagon.

Then she left CCP to have her kid, and the slow slope suddenly turned into a speeding cliff.

I stopped reading after the first few sentences. I accept all perspectives except wanting to kill this game. I, and many others, enjoy this game. I’m sorry that you’d rather see it dead. That is entirely a you issue.

Then do me a favor and stop replying to me, too.

if you two would rather see the game dead, then stop playing. It’s not that hard.

I didn’t stop responding. I’m busy. You’re not a priority.

Bitter vet. Got it.

oh, the futility of trying to make bittervets see anything beyond their bitterness. projecting your status onto me doesn’t change who you are. Be better.

Mr. Brisc Rubal, By now you should know : The Arrogant Have No Ears. And After what CCP did to you… I question if this account is even you. And if it is you, you let them off WAY too easy.

I remember watching you on youtube. You seem too nice of a guy. And when you had the winning hand you should have run them into the ground. Yet here you are advocating for change in an entity you know all to well.

In the entire history that I know of… EVE has only apologized 2 times. 1 Was Hilmar himself. And 2 was you. CCP is absolutely unapologetic. So it does Not take an attorney or a genius to know that: A Public Apology from them is the sign of the losing end of litigation or the threat of it.

You had a chance to deliver justice. And you should have.

Short and simple. This move pissed me off so much I’m only logging in to keep my structure fueled. Taking a break. Civ 6 is satisfying my neurotic game playing. Could be a long break.

I think this is exactly what they intend, similar to the Black Market Auction House that feeds the loot system in Albion Online… Only they’ll be monetising it!

Oh we did stop playing, and many more to bleed out over the next year or so.

The game is already FUBAR.

Take it a step further and unsub. No use clinging on to this mess anymore.
